Chapter 44 - The Job. (Chapter 43)

Numb. The darkness had officially taken over every atom of my body. No emotion. No light. No pain. Nothing. She had emerged, the huntress, Rovara, She is here, I feel her. She had been buried in me for a long time, she had been with me all my life tucked into the corner of my soul. But now, she is really here. I feel powerful, naturally dynamic. I like the feeling, I don't feel the same, I'm stronger. The walls that Damien brought down she built back up. And higher too. Power was coursing through my veins, limitless and mindless power.

"Kitty you ok?" Drake says after a while crouching down placing his hand on my shoulder.

"I'm fine." I say, emotionless. I swallow breathing in the fresh air. "Are you?" I ask. I could hear his slight grunts. The man that tackled him hurt his shoulder. He tried to hide his pain, but the power was heightening my senses, making me see things, feel things no one else could. Only Rovara could.

"How did you know?" He asked grabbing his shoulder. It was broken. He just didn't know it. I closed my eyes and concentrated on the raw bone. I saw it, channeling the darkness there. Drake screamed at the immense shock of power and pain both as powerful as the other. His shoulder bone clicked into place, he shouted but I didn't care for his pain. I didn't even have to move. or touch him. I could do it, just from thinking now. I smiled at his painful screams. No pain no gain.

"Better?" I said staring at his wide eyes. I had to get up off the floor. I got up and he watched me. I was bored, I conjured a blue mist and made it dance on my fingers, throwing it from one hand to another. Making shapes and patterns with the shadows. Drake watched in amazement. He just watched. He didn't want to interrupt, I couldn't help but grin at what I felt. The ease of its flow was intoxicating. About how I had evolved into this powerful sorceress. Even more than before.

"Karina how are you doing that?" He asks stepping away from me. I cut my eyes to him and throw the mist towards him but it just dissipated before it hit him. I laughed at his squeal and walked over to him. His jaw tight and muscles tensed.

"It's funny to me. Everything That people feared I'd become. Was all one person, lurking in me. Only Appearing from time to time in moments of immense anger or pain. To protect me. I guess..this pain I felt. Was enough to unleash her. Enough to unlocks her abilities..my abilities. This is who I am now. It's time I stop pushing her down. And embrace it. Embrace the power. Embrace Rovara." He looks me up and down. I looked the same, but I had definitely changed. And I was sure it was for the better. I hear footsteps in the woods, one set. Heavy, definitely a males. Their smell was rough, tired with a hint of anticipation. "Ryan's here." I say and point in the direction I hear them. Drake looks around scanning the open area confused because there is no sighting of anything. We waited a few minutes, and then Ryan came charging through the trees. Drake looked at me. Flustered, more so confused about how I knew, how I saw he was there before he actually was visibly. I just grinned at his expression. I didn't feel anything. And I didn't care.

"Guys! Guys !" Ryan approaches us out of breath. He kneels over trying to steady his heart rate, which by the way was going through the roof, Almost shattering his ribs.

"Where is Lavria?" Drake asks.

"She said, that we, need, a person on the inside." I rolled my eyes.

"What was that for?" He asked directly to me.

"Don't push her right now trust me." Drake whispered but I could still hear him.

"We are not going to find any answers from him. We are on our own. And we're better for it." I look away, the sadness had been replaced by rage. No room for tears anymore. Rage has flowed and settled right in my heart and stiffened. "We're gonna have to do this alone. Anyone got any ideas?" We looked around each other. And I saw drakes head light up.

"I have a plan..but you're not gonna like it." He said.

"I don't really care anymore Drake. Not for him, not for me, nothing. so Tell me, what's your plan?"

————————————-

"You sure about this?" Ryan said as we returned to the palace. I looked at him.

"Will you shut up. I'm doing it aren't I?" I scorn at him and walk faster. I can't be bothered to look at his face, or talk about anything as mundane as feelings. We walk through the gate and up the grand stairs. I don't take notice of anyone and I head straight for Drakes room and walk in with him. He shuts the door and I light the fire place with the thrust of my arm. It crackled blue but settled on a blood orange color.

"How long?" I say. Sitting on the bed.

"She should be here, it's nearly Dusk." He says pacing by the door. "You sure you want to do this? We don't have to." He is shaking, nervous. I just smile and cross my legs leaning back on the bed. Waiting. I hear him gruff and stomp hard as he paces. He is pissed off with me, but I don't care.

"Kitty you can talk to me." He says. His eyes soft. I knew I could, I just didn't want to.

"All this time we have been waiting for the answers to fall into our laps. We thought that Damien was going to provide everything for us. We should've done it on our own from the start. At least now we will get some answers. One way or another." I conjure the blue mist again, allow it to flourish around the room. Making shapes and patterns to amuse me.

"Karina you have changed. I get that he hurt you, I just didn't think it was this much?" He motioned to all of me. I threw the mist at him again and allowed it to get very close to him. I stopped it and changed its course of direction to the wall where at contact it corroded the concrete, melting the rock and it rolled down the wall.

"What's wrong with being stronger huh? Being who I was only caused me pain. At least now, I don't feel anything." I said conjuring another ball of mist.

"I'm not afraid of you Karina."

"Well now..maybe you should be." My eyes landed on him, he narrowed his with a saddened expression, huffing and puffing. There was a Knock on the door, and Drake opened it.

"Oh-hi-hi Drake." Ashley. Rolling my eyes they land on drakes blushing cheeks.

"Uh (cough) Hey." He replies with an awkward wave. I couldn't roll my eyes harder.

"Ahem, hello Karina here is your dress." Ashley hands me the dress and continues to fawn over drake. My eyes land on the massive ring on her finger that she was consciously hiding from Drake he flirted with her.

"So congratulations are in order." I say loud enough to stop their talk. She looks at me as her smile fades and Drake is utterly confused. He then saw the ring and stepped away giving her a bit of space.

"You're engaged?" He whispered but he was pained. She swallowed dryly and stuttered trying to find her words.

"No-not-not techniquely. I haven't said yes but he-my parents-well-want me to wear the ring." She stuttered twirling it on her finger. I just smiled at her discomfort.

"But..you're getting married? To who?" Drake asked through his teeth.

"Uh-we'll I'm not getting married we are not engaged but well -Jamie." I swear I heard Drakes brain snap. He didn't say anything but she was so embarrassed she had to look away.

"Well thanks for the dress, I think you should go." I open the door and she whisks out and I slam it behind her. I could hear her whimpers as she walked away. I saw drake keeled over his fists formed and his shoulders squared.

"So you know that feeling Drake, that you're feeling right now?" I ask and he looks up at me. "Suppress it, bury it, because that is what I have been doing my whole life, and look what I have become." He looks away, he is pissed but I muster the forces and break the glass on the window. He jumps to cover his head. Staring at me in shock. "Pull yourself together Drake, we have a job to do."
