Everything around you is magic. Being able to harness magic however is a different story. Only those who are Gifted with a magic sigil can harness the power of magic. Birthmark at first then it turn towards the color of your primary element. Primary elements be:

Fire-red coloration

Aqua-blue coloration

Earth-brown coloration

Aerial-darker shade of skin color

Light-white

Darkness-black

Secondary elements be:

Lightning-Fire

Ice-Aqua

Boil-Aqua

Blood-Aqua

Compression-Aerial

Gravity-Earth

Sound-Aerial

Creation-Light

Destruction-Darkness

Then there's those born without a sigil. They are classified into four classes. Those four being, Melee, Ranged, Artillery, and Support. Same classification as weapon classes pretty much. They pretty much have to do what they can do when pitted against a magic opponent. The story of Gaia starts now my youngins.
