Chapter 7 - New Changes

As I walk out of the town wall towards the field, I realize that my world has changed. Instead of one road coming out from the town and splitting into two when it hits the wheat field, the road now splits immediately after leaving the town, forming a V shape. To the right, the road runs directly perpendicular to and through the wheat field until it runs into the river. To the left, the road curves more gradually until it runs along the edge of the wheat field.

What's more surprising then the road change however is that the wheat field has jumped over the road and onto the other side. Where it used to be a big dirt field is now mostly wheat. The big stone wall still has a couple hundred feet of dirt field opposite of the ocean's corner, but now instead of continuing on as a dirt field forever, it eventually turns into wheat or road.

Stuck between fields of wheat, it seems now that the road is going somewhere, so I follow it. The surroundings blur. Instantly, I reach the entrance to a lush green forest. Focusing in on the forest, I realize that the forest cuts off the wheat field on both sides, and that the road continues through it. The forest warps as I try to iron out the particulars. What type of trees are in this forest? Is it maple? Birch? Pine? No, definitely not pine. How close are the trees together? Are they spread out or are they stuck together, unable to see through them?

Trees flash and grow, blurs move and change shape as the forest sets its shape. I'm creating a peaceful place, I tell myself. A blend of different trees show up in the forest. Averaging ten feet away from each other, different species of Maple, Birch, and Sycamore fill the woods. Every tree has plenty of room to grow and to absorb the sunlight in their canopies. Different herbs and small grasses dot the woods and fill in some of the ground space. The path looks inviting, but for now I return back to my soon to be town.

As I enter back through the stone archway, I realize the space for the town is too small. Sure I imagined a quaint little place, but three hundred feet in diameter is not large enough to host a proper community, and definitely wouldn't have the resources to build their nice stone wall. The town expands to three thousand feet in diameter, and with it everything else moves away. The ocean is about one hundred feet away and the wheat fields three hundred. Everything seems better now. There is more space to breath.

Heading back to the ocean, I realize that if people are to fish, then they need a pier. A wooden pier arises from the water and extends a hundred feet out from the shore. Paddle boats and canoes rise up and tie themselves to the wooden posts. I worry about the productiveness of a paddle boat on the ocean and how easy that would be to fish, but it seems fitting for this small town to not know how to sail yet.
