Prelude

It was meant to be a mild evening, but the snow didn't seem to care, it came crashing down in such a force that it drowned all the senses in a world of pure white. standing defiantly against this white world was a small light in the window of a small house.

The door swung open with a crash and a grizzled man covered in snow stood in the opening, Axe in hand. sweeping the room with his dark blue eyes his gaze looked to a small basket. Approaching the basket, he found a small child and cub bundled up in some old furs, sleeping without a care in the world. The man's gaze stayed on the pair and grew perplexed and eventually soft. Carefully lifting the basket to his chest, the man started humming a soft tune as he turned, left the small house and entered the blinding snow once more. Outside another man, this one younger, called out to the first one, asking what he had found to be humming. the grizzled man only kept humming and worked to keep the wind and snow from the pair in the basket. Seeing that he was ignored the younger man tried to reach for the basket but stopped, terrified of the deep blue eyes that seemed to cut his very soul with only a stare, never stopping his humming. The young man staggered backwards and fell into the thick snow on the ground and shrieked in both fear as well as in pain. His landing that should have been soft ended up being hard and colder than any snow, turning his head he saw a bloodied corpse with a mangled chest armour and a cracked shield. in his mind the man exclaimed "snow-steel!" and started to pry the equipment from the corpse seemingly having forgotten the humming man and his basket. The grizzled man didn't care as he soon vanished in the thick curtain of snow.
