Chapter 590 - Black Empress of Death vs. Abyss Emperor (2)

Still, she had to admit that the power of the Abyss Emperor was very high, and she sensed some kind of subtle soul-based attacks on her person from the Abyss Emperor, which was making the creature or whatever it was even more dangerous than it already was.

Soul-based attacks were always more dangerous than normal physical or magical attacks because defending against the soul attacks required either high expertise within the Law of Soul or some Soul Protection Artifact.

Fortunately for Hela, her Godhood of the Black Empress of Death was highly related to the Laws of Soul, and she was very proficient in the Laws of Souls, which allowed her to protect herself from a great deal of soul-based attacks.

On top of that, she also had a method of defending against such attacks even without this because she had several Soul Protection Artifacts of the highest grade that were obtained by her husband from Cultivation-based Universes.

The Abyss Emperor had a relatively humanoid appearance, apparently, a very human-like appearance.

However, he had some aspects from the demons, including a demon-like tail as he looked at Hela with wariness, anger and hatred.

Meanwhile, Hela could sense some kind of almost Divine-like power from the Abyss Emperor, something that was pretty much similar to her own. For several upcoming seconds, both of them were looking at each other; nobody made the first move as they awaited the move of their opponent as the first one.

Hela was gripping her Necroswords in her hands, looking ready to strike at any given moment if the Abyss Emperor gave her a chance to strike. She was a patient woman in combat, even though her husband often told her that when she was fighting, she was overcome by her anger and bloodlust.

But after millennia, she was much better at handling the bloodlust and anger she felt when she was fighting. She could still vividly remember that when she was much younger, she was much more prone to losing control; now, it was almost impossible for her to lose control during combat.

In a split of a second, Hela appeared in front of the Abyss Emperor; the greenish-black Necrotic Energy was enveloping both of her Necroswords, flaming like it was a burning fire as she slashed at the Abyss Emperor.

Hela's movements were filled with grace, as they were with dread and death. Aiming directly at the vital points of the Abyss Emperor, she went for the sure-kill in one hit, not giving anyone any opportunities.

However, she knew that the first attacks would be futile against someone on the level of the Abyss Emperor. But, at the same time, this was not even her aim because the first strike was aimed to gauge the exact strength of the Abss Emperor, something that one could learn only during combat.

She wanted to force the Abyss Emperor to use either all or at least the majority of his power so she could know the exact strength of her opponent and, from there on, plan the exact moves against the Abyss Emperor.

Something that would require some degree of strategy and planning to be successful.

Upon the clash of their weapons, an enormous shockwave swept through the entire area; for sure, if there were some buildings or anything, it would be obliterated to the atomic level from the sheer power that was released from the two Tier 12 entities clashing against each other.

Seeing this, Hela grinned to herself because it was a pretty long time since she met someone strong enough to engage her in full single combat, to experience a real Life and Death duel.

Something that she longed for, though at the same time, she also knew deep in her mind that such a thing was impossible because if it came to the worst, then her husband would for sure intervene to save her life.

It was rather a weird feeling because such thoughts filled her with happiness and warmth, but at the same time, she also longed to experience life-and-death duels, like in the old time of the Draconic Deus.

After the moment of their clash, both of them created distance between each other, but soon after the first clash, the next ones ensued. And they were even more brutal than before because both of them started exerting more and more power in their clashes.

Hela's Necrotic Energy was something that was stemming from her very own Godhood Black Empress of Death and it was very efficient against the Abyss Emperor who was forced to defend against the corrosive and corruptive elements of the Necrotic Energy.

This was Hela's strongest weapon in her disposition, she knew very well that her Necrotic Energy, with its corruption capabilities, was her best weapon and she also knew that she needed to get the Necrotic Energy into the Abyss Emperor's body.

The two of them were clashing in an exchange with their swords; the Abyss Emperor was showing an excellent level of swordsmanship and was able to defend against the Hela's attacks rather effectively.

However, if there was one thing that was giving Hela an advantage in the combat, it was time. As more and more time passed, she was using this time to spread more and more Necrotic Energy around the entire place, which, in turn, was creating some sort of Pseudo-Domain.

The Abyss Emperor naturally noticed this, but unfortunately for him, every time he tried to do something against the continuous spread of the Necrotic Energy, it proved to be futile. Hela knew very well that she couldn't give him any opportunity to sabotage her efforts to create the Pseudo-Domain of the Necrotic Energy.

Surprisingly enough, the Necrotic Energy and the Pseudo-Domain created from it was resonating very well with the Pure Land as a whole, as she noticed that it was passively strengthening her own Pseudo-Domain.

In truth, it wasn't that surprising.

After several more minutes, the entire Pseudo-Domain was strengthened enough to the point, where Hela could use it in the single combat, which was proving itself rather splendidly.
