Chapter 7 - Day 7

I have just left Therese Village and on my way back to Salentia.

As I write this, I know that I am being watched. While I look outside my wagon, I can feel creatures watching me. It's still morning and there is plenty of daylight. I doubt that those maggots would openly attack me. They haven't done so during my stay.

When I awoke, I noticed nobody else in the tavern where I rented my room. Usually, there is at least the barkeep, but not even he was there. As I walked to my wagon, nobody was outside. Everything was closed. Everything was quiet. Not even birds made any sounds.

Therese Village is no longer a safe place to travel to. Whatever was brought back from the western seas is only pure evil and shouldn't exist in this world.

Update: Seems like the wagon's wheel deteriorated. My trip will have to continue on foot. I know that I can't stay in one place too long. The dark mage will definitely try to catch me.

Update: I'm writing this as I walk. A couple of wagons have passed by me. As I hitch a ride on them, their wheels deteriorate. Every single one. Must be some curse that the mage has placed on me. But I even as I tried casting counter-magic spell on myself, it had no effect. The wagons that I rode deteriorated. Must be a very powerful curse.

Update: I set up camp. It would be far too dangerous to travel alone and at night. Took a couple of sticks and casted a fire spell on it. I'm currently sitting near the roads. I can't sleep. I have to be prepared for anything.

Update: I just recalled that I was holding onto one of the maggots in my pouch. I just noticed that the pouch has been chewed through. It was stupid of me thinking that a pouch would be strong enough for a creature afflicted with dark magic.

I don't remember it being chewed through when I was on the wagon. Must have done it recently. But if it could have chewed through it, why did it take this long?

Update: I'm surrounded. Giant maggots have encircled me. Writhing around me, but not coming closer. This will be my last entry. I hope that my findings will get to the inquisition before it's too late. It has been an honor serving the Shieldrake Inquisition. I will take the knife and drain all of my blood. I don't think that the maggots can control me if my blood has been drained, otherwise those two other boys wouldn't have been considered dead. I will leave my journal on my person and pray that the maggots shall lose interest.

If the High Inquisitor can grant me one request. Burn them all.
