Chereads / Dark Wonders come to Life / Chapter 41 - (II)

Chapter 41 - (II)

A situation such as THIS is quite the nightmare for a regular goblin especially for someone who had just reincarnated not too long ago!

I mean, imagine, you were promised a second chance of being just like a certain character from re: mo****r while you don't have the same ability you do have something that can make you all-powerful in the long run.

Well... that is if you are given a chance to even utilize it and let it grow.

His ability is 'conjuring' the ability to conjure weapons, armor even the bodies of those that he killed!

This sick bastard already managed to kill one of the females of his community in secret hoping to make her evolve into the perfect fucktoy as would many female adventurers end up eventually if he continued.

He summoned all of the monsters that he had killed until now to buy him some time!

But that action alone made him a target, as Mark assumed that he was a shaman despite the dregs he was wearing compared to the actual REAL shaman not too far from him.

Mark who had been living in this world for quite some time had no inhibitions for killing humans even more so for those that 'reincarnated' like him as the experience with the champions made him skeptical as to whether they were reincarnated people as well!

So to lessen his problems, He might as well snip the bud before it blooms into a disaster!

The widdle gob, on the other hand, was running through the camp like he was on fire!

Bodies being ripped and thrown around became a sight akin to someone using a bunch of fireworks just that the blood and insides of the dead were the light shows.

Causing a certain goblin to squeal out even more as some of the bodies nearly toppled him to the ground!

While Mark was hot on his trail, the shaman fired some of his offensive spells that... tickled the foreign monster in their camp who simply shrugged it off before pouncing at the goblin he was after who made a shrill wail of fear as the two large hands wrapped around his torso leaving only his head with his neck exposed on one side while the other was only his knee and below.

So you can imagine how fucking huge he was compared to a damned goblin that was the size of a 10 -11-year-old child!

The Goblin tried begging for his life by promising of giving him an immortal army!

But sadly for him, Mark already put his mind into killing this bastard before he joins the other champions.

So with a swift movement, he chomped his head off completely then crushed the rest of the body leaving it in one spot before clearing out the goblin camp.

As for what he did next, he took the headless and mangled body with him just in case he had the ability to resurrect, something that made him extremely cautious of after dealing with a few people that could revive who knows when he'll come across another enemy that can do so.

After impaling the goblin's body on one of his spurs, Mark made his way to the deeper parts of the forest.

He made sure to be cautious as there were monsters roaming around living their own lives through the natural order of things and Mark didn't want a repeat of the last time he came here where he was practically swarmed by the residents of this forest.

As he did this, Mark failed to notice the strange glowing tattoo from the dead goblin move to his back.

As for what it will be to him, a gift or a curse remains to be seen.

The place that he found was an open area in the middle of a lake with a large hollow tree at the center, it felt odd to him, nice, comfy as if it were a home that he had been searching for.

However, for silk and a certain halfling, the area was more of something from a horror flick as in their eyes the land was made of thousands of rotting bodies, and the hollow 'tree' was made of bones freshly picked of any flesh still stained with blood.

Who was seeing an illusion, who was seeing the real thing, one couldn't really say but one thing's for sure, this place that Mark considered as a haven may not be as safe as he presumes.

But he was really tired mostly mentally as if his brain was put through a blender from how much it was aching.

What he was currently experiencing was the aftermath of those that managed to break free from the mental corruption of gods that were trying to convert him into a loyal servant.

As for whether it was completely removed will depend on whether a certain gnome was still alive.

With every step, he took to the hollow 'tree', the rotting corpse's eyes opened before staring at him from behind from the two followers eyes, what made it scarier was that those farthest away from him began clattering their teeth as Mark got closer to the 'tree'.

He wasn't sure why but Mark felt that it would benefit him, should he rest within, a hunch of sorts one could say as he gradually grew drowsy, his body felt heavier, his eyes blurring, his mind whispering words to rest.

He couldn't help himself but follow these urges.

as his walking became staggering, then crawling by the time he reached the entrance.

His two followers wished to call out to him to stop, to get away from this place especially the halfling her pantheon was practically screaming in her mind to get away from this place.

but alas, The halfling fear the large monster that she surrendered to more than being condemned by her own god.

Since he was closer, and on top of that by the time they reached halfway onto the small island the screams of her pantheon became muffled and broken than when they reached the tree she could hear nothing more.

But for silk, she was familiar with the lore of this forest as one particular one came to mind upon seeing this island and the fearful screams of the halfling of losing contact from her pantheon as if she had been cut off.

The land of the cursed ones, this island was literally made from the bodies of cursed people, those that resented the gods, those that bathed in their blood in olden times before perishing from the different kinds of curses and many other things that ended their pitiful lives slowly, they all gathered to one area to use their own bodies to provide protection to those just like them from the very gods that play their torturous games on the inhabitants of this world.

But obviously, there was a price to pay should one use this protection, it was depended on the user's amount of strength, race, and skill, in this case, Mark's task was simple.

his job was related to a few things within the pier city there was no time limit but the effects of the protection this land was giving him now would slowly weaken and dwindle away until he completes it.

But for now, Mark laid on to his side before his eyes slowly closed and finally fell asleep, while a message of what his task was, formed in words of blood inside of the 'tree'.
