Sunlight seeped through my eyelids causing me to wake up, groaning I stretched and stood up still half asleep.
"Gotta get to school." with that thought passing through my head I jolted awake. It took me a moment to remember that I wasn't in my room like normal. The shock made me almost fall.
"So it wasn't a dream after all," I whispered. Standing up I looked around once more. My 'new' room had a bed, a drawer, and a window. Walking to the window, I looked out and to another great shock saw an apple float down into a basket. Wiping my eyes thinking that it was just an illusion, I peered out only to see the same scene happen again.
"Magic. That's what it is," I spoke out in joy, "HAHA that's amazing! I wonder if I could use any type of magic." Rushing downstairs to greet the people who I didn't know. After introductions, I found out that the old man had been a servant to my new family ever since our glory days and that his name is Charles. My new family had once been a big family with grand magicians and S-rank adventurers. Then the war happened, causing the family to suffer immense losses with all of our magicians and S-rank adventurers dying during battle. The pain was then worsened as one of the young masters was a spendthrift, causing the family to fall on harder times. This happened over a time period of 500 years. Now it's what it is today. We discussed the history of the family and how I apparently had an older brother. The conversation ended with Charles asking me if there was anything else that I needed or wanted to know about.
"Is there any books on magic I could look at?" I ask after some thought.
"Yes, we have some in the library. This is the first time you've shown an interest in something like this, is there a reason?" replied Charles.
"No, I just find it interesting now," I spoke as I looked over my shoulder. I rushed to the small warehouse around the back, sliding the door open only to be greeted by a bomb of dust. Coughing, I walked in to find a shelf full of books. Although lots of them were worn out, they all were still readable. I made around 15 roundabout trips just to take all the books to my room. I was out of shape in this world, not chubby mind you, but just weak.
"Looks like I'll need to do some exercise to become stronger. As was once said 'Rome wasn't built in a day' so nether will strength be gained in a day." I said while brimming with excitement. So I started to read the books one by one until I was done, and overall they had some interesting knowledge about the theories of magic. Shutting the book that I had just finished, I walked downstairs to greet the people again as it had been a week of me being cooped up in my room reading.
"Hello everyone!" I spoke out announcing my presence.
"Look who shows himself once again!" A jolly oldish man bellowed. After a few unimportant conversations, I finally excused myself to go outside.
Rushing to a nearby forested reign,
I finally could start to practice the basics of magic. Myself of course had never even tested to see if I was able to use magic, so I really had no clue as to how I would determine my potential or if there was a certain limitation on what types of magic I could use.
The book described the types that the world had to offer such as Air, Fire, Water, Earth, Light, and Darkness. There were various underclasses for each type as well as the chance of being able to combine more than one and get a totally new magic element or style. Say to create a snowstorm, the types of magic you would need to combine would be Air and Water.
The one problem that I have, is the fact that I currently have no way to see what elements I have access to.
I stopped walking when I felt that there was no one else around to see. Thinking back to the book on how to draw out the Mana, The description said something like this.
For you to draw out your magical power, let's first talk about where all of that magic or Mana is stored. In your chest, there is a cavity that holds your core. Your core is what allows you to cast and sense the Mana in the air or in yourself. In order to activate this core, you will need to sit in a cross-legged position with your palms together. Once you have done that fold your to middle fingers so that only four fingers remain. Close your eyes and spread your consciousness out to the streams of the Air that will start to make itself known. once you have a clear understanding of the streams, try and connect to the other elements like the Land, Fire, and Water. This method is the most simple as it can tell you what elements you are able to use. if you can sense but not connect with that element then you will not be able to use it.
That was the last sentence for the book. I sat down and did as the book told, pressing my palms together and folding my two middle fingers. Shutting my eyes I felt the currents of the Air, not stopping I tried to manipulate the stream by making a little gust hit me.
The perfect temperature suddenly was interrupted by a small shiver down my spine, one with the strength to cause nausea. My mind spun while I tried to regain my thoughts, with a single one taking first place.
I had the ability to use Air magic.
