Run away! I NEED to RUN AWAY!
That's all that passed through my head as I saw the Giant Centipede chasing after me.
I couldn't care less about making a plan, I forgot all my fighting experiences from my previous life, I even forgot the fact that I was not a human but the Dungeon Lord.
Well, not that it would make much difference, right? No, actually it did! Thanks the Creators it did! It did so much that one cant describe in just a few lines.
First of all, being a Dungeon Lord gave me many perks that no common human could obtain. By being able to use Chantless Mana Manipulation and Mana Reinforcement, it was like being able to receive a Priest's buff without the Priest, at anytime I wanted. But that was not all, because it was an Innate skill, I would use it unconsciously, no matter how panicked I was, and you can bet I was damn panicked at the time! It was exactly the sum of all these that allowed me to run at a speed similar to the monster behind me. As for the other two reasons...just watch me and you will find out soon. ;)
As I took step after step, running at a speed faster than I ever ran before, my feet were engraved at the floor as if to guide the Giant Monster behind me.
I took left, right, left, trying to confuse the monster but it seemed completely ineffective as it didn't lose any speed. And it was exactly because of this zigzag running mindlessly through the tunnels that I finally found myself in a dead end with no place to escape.
"Oh damn it! Why did I have to try looking into the stupid orange place!?"
The Giant Centipede didn't care about my feelings and didn't waste time in jumping right on me.
Time seem to grow slower as I saw the Monster jumping without any reservation. I reacted by reflex covering my whole body with a layer of Mana and dodging to the side, head first with closed eyes.
I rolled once, twice, a few more and finally stopped. I opened my eyes just to find out I had run through the wall.
(O_O)!?
\^_^/
"Nice!!!"
On the other side of the wall the Giant Centipede was writhing in pain, from hitting it's head against the wall. But it didn't take long for it to recover and start chasing me again.
Although I doubt the Building System was projected to be used like this, I couldn't care less about the creator's opinion and only thank his great work.
As I started to run again, I not only kept taking random passage ways like before, but also started jumping though the walls to gain some space.
Sure enough my strategy worked and I gained distance from the Giant Centipede, but no matter how far I got from it, it was still able to keep on my track.
"Maybe it's following my smell? Thinking back, I have never took a bath ever since I wake up in this place. Urg.... I must smell pretty bad, no wonder it is able to always find me..."
I want to take a bath... T_T
Time didn't stop as we were playing cat and mouse, and soon a whole day had gone by.
As I slowed down, having random thoughts, it appeared again.
"Damn it! Can't you give up already!? You have been chasing me for a whole day!! I still need to find some Mana crystals!!"
As I ran away, I found myself in front of the Static Thunder trap again.
"Oh no, got to dod--aaaahhhh"
As I thought of dodging by digging the walls, I didn't see Muddy right in front of my feet. I ended up tripping on it and rolling toward the Static Thunder trap.
"Aaaaahhhhhhh!!!!"
....
....
....
?? What? No pain?
Once before I had tried to disable the Static Thunder trap, by destroying the summoning circle below it. Unfortunately, things didn't work out. As soon as I tried to touch it, the thunder hit me, burning my whole arm. Fortunately the thunder also threw me away, or else I could end up dead by my own trap.
I tried using Mana to resist the thunder, but it was still too strong for me, that's why I'm so confused by results this time.
As I found myself stunned by the lack of pain, behind me there was someone even more shocked than me by the full effects of the Static Thunder. The pain it was feeling was so strong it wasn't able to even let out a scream.
I don't know if it thought it was an illusion, since I passed through, or it just had no sense of fear. All I know is that the Giant Centipede had jumped right after me and now found itself stuck in the trap.
I won't tell you my reaction as I looked back to protect my image, let's just say the view scared me a lot.
Anyway, the Static Thunder kept striking again and again and soon the whole Giant Centipede was as black as coal, then it started to dissolve in black particles and finally disappeared completely, leaving only the monster core.
The whole episode gave me quite a scare, so as I finally understood that the danger was over, my body and mind relaxed completely and I immediately fell asleep.
...
After an unknown amount of time....
I woke up with Muddy poking my face.
"Hmm...what? Muddy? I fell asleep? OH NO! THE TIME LIMIT!!!"
I ran to the Dungeon Core.
"Status!"
[Undestood!]
