After a month, our school wanted to host Annual Day. We had different performances in different styles. We had dance performances which were later split into Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak and many more..... So, I chose Bharatanatyam, but I literally didn't have any experience of it. Then I informed the dance master about it. He told me to take part in a hip-hop flash mob. I said no and told him that I'll take part in Bharatanatyam only. He somehow agreed and told me that the practice starts from tomorrow. So I got all ready for the practice. The first day was some basic Bharatanatyam steps. Then he taught the steps without the song. It was hard to dance as we had to follow the beats given by him without the song. Then after teaching a few steps, he taught us the expressions to be given while dancing. Then after a week, he somehow managed to get the song, then he taught us the steps with the song. He made us practice so much, then he brought another song with him and he told that we'll need to perform for this song also. But this time he first made us listen to the song and then taught the steps. The dance steps were actually beginners steps and weren't that hard, so I somehow managed to learn them. Then he made us dance for the first song, we all performed it quite well with the facial expressions. Then he made us dance for the second song, we performed it better than the first one as we were all confident with the steps as we learnt it a few days ago.
He told us that there is a surprise for us. We did not know what it was and were thinking about it. Then after some time, 2 huge sacks were brought to the room. They then informed us that they were costumes and dancing anklets. I was really excited. They gave me a maroon coloured costume and 4 stepped anklets. They told us to try them out to check whether they fit or not, my pair was all perfect as I was greedy enough to take them first. After everyone tried them on they told to return the costumes. They said that we had to return the anklets after practice. They sounded so good when we all were dancing. That too we all moved our legs exactly at the same time so it sounded sharp and loud. It was the day before the performance. We all were so ready with the dance that we even started to dance in groups separately off-stage. The day has finally come though. I was really excited about it and at the same time was shocked by the decision my dad took after that...
