Chapter 1 - Once Upon A Time...

Everything was going well in the peaceful land of Alriya. The queen had just given birth to a new baby girl who would be known by the name of Leah. She was beautiful and had such a pure heart that all that beheld her couldn't help but smile.

Meanwhile, the kingdom of Drastos was in chaos. Coincidentally, the queen had also given birth to a child, naming him Leonidas. He was a handsome baby but he appeared to make people around him angry or upset.

It was shortly after that Drastos soon engaged in war with Alriya.

The kings of both kingdoms had wanted to unite their lands by just establishing one new empire but neither king wanted to give up his kingdom and as a result, they both perished in the fight. The queens, fed up with the constant battles and fighting, had decided to take matters into their own hands and decided that when the time came, they would unite their lands through the union of their children.

Could two polar opposites be compatible? They would soon learn in 19 years.

19 Years Later…

Leah was beloved by all her people. She was so compassionate and kind that even animals would want to be near her. In fact, birds would sit at her window sill eagerly listening to her sing in the afternoons. Her smile truly lit up the room and her laugh was contagious. Leah had the extraordinary ability to lighten the mood of any room because of her very presence. It was as if all the good in the world was manifested in one young woman.

The Princess of Alriya was also extremely beautiful, no woman in the entire kingdom could rival Leah's beauty. Her manner of walking was even praised for being so elegant. Her facial beauty was no match for any comparison. She had large almond eyes with long lashes and stunning dark brown eyes that looked so pure and yet mysterious at the same time. Her skin looked so smooth and soft, not a blemish in sight. Her hair was long and black with brown and red highlights. She was well known for her impeccable, regal posture, and her very pleasing figure.

Leah had many men who were vying for her attention. Most of whom believed that even a small smile from her confirmed that she loved them. Though she had many suitors, Leah did not engage with any of them because she knew that she was already promised to someone, Leonidas, the future king of Drastos.

She had known about the engagement since she was young but she had still never met the prince.

She had heard from the place maids that he was a hideous monster that the queen kept locked away in the castle. Leah didn't care if he was hideous or handsome, she was willing to give him a chance.

There never was such a kind and pure heart on the planet of Zari. Leah truly was viewed as the perfect princess.

But was there another side to her?

Leonidas had finally turned nineteen but he was already an adult. He had taken on the role of being king early on but it was in one month that his official coronation would occur. Leonidas had already fought many battles on the battlefield, earning a reputation for being a ruthless killer. He also attracted a lot of attention from the ladies.

The Prince of Drastos had shiny, black hair with streaks of brown and red. He had a strong, masculine jawline with piercing dark, brown eyes. His skin was slightly tanned due to the long Drastonian summers and he was also pretty tall, standing at 6' 5''. He truly was the epitome of the phrase "tall, dark, and handsome".

Most people who looked at him were in awe of his extremely attractive face and strong regal aura. The only problem was that he was extremely cold and distant, with most people also being afraid of him due to his reputation on the battlefield. Many extremely beautiful and well-educated women had tried to earn his favor but he remained indifferent.

Leonidas knew that he had a duty to his kingdom and that was to marry the Princess of Alriya and save his land from a devastating war. Some of his subjects believed him to be a traitor for being committed to a princess of a rival kingdom but no one had the courage to confront him. They thought that Leonidas was not capable of love.

Maybe they were right?
