In Hindu mythology their are three main gods and one goddess who takes different forms, the gods being "BHRAMA" The one who creates, "VISHNU" The one who maintains and preserves and " Shiv" The one who distroys, now this is both literal and symbolic.
The Goddess on the other hand takes different forms and is personified differently according to those forms she is called "LAKSHMI" For wealth and prosperity, "SARASWATI" For knowledge and music and many others, but that is irrelevant for this story I'm about to tell you.
The only goddess's form you need to know is "KALI" death personified, the one who emerges when the goddess becomes angry ,when she comes she demmands blood and blood flows in the form of rivers and seas she doesn't cair whether you are a god, human, animal, or a demon
she will ask for what you have taken from her ad done to her as she is also the earth as "BHU DAVI" (BHU : EARTH DAVI: GODDESS).

Now that that you know this let's go to the "Biggining before the Biggining ".
❄❄❄
It was the third Yuga the "Dvapara Yuga " and the humans had prospered and spread all over the earth thy had uprooted hole forests to make there cities, killed animals in immeasurable numbers for food and sking. And the ammouny of sin on iarth had reached a record high.
This made the goddess angry leading KALI to appear and she demmands blood.
Her appearance shakes everyone and the devas (lesser gods like Indra, Agni, Surya, Yama etc) rush to Vishnu for help, So Vishnu mustering his courage and determination goes to Kali and asks "O grateful and merciful goddess, why are you angry and what will it take for you to quench your anger and calm down", to which she replied " the humans have taken more and more from me and returned nothing in returning nothing. The level of sin on earth has reached its limits and I want retribution, I want blood I want to drink it, bathe in it only then will I be satiated, will you give it to me or shall I do it myself, O grate preserver " Vishnu understanding the Sircumstance nodded and smilingly said " O grate mother, what you demmand shall be done and I shall bare the burden so calm down for now as a grate battle will take place on the field of Kurakshatra where I shall assist you in collecting you the sacrifice in my avatar as Krishna " Kali with her fierce eyes looked at Vishnu standing there smiling said "I will hold you to your words " she could see the future she could see his future and she knew he could see it too so she had a faint trace of smile on her terrifying yet beautiful face, vishnu with a knowing smile bowed to her and she turned and vanished.
Shiva on his mountain kailash on the peak of the Himalayas opened his eyes and smiling said "This is going to be interesting"
and so it all began an epic to be told for generations.
