Wang Jing stealthily opened the door. Her only goal was to reach the safety of her bed. Wang Jing felt going to the town was energy depleting, she even lost her beloved blanket! she couldn't help but sigh.
"Oh my my." A soft giggle entered Wang Jing ears.
This surely didn't belong to her mother.
"Aunt Mei..." Wang Jing looked behind her, cold sweats were forming.
"The test shouldn't be done yet, I wonder why little Jing is here." Xi Mei said in a sing song manner and pinched Wang Jing's cheek.
If Jia Li was an aloof beauty, Xi Mei was a beauty that smiles all day. Being serious won't suit her at all. This is why Wang Jing is careful around this aunt of hers, she smiles even if she's angry! That's scary!
"It hurts...let go..." Wang Jing pleaded.
"Okay, this auntie will stop if you accompany me." Xi Mei smiled sweetly. This triggered Wang Jing's survival instincts.
"Aunt Mei, Jing Jing wants to sle- rest. I came from the town and the queue was long but in the end I didn't pass." Wang Jing cringed at calling herself Jing Jing. For sleep! Wang Jing consoled herself.
"Please let Jing Jing rest her broken heart." Wang Jing softly said. Tears were threatening to fall, her long eyelashes shined as she looked down.
Xi Mei looked at her nephew. Truly, a daughter of her mother. Xi Mei couldn't count how many times Jia Li pulled this same stunt and her taking Jia Li's fake tears seriously. One could say, Xi Mei has a soft spot for Jia Li.
Wang Jing looked at her Aunt Mei's expression. She should let her go, right?! With this acting, men would flock to protect her. Sadly, her Aunt Mei's already immuned.
"That's not going to work on me little Jing." Xi Mei laughed when she saw Wang Jing's defeated expression.
Xi Mei grabbed Wang Jing's hand and they set off. Why is life so cruel?
"This...Aunt Mei...why are we here?" Wang Jing looked at her Aunt Mei then to the Village Chief's abode then back to Xi Mei.
"Little Jing, you're mother already knew something like this might happen. We'll just let you take the test here." Xi Mei smiled.
Huh? Test? Here? How? Wait, if that was possible why send me all the way to the nearby town?! Also, they knew what happened back in the town?!
"Little Jing is upset." Xi Mei patted Wang Jing's head.
"If you had something like that, why did I go and sacrifice my precious time?" Wang Jing grumbled.
"Don't mind, don't mind." Xi Mei giggled.
Xi Mei dragged the upset Wang Jing and entered the Village Chief's house.
"We're here!" Xi Mei announced their arrival.
"Took you long enough Mei." Jia Li walked towards them.
"What did you to my daughter?" Jia Li said when she saw Wang Jing's upset expression.
"What? Don't blame it on me Li Li. You made her upset." Xi Mei laughed and poked Jia Li's cheek.
Jia Li slapped Xi Mei's hand and thought of what her friend had just said. Made her upset?
"Wang Jing, look at mother." Jia Li met Wang Jing's gaze.
"Come on, tell me. Why are you upset?" Jia Li gently said as she fixed Wang Jing's hair.
"You were monitoring me, you should know by now..." Wang Jing mumbled.
Jia Li laughed and held her daughter's hand.
"We wanted you to normally enter the sect but its no longer possible with what happened back there."
"Little Jing should have just kicked that man's *beep* and get on with it." Xi Mei smiled sweetly. Her words and facial expression didn't match at all!
"Mei, you're scaring us." Jia Li commented.
"...uh...mom..."
"What is it?"
"Sorry...I didn't do anything when he called you beggars..." Wang Jing looked downwards. She was ashamed and frustrated.
"What are you talking about? You froze the guy, I think he'd be frozen for a day. Even a mid core formation cultivator would find it hard to unfreeze him." Jia Li smiled.
"Eh?" Wang Jing was dumbfounded.
"It'll take too long if I explain it to you. You should just see it for yourself."
Jia Li walked over with a crystal ball. Isn't that the one in the town plaza? Wang Jing hesitated but still put her hand on top of the ball. It lit up and crumbled as fine as snow, the dust even felt cold.
"This-" Wang Jing saw this same phenomenon back in the town.
"When you glared at the guy, the qi within you surged and froze the guy. It may still be in its raw form but the power behind that qi is strong. Even a peak core formation would have a hard time dealing with in." Xi Mei explained.
"Then my spiritual root is?" Wang Jing asked. There were four main roots: Earth, Fire, Water and air. Lightning was a rare spiritual root.
"It's snow, a rarely seen root." Jia Li said proudly.
Wang Jing was baffled. For someone so lazy, the heavens bestowed her a very rare spiritual root. She couldn't help but sigh, this root's going to waste.
"By the way, Mom why do you have that crystal?"
"Ah that...uh..." Jia Li frowned. How should she explain?
"All of the villagers are immortals." Xi Mei bluntly said.
Wang Jing dumbly looked at Xi Mei. Was her Aunt messing with her?
"What's with that look? Wait, you don't believe me?" Xi Mei whined.
"Okay little Jing watch closely!"
Xi Mei chanted a few incantations. After, the wrinkles on Xi Mei's face disappeared. Her skin went back to being youthful and vibrant. There wasn't a speck of blemish on her face. She looked that of an 18 year old. Xi Mei practically is legible to be called as Wang Jing's sister.
"Believe me now?" Xi Mei was proud when she saw Wang Jing's stupefied expression.
"Mom what-" Before Wang Jing finished her words, her mom did the same thing and went back to being young. If her mom wasn't taller then Wang Jing would have thought she was looking at a mirror.
"I thought we should tell you a bit later but things didn't go with the plan." Jia Li laughed.
"We'll take you to the sect tommorow."
