" Hey, you idiotic brat. Listen to your mother! Do you know how much we did for your sorry-ass?"
Damn, my head is throbbing and my eyes hurt. Wait, my eyes been hurting for a while, but who is yelling at me? Oh, it's my parents. How do they look like? No matter how hard I try all I see is a black foggy mask. I can't move my hands. The cuts probably made it numb. Ah, they stopped yelling. It's because I have to go to school.
On my way to school, there is this small freedom I feel as if I'm in the eye of a tornado that one place that is completely calm but the minute you step out into school or home your blown away. Well, sometimes it doesn't last as long as I will like.
" hey well if it isn't my best friend Laze. Look, I was in a bit of a rush and it seemed like I forgot my wallet so can you lend me 50."
This must be one of Ricos's little rats. " I'm sorry I don't have that much. I'm so sorry.". Why does this always happen to me? Why is my voice so small? Why can't I say no?
" Hey, a black car with four red stripes is being pulled away!" a girl screamed out. "Shit, my car," he called out as he ran away, but the girl came towards me! "Wow, you look like you just saw death itself. Haha, don't worry I not gonna eat yea. Remember me I sit behind you at lunch. My name is Luka but it's a boy's name so you can just call me lucky"
Luka got her nickname lucky or lucky -dog because she was always able to get out of sticky situations but she has a bad habit of finding people reactions amusing so she really didn't have that many friends.
As we walked to school together, the black foggy mask that I see on everyone started to fade away on her face. Lucky had short black hair and a lot of piercings on one ear. She also was in a black hoodie. It felt nice to tell her about my problems and even though I just whined and complained about it all, she just listened and laughed saying she like this side of me better.
Although I was still bullied and got my head smashed into my desk. I believe it was the best day I had yet. When I finally got home. My mom was furious.
"After all that I said to you this morning, look at your grades and you dare come home late. You begged me to let you go to this ugly public school yet you can't even get good grades! Do you even know how high class this family is? Why don't you stop being a good for nothing child and start being more like your brother and sister? You know what, I'm done. Come with me."
She grabbed me by the arm and pulled me into the kitchen. A pot of boiling water sat on the stove. She pulled my hand and plunged it straight into the water. I screamed as the cuts on my hand reopened and the water turned red. I don't understand, why me? I really had enough of this life.
As I manage to get lose of my mother's grip. I ran out the front door.
After running for a while it became night. I forgot where I was but one thing i knew I didn't want to go back home. I noticed that I was probably on the wrong side of town there was gangs and clubs at every corner. There were no cars so people all walked the streets but I stuck to the sidewalk. As I looked into a shop window I saw a boy with ruffed up, maybe black hair and a ripped up jacket. Last but not least a face that looks like its been burned a thousand times and again. " I look like shit," I thought.
"BANG!". As I walked away a loud sound came from behind the store as my fear pulled me to the ground. I still wanted to know what happened so I guess you can say curiosity killed the cat. I made my way through the alley and behind the store. I saw two people and one was dead and the other had a gun. I yelped at the site, also alerting the man with the gun. The man called out "don't you dare run. Who are you? What's your name?". I didn't know what to do.
If I tell him my name it might make trouble for my family and well they will be better without me. The way I look now maybe I can get away with it. "I don't have one," I said while putting my hands up. He first inspected me then he put his gun into his pocket and maybe he was thinking out loud but I heard him say something like I think I have room for one more. "hey if you come with me, I promise you'll get a life way better than this but as you can see I don't have that much time on my hands so its either you follow me or walk away and pretend this never happened.". The man started to walk away halfway into his sentence.
I know any life would be better than the one I have now but can a murder make my life any better? Sadly I'm the type that will still go for that one percent. I started to follow him, he told me to watch my steps and I then noticed that I ran out of my house barefoot. We soon got to a old looking parking lot with three or four cars. He led me to a black car. It wasn't anything big, more like an average family car. He told me to get in but then I started to have second thoughts. Before I had a chance to say something, the car door opened on his own.
" Hun ah it's the stray dog. Are you coming with? Haha, I really am a lucky dog." Lucky pulled me into the car.
She looked really pleased to see me. Although I blocked out most of what she said as the guy started to drive.
"Ok, so I guess I should introduce myself. So sit down like good little pups and just so you know I am armed and I hate annoying things. Anyway, you all can call me Alfa. I'll be your teacher. I also think I should name you two since you both aren't fond of your real name, even though you have good nicknames. It will be better to have a solid name. So how about Todara and Saya?" I was so glad when I heard that name even if it did sound kind of girly and Lucky was happy too. It made me wonder why was she here? I mean she's Lucky for a reason but then again, things always come with a consequence. My mom made sure that I knew that. " ok looks like you pups like the names. Well, we're gonna make a stop at an old friend's place to get you all fixed up. Mostly you Todara, you look like a rat."
