I jolted up, breathing quickly. I looked around to find I was in yet another random room. But, Nalia and Jared where no wheres to be seen.
Did they get me? Is this another stupid room that belongs to that royal prick? I thought. I slowly got up this time. I looked myself over and counted my wounds. My arm, leg, and bottom right side were my main ones. The worst ones. I knew for a fact they would scar and I would have to watch them to make sure they didn't tear open again. The rest was just tiny cuts and bruises. Most of them were basically healed. Either that or they had a polutic or bandage over them. Now that I checked myself over. It was time to scope my scene out. The walls were stone and the floor was maple wood. I could see some oak too. There were two windows in the room to my left. They weren't too big but big enough to have window seat for two people. The one closest to me had a white blanket and a couple decorated black pillows. There was a bunch of boxes under the window. On the other side was a bunch of pink and white stuff everywhere. Another bed, dresser, and closet was on the other side. My side was the same but it was all plain as if it was never touched. Except for the circle hammock that hung on my side. There was a blanket on it also with a book. A girl walked in. she had silvery-white hair with black roots. Her eyes were a icy-cold blue. But held light in them. She was decently tall and was wearing a white blouse with a black jacket over it. her skirt was a dark blue. She wore black heels and knee high, white socks. She went over to the boxes and lifted one up. When she turned around and saw me awake, she dropped the box. But before it hit the ground, she flung out her hand and it stopped inches above the floor. It slowly touched the ground. She walked over and carefully sat on the bed, making sure not to hurt me. I stared at her.
"You're finally awake,"she said, looking me over carefully.
"Where am I?" I asked her, cutting to the chase.
"Like getting straight to the point, huh?" she laughed. When I didn't say anything she signed and grabbed her arm nervously.
"You're in the '8 Kingdoms Academy' or known as the EKA," she explained. As soon as she said the name I racked my brain for all the town names and maps. But I couldn't find anything. I felt my head go light and my vision turn white for a brief moment. I snapped at her and immediately put my barriers up. The girl snapped her head at me. She smiled.
"Well you won't find this place because only royal families can known about this. But never mind that. Where did you learn magic? I can't feel anything flow from you. Wait no. Why aren't you here if you have magic?" she questioned. She leaned in closer to me. Now that she mentioned it, I could feel something weird. It was like a warm summer breeze, but it felt tingly and alive. But the windows were shut. It seemed to be coming from the girl and this… place.
"Uh… girl, what's your name?" I asked. She finally sat back, giving me more space.
"Like to be mysterious, huh? Well im Mia! You are?" she said, scratching the back of her neck.
"Im… im…" I started to say but I wasn't sure it I could trust her or not, "Im…. Azura."
"Nice name," she said. I decided she was too stupid to do anything. But I still didn't want to underestimate her.
"Oh! I'll go get the principles. Wait here," she said getting up. She ran out the door and down the hall. I got up, making sure to go slow this time. Thankfully my clothes were still on. I didn't need to waste time. I poked my head into the hallway. When she disappeared around the corner, I went the opposite way. I turned the corner and ran into someone. They slipped and grabbed onto my bad arm to steady themselves. Instead they only yanked me with them. I screamed but feel down as well. As soon as I processed everything, I pushed myself up and looked at them. I gasped. Right there in front of me was Liam Rosen. My ex-fiance and best friend. He looked at me in confusion. His eyes seemed to ask why I was here.
"Liam…" I said in a shaky voice. I snapped my mouth shut, afraid I would cry. He disappeared years ago. His parents wouldn't say where he went. I cried for days.
"Azura…?" he asked. He seemed to ask more than state. I got up quickly and turned around to face away from him. I wiped a tear away wth my sleeve. I felt his hand rest lightly on my shoulder. It felt so familiar. He would always do that when I was crying. He wanted to give me space but still let me known he was there for me. Then I would turn around and hug him, crying. He would pat my head and tell me it was ok. The last time he did it was when my mother died. I didn't do anything though. I just stared straight ahead. Scared to turn around. I wasn't sure if I was aloud to hug him and cry like kids. I wasn't sure of anything anymore.
"Azura… can you please look at me?" he asked. His voice was deeper. God how i've missed his voice. He was the only guy I ever loved and went he left, it tore me up. I never loved any guy after he disappeared… or left? I felt his hand leave my shoulder. I tensed up, worried he left again and that I was imagining him. I turned around and looked at him. His green eyes rested on mine. He grabbed me by the waist and pulled me into a hug. I couldn't take it. I left my head slump into his neck and I cried. I felt his tighten his grip.
"Azura… its ok. I'm here for you. Im sorry… im so sorry," he said calmly. I could feel a wet tear hit my neck. I felt him shove his face into mine. I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. I gently pushed him away and I cupped his cheeks into my hands. I rested my forehead on his. When we would forgive each other, we would do that. So we didn't have to talk, but instead just listen. He let out a deep breath and I felt him relax. After a couple of minutes standing there, I let go. He hesitated but let go as well. I took a step back. I looked him over to see how he changed. His hair was still a dark brown. But not to dark. His green eyes were still bright as ever. The only thing about his appearance that has changed was his height. He wasn't too much taller than me but has definitely grown. And well… his clothes. He was wearing a similar thing to the girl from earlier. He had a white shirt, but didn't have a jacket on. He had black pants though with black shoes. He lifted his hand and nervously scratched his neck.
"How.. did you known it was me? Not my sister?" I asked. He looked at me quickly when I spoke. He seemed to take in my voice as if it was honey on toast. He signed.
"You were rushing in the halls. Nalia doesn't do that. And she would have scolded me for taking her down with me. You…. well. I don't known. I expected you to yell at me. But you seemed more hurt than mad and it just clicked…" he said. He wouldn't look me in the eyes till he stopped talking. His eyes burned into mine and I couldn't stand it. I missed him so much. I looked away and signed.
"I guess that makes sense. She it kinda up tight," I said with a small laugh. I looked at him to see him smiling. I was happy for a second. But then reality hit me. He's been gone for years and I don't even know where I am or why this place is hidden. He seemed to realize it too. He signed and waved his hand to follow him. He turned around and walked the direction he came from. We walked until we got outside. He pointed up. I looked to where his finger led to. There was a bunch of figures standing in a line except one. The figure walked back and forth. Suddenly, the figure pushed 2 of the figure. They both started falling. There shapes began to grow bigger and unfamiliar. They became dragons. The first one to transform lifted high in the air. The other one transformed later. For a minute it glided but then yanked to the side and crashed towards us. It was gaining speed and coming straight towards me. I started to panic but remembered the golden shield from before.
Don't fail me now, I thought, you did kinda get me into this mess. Now you're going to get me out. I took a deep breath and threw up my hand. The dragon was inches from me when my shield appeared. The dragon crashed into it, knocking me back a bit. When I opened my eyes, I was only inches from its brown face. It was huge and beautiful. It had branch like horns that resembled branches on a tree. The dragon was a light brown with dark brown here and there. It had a paint like mark over its eye that was dark brown. It had some moss hanging of its wings and body. But not a lot. I reached out my hand and rested it on its snout. It slowly opened its eyes to reveal the brightest green ive ever seen. I growled lightly and began to grown smaller until my hand was on dirty blond hair. I kneeled besides him. He groaned in pain. I helped him roll over so he can see the sky. He opened his eyes to reveal honey colored eye. Then had some blue in them as well.
"Hey it's ok. Just look at the sky, see how pretty it is. The clouds are so fluffy. Hey! That one looks like a cow," I said quietly. I tried to take his mind off the pain. It seemed to be working because he was smiling. He looked back at me and signed.
"I… I think… i'm ready to get up and try again," he croaked. His voice was filled with pain. I smiled at him and helped him up. He took a couple steps away from me and transformed. He bowed his massive head and nudged me. I laughed and patted his snout. I gave him a thumbs up and a bigger smile.
"I don't know if you can hear me, but try flying now. You can do it!" I said excitedly. He nodded and snapped open his wings. The dragon in the air roared. There were a couple more now. There were only 4 figures left, unless you counted the one that pushed the others. The brown dragon I helped lifted off into the air. He grew in height as he flapped up to the others. They seemed to cheer for him when he reached them. He did a small flip and roared. I smiled. Then I remembered I came with liam. I looked around to see him and 3 other figures walked towards me. One of them was Mia. the other two I didn't recognize. The male stepped forward.
"Hello. Im Florence. I'm the male principle," he said. He had short, curly brown hair with warm brown eyes. He was pretty tall and looked to be in his early twenties. The girl stepped forwards. She had short dirty blond hair. It went a little past her shoulders. But her face seemed to go with it. She has bright blue eyes that looked like the beach water.
"Im principle Liliac. I known it sounds weird," she laughed when I giggled, " i'm the female principle. I'm the one who will explain everything and figure out what to do with you." she waved her hand with a smile for me to follow her. I looked back at Liam but he was to busy talking to Mia. my stomach sank. I followed Liliac to her office and sat down across from her. She handed me a book. I looked at her in confusion. She only nodded. I opened the book to the first page and began to read it out loud.
"The EKA was built over 50 years ago. It is a school hidden because of the power is holds within. Only the royal family's and any kids who get sent there known of its existence. It is a place to build the army to defeat the dangers the prophecy says is coming. The kids that get sent hold special powers and abilities. All kids get a certain element. They can do other elements but are most powerful with their main. They all get only one dragon form, which is their main element. It is rare but some cannot access their dragon forms and become mages or a dragon rider. But it is extremely rare and…" I read. But when I noticed her smiling, I stopped immediately she clapped her hands together and let out a small laugh.
"Well you passed the first test. Only the children with dragon in them can read Drakon," she said. I snapped my name up at the word Drakon. You probably don't known but my last name is Drakon. Yep, my full name is Azura Drakon. She seemed to notice my head perk up.
"Is that familiar to you?" she asked, cocking her head. I gave her a quick dirty look but nodded.
"Its my last name," I said slowly. She had a quick startled expression but quickly smiled it away. She leaned back in her chair.
"You known what it means?" she asked.
"Yea dragon," I said.
"Ok but your first name. It means fire," she said.
"So?" I said with some attitude. She rolled her eyes.
"Fire. your first name means fire. I think you're a fire dragon," she said.
"Lame but whatever," I said, rolling my eyes.
"How is it lame?!" she said, jumping up. I could see the spark in her eyes. I could feel the heat coming from her.
"You're a fire dragon," I said. I smirked when gasped.
"How can you tell. You know nothing about dragons," she said.
"I can feel it. It's like a warm breeze, except its whispering to me," I tried to explain. She nodded as if she knew.
"Only tier 5 can do that. Oh! It's how powerful you are," she explained. She signed and turned around. She walked to her book shelf and started searching it until she came across 3 books. A blue, a red and a gold. She turned them around and handed them to me.
"I want you to stay with us. You got potential. I known it. I have already sent for your new roommate if you agree. But if you leave, we must erase your memory and return you home," she said smiling. I wasn't ready to go home and I really did want to stay. Something about it felt right. I nodded. She smiled and clapped her hands.
"Great, just wait out here in this chair. She's on her way and shell take you to your room. You can stay there for two days to read and get caught up and adjust," she said, leading me to a chair in the hall. I sat down and watched her walk back into the room and close to the door. I looked at the books. I opened the red one first, since it was on top. It just said stuff about the school, rules, classes, and history stuff. I turned to the blue. Inside was everything you needed to known about magic.

The rest of the text went into dragon. I could understand it but I got bored. I would look at spells later. I finally opened up the golden book to see a picture of a dragon. If fact, I flipped threw the pages. With each new page was a new species. But then I got to the end and the weirdest thing happened. A page appeared. There was a dragon. But it had no picture, name, or any info on it. It was as if it was never discovered. When my finger went over the page, it glowed. The sentence that said "Numbers: unknown" started to change. The word that read unknown went to one. I leaned closer confused. Until a shadow fell over the book. I snapped it up to look up and see blue eyes.
