"Make it stop!" A woman's scream tore into the night. She scratched at her eyes, desperate to pass the pain she caused herself. "I just want them to go away." Red mixed within her tears as she cried, wanting to give everything to not see again. The crashing of a trash can sounded behind her. That reflex you have out of fear or surprise had caused her to peek over her shoulder. 'Why did I look?' Able to see in blurs through her hair, the form she saw made her cry out again. Falling back onto the sidewalk, immobility struck her. That immediate sense of death, knowing this was it, she couldn't run anymore. Out of the last bit of will she had left, she lifted her hand and chucked the book she was holding on to. "Fuck you!" The book bashed against the creature's head, only to fall to the cement unnoticed. Through its nostrils, a deep huff sounded in irritation. The girl gasped as the beast leapt towards her in two long strides. It shook with insane laughter, breaking the silence in the night.
