Chapter 45 - Leo Vs Harumi

Leo felt something. He felt stronger, and then, He sensed a small orb of blood embedded into his flesh. It was embedded into his right pectoral, beneath his rib cage. The orb contained power, strength that felt similar to the being he had met named Jesus. He tried to interact with the orb, but he only was unable to get a response from probing it with his mana.

Leo stood, for he felt that he heard voice

The voice seemed to say, "I love you with an everlasting love."

Leo said, "Who said that?"

No one answered.

The voice didn't resemble Jesus. It was a different voice altogether. The clouds rolled, exposing nothing blue, nothing from the sky, truly seamless transitions between a cloak that separated heaven and the land. Leo stood on the land, and he wished he was in heaven right now. He wished he didn't have to suffer like he had, not only in the past two years, but from the moment King Brimstone enslaved him. Anger burned in his chest.

Anger burned, but the orb of blood burned as well. It didn't hurt, but it was a soft gentle feeling that sent a mental message to his head. The message wasn't comprised of words. It spread into his mind like warm water. He understood the message, even if no word were used. He understood the message, but he was bitter.

He thought to himself, 'Why should I forgive him? He's my enemy.'

He also thought to himself, 'Didn't you want me to kill him? Why should I forgive him?'

Another message was sent to Leo's mind, and Leo mused on it.

Leo thought, 'He'll be killed by your power? But if you don't come down, how can your power kill him?'

Before the orb could answer, a gust blew an arrow off course. The arrow missed Leo's head by a millimeter. Strands of hair fell down from above his ear. He looked at the arrow for a moment, and saw demonic energy at the tip of the arrow corrode the earth.

Leo turned in the direction of the arrow, and he saw a figure wearing a hooded cloak. The figure drew the bow back again, and Leo ran straight towards the figure with a bow.

There was nowhere to take cover. The wind pillar had obliterated Sodom, grinding the town into dust. So, Leo didn't even attempt to dodge.

But, he did feint movements to the right and left a few times with a few slight movements of his shoulders. The figure reacted to the movements as Leo expected. Three arrows flew towards Leo, while demonic energy grazed the tip of his black clothes. The energy bubbled for a bit, but dissipated the moment Leo increased his speed.

The archer realized Leo tricked him, so the archer drew the bow back and held it. The archer waited for Leo to get closer, when the arrow was released. The tip of this arrow was different. The tip had a spark on it, and as the arrow flew through the air, the spark grew into a fiery flame, as if the arrow was a small comet. The flame was a mixture of demonic energy and fire magic. Dark flames pierced towards Leo.

Leo's pupils shrunk. He reacted quickly. He brought his left hand, and activated his fire magic. His hand turned into a blade of flames, and Leo brought his left arm from the ground in a rising strike at the arrow.

Leo's fingers met the the tip of the arrowhead, and he used his index and middle finger to push the arrow into a different angle. The arrow flew above Leo's head and into the sky.

Leo brought his right hand to the sky. He leaped above the next arrow, and he brought a flaming right hand down upon the enemy. But, to Leo's surprise, the enemy used two hands to catch his descending arm, which was not on fire. Leo didn't expect the opponent to follow his moments with the naked eye. The opponent then did a simple front kick at Leo's chest, knocking the wind out of Leo.

Leo caught himself. He was surprised at how strong hi new body was. His left arm was still numb, but was recovering, and his chestwas close to recovering from getting the wind knocked out of him in the next second. As the enemy summoned a large mouth to swallow Leo, the enemy was surprised to see Leo evade his demonic attack. The mouth disappeared in the next second.

Leo didn't expect the next attack to come so soon.

The two stood opposed to each other, neither making any hasty movements.

Leo broke the silence: he said, "Who are you?"

"The dead have no need for names."

Leo realized that his enemy had been preparing a large attack as a giant mouth appeared beneath his feet. Leo felt no resistance beneath his feet.

'Is this it?' Leo thought.

But, then he felt the orb of blood pulsate one time inside of his body. It sent a message to his brain, and Leo entered a trance. In an instant, he fused the void magic "push" and the fire magic "burst" into a new magic. The new magic didn't fit inside of the usual categories of fire, wind, water, and earth, not even void. It was a new breed of magic.

The new magic was applied to Leo's feet, and Leo's body insticntively braced itself. The amount of mana used was small, and the magic was not as large in appearance as the other spells he cast, but the power was amplified.

Leo's body cast the same magic again, and Leo was still in the trance. A small rotating orb of light shot at the the figure in the cloak, before that person could react.

Flames detonated, like a grenade had detonated.

The enemy was dead.

The summoned mouth disappeared, and Leo fell to the ground after it returned to normal. Leo woke up from his trance. He was sweating. He gazed at the ground with his palms on the ground, and his knees there as well. He remembered the way the two types of magic fused. He replayed the scene over ad over in his mind. He was still conscious, but it was as if his body was moving on its own, during the trance. He could see and feel the movements of his body and the usage of his mana, but the result stunned him.

He stayed like that for a few minutes, until he saw the page of a journal next to him. At the bottom of the page was a signature.

The signature said, "Harumi."

Leo said, "He really did come..."

The clouds rolled, and Leo wondered in which direction the Seven Mountains was located.
