The next couple of days went by in a blur for Yu Huiyin. She was confined to a hospital bed, and when she wanted to go for a stroll in the garden outside, or just around the hospital, two bodyguards would follow her every move.
During the day, she would spend her time trying to get some information about Xie Jingyu from the two bodyguards, but neither of them replied to her; it was as fruitful as speaking to a door.
During the evenings, when Xie Jingyu would return from work, the bodyguards then retold everything that Yu Huiyin had done that day, including what questions she might have asked and what she had eaten.
Knowing that she held some interest in his life and who he was, Xie Jingyu felt a childlike excitement. Was she really falling for him?
But upon witnessing that she was still in a cold war with him, his excitement died out somewhat. Even so, he was not dejected.
One day her heart would belong to him; he was certain of it.
Every day after work, Xie Jingyu would come to the hospital and eat a wholesome dinner with Yu Huiyin, after which he would stay the night in the connected bedroom.
Like this, a week passed by. Yu Huiyin had been under observation for long enough, and her wound was healing well. It was time for her to be discharged.
Xie Jingyu had taken the day off and had ordered Assistant Song to come with a suit for him, and a white shirt alongside a pair of jeans and white sneakers for Yu Huiyin.
Yu Huiyin had heard him give the oddly specific order of what she was supposed to wear, but she was unaware of why it was so specific.
When she had changed into the clothes within the bathroom, she was quite surprised. The size fit her perfectly.
She came out, looking fresh. Her long hair was tied into a high ponytail; her delicate neck was accentuated.
She was looking youthful and beautiful. The bruises and cuts on her face had vanished, she was completely like a fairy that had descended to the mortal world, with skin like snow and bones of jade. She was simply the most attractive woman that Xie Jingyu had ever seen.
"Let's go," Xie Jingyu said as he took Yu Huiyin's hand in his own. He did not let her protest, and he tightened his hold on her side, leading her out of the hospital where a Maybach was waiting for them.
Xie Jingyu was not driving the car himself. Instead, Assistant Song went over to the driver's seat.
Xie Jingyu gently helped Yu Huiyin to enter the car before he climbed in and sat by her side. "We are going to get our marriage certificate now," Xie Jingyu said to Assistant Song, who smoothly drove the car towards the public office where one could get their certificates.
"I don't have my household register," Yu Huiyin started to slightly panic. Was she going to marry this man? Now his choice of clothes made sense to her; he wanted her to look pretty on their wedding picture!
Feeling slightly flustered, Xie Jingyu looked at her for some time and then smiled. "I already said we would get married when we got you discharged from the hospital. Now that you are, it is only natural for us to follow the contract."
"You can't be serious!" Yu Huiyin's eyes widened in shock, and her heart was in chaos. She was so young, and she was already going to get married! To a man she had only just met!
"You signed the contract," Xie Jingyu said as he understood her expression. He was not going to let her go. "If you want to avoid this, hand over ten million dollars. Not yuan, but dollars."
Hearing this, Yu Huiyin paled in anger, "You tricked me!" she said indignantly, she was like a small kitten whose tail had been stepped on, she had her claws brandished and ready to scratch, but her scratch was merely a tickle to Xie Jingyu.
"Yeah I did," he admitted generously before raising his hand and caressing her chin, "but you signed the papers, and now you have to actually do what you promised."
"Aren't you afraid of getting your reputation ruined?" Yu Huiyin asked as she narrowed her eyes. "Marrying a poor girl with no knowledge of the upper classes, I am crude and brass, I do not fit in your world."
"Who dares to mock me?" Xie Jingyu smiled when he heard that she had changed her tactics. "Do not worry, I will always be on your side. I won't let you down either."
While hearing this promise, Yu Huiyin almost screamed, "LET ME DOWN, PLEASE!"
If he let her down, then she could request a divorce!
Unfortunately, Xie Jingyu did not understand nor hear her internal pleading. He once again, domineeringly, grasped her hand and dragged her to the office where they could get their vows taken, and their certificates created.
It all happened in a blur to Yu Huiyin. It was clear that Xie Jingyu had booked the entire place, he was smiling from they entered, and until they left with two small red booklets in their hands.
Yu Huiyin was confused, shocked, and genuinely startled. The process was simple, and because Xie Jingyu spent some extra money, all Yu Huiyin needed was her ID card, which somehow had ended up in Xie Jingyu's hands.
Just like that, she was married.
She was unable to comprehend what had happened in full, but after taking a deep breath and glaring at the man, she put the booklet into her bag, which had been prepared by Assistant Song beforehand.
