Chapter 9 - chapter 9

My smile widened even more as I cast more binding magic on him. I may be bad with binding magic but if it is against a weak enough being I am able to contain them for about two hours but my sister can pretty much bind any being but the time limit depends on how strong the being is and whether or not it is stronger than herself. I use some wind magic to levitate all of the bandits and myself down.

"Haro you didn't leave any for me you meanie," Halo says with a joking expression on her face as she removes the barrier around the carriage and yells "all clear".

"Everything okay?" Samuel asks as he gets out of the carriage. He looks over and notices the bandits bound by magic and asks " so did you have any problems capturing them ?"

"Nope, they were weak enough that I was able to capture them without using my sword and just using some magic," I say with confidence.

"Is there a reward or something for capturing bandits?" my sister asks Samuel.

"There is. Once we reach the city gate we can turn them in and get your reward there," Samuel says

"Okay then," Halo says as she takes over the binding magic from me. We walk for about another hour and a half further without disturbance and the city gates come into view. They were huge and from the looks of it made completely out of stone. It was amazing I never thought that there was something that was made to be that big in the world.

I guess that Rena saw the expression on my face because said "You two never saw anything like that at home did you," my sister who was walking beside me had the same expression on her face. Both our faces turned red after Ms. Wolfshire said that.

"This is the capital of the country that we are in right now, Akima, the school that is in there is considered to be the best on the continent," Samuel said with a smile of pride on his face

We continue to walk for about another hour or so until we reach the gates. Soldiers were everywhere checking carriages and wagons, but when they saw our carriage coming they started running over to us.

" Mr. Wolfshire what's going on" I whisper over to him before they reach us

"Don't worry about just do as I say and don't make any sudden moves you will find out soon what is going on" He says quietly back.

"City lord we were worried when you did not arrive yesterday and what happens to your guards" one of the soldiers asked. I noticed that the soldier was glaring at me and my sister for some reason.

" They are all dead. We were ambushed when passing by the magic beast forest by bandits" Samuel replies in a calm tone.

"And what are these elves doing here Sir," the soldier said in a disgusted tone when he said the word elves.

"They are my family's current bodyguards and if you will be useful go get them their reward for bringing in the 11 bandits behind us," Samuel said. The soldier looked shocked. If I had to guess what he was thinking it would be, why do I have to give a reward to these filthy elves. I had heard from my parents that discrimination against non-humans was heavy in cities but I never guessed that it was this bad to the point that even the soldiers would discriminate against them.

"Yes Sir," he said as he grabbed the rope that was holding the bandits. We had changed from magic to rope so that we could more easily lead them around. We continued onward and reached the gate where they had already prepared our reward for the bandits I took the bag of 11 silver and put it into my pocket.

" Thank You," I said to the soldier

" May I see your ID elf?" He said aggravated

"Sure here you go," I said as I passed it to him

" And you too Ms. elf " My sister gave her card over to the solder with a smile.

He passed our cards back to us and said "all clear you are free to go"

"Thanks," we said as we put the ID back into our pockets. We continued on word passing through the gate and into the city.
