"Why?! Why there?!" Serena asked her mom furiously.
"Because Serena, you need to get away from here. You need to get Dax out of your mind." Serena's mom was guiding dead spirits out of her house.
"Mom, you know I can't just forget about him...and I refuse to believe that you've forgotten him."
"I'm sorry but I have, I've moved on. And so should you." She closed the door after the last spirit and turned to me with an annoyed face.
"What about what I want? Why can't I have a say in this? I'm the one getting sent away here!"
"No, you need to leave for a while," she said, attempting to look intimidating. Serena would never be intimidated by her mom. Serena was a powerful demon, thanks to her dad, and her mom was just a mortal.
"But why there though?! I don't want to be around all those prissy and peppy princesses, and those princes who try their hardest to get a princess, and the princess dresses up nicely all the time and they purposely drop their books so a prince can help her pick them up! Plus don't you know what they do to demons! Remember what they did to Dax, look at the end result!" I held back tears at the thought of what happened.
"Just deal with it. And yes I know and I do remember, I wish I could forget. But I can guarantee you that if you don't show you're afraid of them they won't do anything, Dax was an idiot for not listening to me. If you don't wanna end up like Dax listen to me and heed my warning.
"By the way, I already enrolled you, and the first day of school is today, you leave in ten minutes, I hope you're packed." She went to her room. Serena howled with anger. She stormed off to her room as well, slamming the door. Serena quickly packed everything she thought she needed for school.
When she was done, she looked at her alarm clock. She had two minutes left before she would leave for her worst nightmare. She walked into her mom's room, letting two suitcases float by her side.
"Okay, I'm ready, where do I fly to?" Serena asked through gritted teeth and with a sour face and tone.
"You don't need to fly anywhere."
"What? I don't understand." Serena's face lightened and got a curious aspect to it.
"They sent a carriage to take you, it should be here any minute now, behave." The carriage arrived in our living room just seconds later and she reluctantly got in.
"Wait! Is dad going to say bye before I leave?" Serena asked with a hopeful face but, in the back of her mind she knew the answer her mom would cheerfully say.
"No, he's not, he has work to attend to." Her mom's tone did indeed have that cheerful tone she hadn't hoped for.
Serena's face fell blank for a split second before it filled with anger. "He always does," Serena mumbled while crossing her arms. Then the carriage rode off, as it took off a portal appeared in front of it and went though smoothly.
The portal took Serena to the front of the school where the coachman told her to get out. She stepped out of the carriage and slowly looked around, taking in her surroundings. Serena looked at how big the school was, it didn't even look like a school, it was the shape of a castle. She looked at all the people outside who were talking to their friends and she had a glimpse of some people inside who were also mingling.
Some of the people Serena saw inside were loading stuff into their locker with ease. She saw some of the lockers suddenly change from color to color and she got a bit scared. Serena didn't think a whole lot about what this new school would be like, just about the people in it. The people are what makes a school a prison or a home. Right now, it was feeling like a prison to her.
Lots of people were pointing at various parts of her, frightened or smiling. Serena had a dark red shirt on with black jeans that had chains all over them and black sneakers. Her hair was natural blood red curls that went down to the middle of her back. Her wings were black as night.
One girl strutted up to Serena like she was on a runway, looked her up and down and then glared. Serena was staring at her, confused the whole time. The girl had brown hair tied up in a high ponytail, draping over her shoulder. She wore a blue dress that looked like a blue bra at the top but it connected to a giant skirt. She also had gold heels on with a sparkly silver tiara with many jewels on it.
As Serena took another look at everyone, she saw that they all have crowns on with plenty of jewels. "What are you doing here? Fairies aren't allowed! Especially not dark...or fire...or whatever you are," yelled the girl. She spoke with a little fear and doubt in her tone.
"I'm not a fairy." In contrast, Serena spoke with confidence.
"Then what are you? Who are your parents?"
"The Devil." Serena smirked, knowing the reaction she'd get.
The girl gasped, her face filling with fear. "T-t-the Devil?!" She squealed and ran away. Serena lifted one hand to her ear with that squeal. Her squeal hurt Serena's ears quite a bit and made her a little dizzy. Everybody stared at the girl, then looked at Serena.
"...sup." Serena did a little wave next to her chest. Everyone started screaming and running around. She went into her backpack and took out her black hoodie, put it on and pulled the hood over her head. Some adults came out and tried to calm everyone down, but they did so unsuccessfully.
Serena walked inside and searched for a locker. She saw lots of pink lockers, and many yellow ones too. Serena was a bit scared at the look of the place, she thought it was too bright. She walked over to a green locker and looked at it. It wasn't decorated with anything, it was only painted green.
Serena decided her locker would be next to the only manageable color. She was inspecting the locker, confused because it had no padlock. There was a black screen on the top center part of the locker, so she touched it and the screen lit up with life. Everything looked so complicated to her. The icon that said 'Combination' caught her eye so she tapped it and it brought her to a keypad that told her to enter what she wanted her combination to be. She pressed three and clicked enter.
Then she went back and selected the icon titled 'Color' which she assumed is what you use to paint your locker. It took her to a list of colors, she scrolled all the way to the bottom and selected black. Serena opened her locker and started organizing her stuff in it. The bell eventually rang for first period.
