Chapter 2 - What every girl wants

At that moment Gweneth appeared at the door. Five feet nine, she was a former model and quite impossibly beautiful with her waist length blonde hair and a pair of beautiful green eyes. Her slender body was sheathed in a period costume and she looked very elegant.

"Mrs. Frazier. I heard you were here. How nice to meet you." She came forward to meet his mother and they hugged warmly. She was a gentle creature who was very straight forward but equally courteous with everyone. She was also very hard working and passionate about her work, making it a delight to be her co-star.

"Don't tell me you are getting married in this rag." Feanor teased her. The muted beige dress was anything but a rag but clearly wasn't a wedding gown.

"No, no. This is going to be used in the subsequent scenes when we are going to setup a home. Teresa asked me to walk around in it to get a feel. Though, it's rather torturous to do it in a corset." She grimaced and sat down rather gingerly in a chair, careful not to lean back, or rather, couldn't lean back.

He grinned. While playing a period drama was fun and educational, it had its own deficiencies. The costumes were one such aspect for sure. Though the female actors suffered more he guessed. But the charms were undeniable. They guys got to play with swords and old fashioned pistols, oh and not to mention, ride horses. That was one of the best things. One of his close friends has a ranch in Ireland which bred race horses. He had visited there several times and they had been thoroughly enjoyable. He just loved horses.

Gweneth started to get up, very carefully. "Listen, I need to go now. But we have to report to the sets in the afternoon, do some extras. And I still need to try on my wedding dress."

He grinned, "That is going to take hours I imagine."

"And at least half a dozen people." She grimaced. "How ever did those poor women manage to get dressed every day without any help, is an enigma."

At the door, she turned back and said with teasing smile, "You look very nice by the way. Very... gallant hero." And with a wink she was gone.

After the shoot wrapped up for the day, the actors and some of the crews went to the local bar to celebrate the following two days' break. Whiskey flowed like water and after many a debate about various topics, the conversation returned to the show.

It was a historic drama, set in 16th century revolving around the passionate romance between a dashing Scot, namely Feanor and a highborn lady of French royal family and their various adventures. The lady fears for her life and in his quest for saving her the hero sets many a heroic example of bravery, honesty, sacrifice. The debate started about why such tales are not so common now.

"It isn't possible now-a-days because nobody feels a love like that anymore. Every single person is selfish." Came an argument from a two time divorcee.

"Here, here." A couple of the group raised their glasses.

Harry, his director said, "Maybe that's not entirely true. Maybe sometimes you just make mistakes. My first marriage, it was lousy. I was glad when it was all over. My second one, I have to say, we are doing much, much better. My wife understands me, helps me make decisions and generally has a positive effect on me. I try do the same to her, I hope. At least, she hasn't said otherwise till now." He finished with a smile.

"Let's hope it stays that way." Gweneth murmured. "Harry, you found your happiness in the second chance, but not everyone is so lucky. My best friend, she is a couple of years older than me, and my! The number of boyfriends she has had. And she dates constantly. And she hasn't found the right man yet. Every time a relation breaks up, invariably over something really silly, she is so disappointed. Now she blames herself, thinks there is something lacking in her. Poor girl, she suffers so much. But she still keeps on dating, in the hope that one day she will come across the man of her dreams."

"What qualities do you want in your man of dreams?" Her costume girl asked jokingly, and everyone chimed in.

"Well, it's what every girl wants, really." Gweneth started very matter-of-factly. "We just want to be loved, unconditionally."

"But what is he going to be like?" Winks and knowing smile were sent towards her and Feanor, which they both ignored. The crew liked to joke, seeing how good they were to each other on-screen as well as off-screen. But it was just that. Good to each other. Neither of them had any romantic feelings towards each other.

Harry spoke up. "Feanor, what's your dream girl is going to be like?"

Feanor cleared his throat.
