Combat Zone, Headquarters
Joran was lazing on the couch, comfortably, while having popcorn. In the front, 10 huge light-crystal screens were displaying the war on all the three fronts, of the settlement. Loud pop music was playing in the background. His angular chin, with a long vulpine like nose, greasy brown hairs, and sunken eyes. A lean teen sized body that could take on many dozen elites all alone.
Joran continued watching the war indifferently. He seemed no different than a teenager watching an action movie, in his home theater. Only the indifferent eyes, with sharp glints of light, passing in the eyes from time to time on the expressionless face would tell us that, the young man was not watching a movie, but concentrating on the screen as if to find something.
Joran was a Level-F esper, he was in charge of security of the base while the other espers had gone with the only level-E esper to the nearby city to work as mercenaries, and get more resources for the base camp.
Joran was trying to find elites and bosses of those things on the other side of the wall. He had to kill them as early as possible because if they escape they will just lead more of there kind towards the base, which would be a tragedy.
But the elites and bosses of those things kept on hiding in shadows moving here and there, and would certainly hide or flee if not taken care of simultaneously.
Joran's hand suddenly stopped, as his eyes focused on the screen. With lightning-fast speed, his hand reached for his p-com.
"Converge the elites on the southern side", Joran's voice crackled through every com in the city.

"Oh, no!!", Carison a Elite on the southern wall called in horror.
"Hiiii..dd..e", this was all he could shout in his com before the terrifying poison mist covered the temporary central hub.

The starsteel alloy bunker, all bio-organic or steel, everything was dissolved forming into poison pools. Anything that was touched by the poison was melted.
Vapors started forming from these pools, they were very-itchy for any sensory organs, and could melt any organic life.
Starsteel is the universe wide human standard for military grade steel, to be used for military. The need for starsteel was realized in the confrontation with the arachnid swarms in the last days of age of exploration, when fort zenich, after a famous explorer then, was infiltrated due to a section of fort wall being cut down by the arachnid chelas(pincers), since then standardization of steel on whole of human level was done so that no such incidents ever happen again.
Some of the toxic droplets and vapors were thrown here and there and one drop splashed on a nearby soldier.
The soldier although wearing TX-972 model bio-suit armor started screaming and roiling on the ground in pain while holding the left side of his waist.
On the left side, TX-972 had melted and so and his innards. Seeing him in such condition all the members nearby backed up, there faces going pale.
Seeing the poison afflicting someone under his command the officer fainted. Well what more could you expect of someone who had his position due to connection to an elite, his own abilities were sufficient to only become cannon fodder for the frontlines.
Seeing the pathetic scene all the soldiers had nothing but disgust and criticism for this so-called commanding officer. One of the older mercenaries saw this and immediately called for someone who had some experience in medics to see if something could be done to save the unfortunate soldier.
Sam was an experienced mercenary in the nearby area and had worked in a team for highlives were he got to know about some basic field medics. When the swarm came he was in the post doing some transactions. Since he was a just a lone-wolf, and at that an average one he had no money for a speeder or hover car and was stranded in the post. When the leaders of the post realized that the swarm was big enough to tear apart the whole base, they shoved weapons in hand of every available being, even rider-beast were expropriated for making beast bombers to be unleashed on the swarm, so how could Sam be an exception, he was also sent on the front-line, with a laser rifle on the very-top of the wall.
Sam walked forward and grabbed the soldier rolling on the ground, with his bulky hands. Twisted the helmet and removed it carefully.
As soon he saw the red-dot squirming in the soldier's eyes his eyes went cold.
He removed his sidearm, pointed at the soldier's head and fired.

"Shit..... shit", exclaimed John as he took cover in the bunker on the wall.
