Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Remember when I said I had no clue what I was getting myself into? Well, the start came into pass soon enough.

The next week, I met Kimi. She was the little sister of my sister in law, and about three years older than me. She was just entering college, and somehow was like an outsourcing company. She was always loaded with part time jobs, and made money from those.

Well, the reason I met her was to earn money during my summer vacations. She could be seen as a piggy bank.

And sure enough she got me into a part time job easily. She had connections.

My new workplace was at a cafe, which looked more like a high functioning bar. And I was sure I was damn underage but I still took the job, they paid massive amounts of what I call good cash. And it was a safe one, I mean, it was an employee friendly environment and that alone was good enough.

"I think you'll get used to it soon," Kimi said casually changing into the work uniform, "Just under a week, too. It's easy work."

"I hope so," I said, slowly changing as well. I had no clue how to strap some of those suspenders which were actually harnesses but I didn't know at that time. Come on, we didn't have Fifty Shades back then; not that I've read that book yet, I never read that because later when it got released Zerah was against it and I wasn't particularly fond of being seen with that.

Back to story, so I got a job, pretending to be some skilled bartender, wearing uncommon sex toys in a place with a fake age certificate. 'The Rasa' a place I should probably have never been to.

It was as Kimi said. The work itself was not very hard. Mixing non alcoholic drinks and lending a ear to the wannabe older customers, who were still way underage to be drinking strong stuff... I guess I was getting used to it.

I mean it, I really was getting used to it... for a while at least.

It was about three quarters of month already when they showed up. Wait, let me correct myself. Not they, but Zerah Seastein.

He didn't see me directly, but as soon as I saw him, I hid. I mean, I was underage and him seeing me there was a big problem.

As far as I could tell, he was a little tipsy. And for some reason, that made me feel relieved. Because according to my small brain cells, that was a good sign, which means, he wouldn't recognise me.But I was just giving myself airs, because I was not even a very noticeable person to people who had seen me daily, and I had met him just once.

He slumped down on the bar, head on the counter. Kimi, who was done with her shift and was preparing to leave shoved me to my work station.

"You're not paid for free are you?" she said, and left.

"A Morning Glory please," he said, not looking up.

Morning Glory was the drink with the most percentage of alcohol, more of whiskey. I never had a request to make that and it was a pain.

"May I see your ID, please?" I said.

He slapped a black club member card on the counter. It was exclusively for adults, over eighteen. And that was surprising but not enough, I guess.

"This-" I began.

All of a sudden, he raised his head and looked at me, "That voice, I recognize you!" he exclaimed, "What are YOU doing here? This is no place for decent girls!"

"excuse me?" I said, "This is no place for decent boys either."

"Who says I'm decent?" he said with a lopsided grin, "And aren't you underage?"

"Shh!" I cried out, my face grimacing, "We're both underage!"

"So, shut your mouth and give me a Morning Glory," he said with a sweet smile, "Lisa."

My heart was beating wildly. I hoped no one was there who could over hear us and make me lose my job. For one, if we were both kicked out, he could always go to other places, but I would have a lot of trouble finding another job. Odds were not in my favour.

I glared at him as I mixed what I would call a drinkable stuff. I hoped it didn't kill anyone. He took it all in in one huge gulp and his face was worth seeing.

He mouthed out with a hoarse whisper, "Peculiar"
