Chapter 17 - Lifestyle Magic

Another class ends.

Acyuta waited for the next period. Looking to his phone again, he wanted to check on what was next on his schedule.

"Lifestyle Magic! This should be interesting." Said Acyuta after checking the next class.

So far schooling has been quite peaceful. Other than the incident that happened in the morning, everything else seems to be great.

"Not a bad first day."

As for the for the bully, he had long since left the class under the teacher's instruction. Who knows what he's doing now?

The first few classes had been theories and so forth, now was a practical lesson. Learning magic.

"As far as I can see, this class is a lower end class. That is to say, our magic capabilities are not highly acknowledged." Acyuta said after some contemplation.

Like the the others, he left the main class and headed to the place where the practical magic display lesson will take place.

As Acyuta followed along with the other students, suddenly, someone came up and spoke to him. It was Kevin!

"Yo, bro!" Kevin called, coming over to Acyuta. His appearance was thrilling but his movements were always taken with caution. Now and then he would look over his shoulder, it was like he was alerted that his life was threatened.

"Kevin, am I right?"

"Hahaha, of course, of course. Who else can this brother be?" Replied Kevin, showing a happy smug on his face.

"So... What's up?"

After Acyuta asked him, Kevin kept quiet for a bit as if he were thinking. Then he smiled back at Acyuta and said. "Remember what happened in class? It was strange wasn't it?"

"What was?" Acyuta asked, not sure what was being referred to.

"Ricardo, man! He threw the paper at her, Whitney. That was hilarious. I can't imagine what's going to happen to him." Kevin replied while walking along side Acyuta.

The conversation went on for some time until they arrived at their destination. Kevin still kept looking over shoulder. Probably trying to avoid or watch out for the girl in a knight's uniform.

When Acyuta and his class mates came to the arena, it was not surprising to see teacher Clark present. It was mentioned on Acyuta's schedule who was teaching this class.

The arena was huge but only a small section was used for the class. All the students lined up and took their seats. Again Kevin tagged with Acyuta.

Clark who is the teacher for the class took notice of Acyuta's presence. He gave a satisfied nod of the head, the new student, Actuta, was a stalwart in his understanding of magic even though his magic capabilities are considered mediocre to almost non existent.

Clark began his class.

"Lifestyle magic is the common class magic. There is little to no combat capabilities. This is the type of magic that many spellcasters use for everyday use. From cooking to just making your sandwich warm." Clark lectured then continued.

"This type of magic has low mana consumption. But more importantly. Lifestyle magic stems from pre elemental invocation."

The lecture went on for a few more minutes until he started showing some practical demonstrations. Unlike the others, Acyuta was far behind.

"I don't know any spells." He commented. Acyuta turned to Kevin who seems to be his partner in this practice exercise.

"Can you teach me some spells?" Acyuta asked.

Kevin was well to do. He invoked a spell and summoned a small flame, it was tiny and although it was small even the heat it gave off didn't burn.

"My potential is higher, that why I can directly summon a flame. But almost all with low potential generally can only cast a heat wave. I'm one of the awesome ones in the class."

Acyuta learned this heating spell from the fat buddy and began to practice it himself afterwards. The spell was simple, after casting it, at the tip of his finger an almost reddish yet transparent magic circle manifested. The magic formation of the circle was tiny but the heat it gave off was real.

"That's too bad." Kevin gave his verdict then continued. "If your potential was higher then won't need any medium to summon a flame."

Kevin went away. He hadn't left Acyuta to himself, instead the fatty went to his bag and pulled out a piece of paper. When he returned to his partner he handed it to Acyuta.

Kevin said. "Recast the spell again with this."

Having received the paper, Acyuta cast the spell again. The torn piece of paper was held between his thumb and index finger. A magical circle constructed itself with the paper as it's centre.

Boof!

The heat shot out after being invoked and suddenly the paper lit up in flames. The only portion of the paper that remained untouched by the fire was held in Acyuta's hand below the spell circle.

"So this is how it works." Seeing the reaction of the paper he got an idea of how Lifestyle magic works.

"Only those who are the lowest of the lowest would need a medium to invoke an actual element. As for others with higher abilities don't need a medium as the spell would be no more than a weaker version of elemental magic like fireball. I think I get it."

Acyuta felt inspired by his train of thought. He went to ask what are the other forms of Lifestyle magic. To learn all will certainly be useful. It's Lifestyle Magic after all.
