Chapter 23 - Chapter Twenty-Three: At A Different Time

Siran begins to charge magic into his gun, as he keeps him gun pointed at Athena's head. "Why would we need something like that?".

"You still don't know what you're dealing with here?" Athena asks. "Pitiful".

"I know who you are" Siran says. "I can recognize the name Athena...".

"Good, then let's cut to the chase" Athena says as she looks at Siran. "My job is... my goal is different than these fools you see by my side".

"Tch" Loki scoffs. "Pain in my ass...".

"I'm not here to fight for a certain side" Athena continues. "I'm here on a personal request to arrest those gods that are committing treason against our pact to not interfere with the human worlds. Don't get us confused... Loki may be by my side now, but we have completely different goals".

"And what exactly do you want from my son?" Siran asks as he grits his teeth in anger.

"Oh, I want something from you too" Athena says. "Your son has potential. A huge potential. Likely has the power to end this war singlehandedly. However, he also has the type of power that could consume a human soul. He may turn on us, and on you. I want to make sure that doesn't happen, and I want to show him how to fight properly. As for you, I've been made aware that you and your friends are capable people. In the meantime, help me corner Ares and the others, and I'll call it even".

"Call it even?" Siran growls. Siran pulls the trigger of his gun, and shoots at Athena. By the time Siran shot, Athena already moved to Siran's side and grabbed his arm so he couldn't adjust his aim and shoot at her a second time".

"I'll help you, if you help me" Athena says. "Understand who you're talking to here".

"Athena, you stubborn brat!" Loki shouts. Loki stands between Siran and Athena, and pushes the two away from each other. "I told you, we're not dragging the kid to war! I understand it seems like a good idea now, but think about their position! It's his son, Athena... his child. You really think a father would agree to something so easily?".

"What would you know!?" Athena asks.

"I think what you mean to say" Loki replies, "is what would you know? I also understand you're the goddess of wisdom. You learn through experience, and pain is the best teacher for you. Yet, your father is Zeus".

"Shut it while you're ahead, Loki" Athena growls.

"You lack in this area, admit it" Loki says.

"I said shut it!" Athena yells.

"Athena..." Loki says, "I get what you're feeling. I have a father, but for a long time in my life... I didn't have one. Odin took me in when I was a mere child. You think I don't understand that some people abandon their children? But you need to understand, those people aren't real men. They're not real fathers, and not all men will act the same. Some fathers will give everything they can just to make sure their child is going to be fine. As for us, well... we got dealt a bad hand".

"I know!" Athena responds. "I know... I get it, dammit. But I-".

"Athena" Thor says as he slowly walks towards them. "Perhaps it is vengeance that you seek, no? Maybe for what he did to you, or what he's made you go through. Perhaps even what he has done to those around you. Either way, you know that vengeance isn't the only way... perhaps this quest you were sent on was a test, and not for the humans... but for you".

"As for you" Loki says as he turns towards Siran, "we're here to help... we don't shoot help. Got it?".

"Bullshit" Siran says. "I can't trust any of you".

"What makes you say that, after all the trouble we've been through?" Loki asks.

"How can you say that when we don't even know your true nature?" Siran asks.

"Our true nature?" Loki asks. "Our true nature!? What about yours? You have no idea about most of the stuff about yourself, yet you demand that we show our bare hands to you!? You want to see true nature? I'll show you true nature!".

"Brother, what are you doing?" Thor asks.

"I'll be right back" Loki says. "This should be enough distance between me and the kid, for me to gain endo again". Loki steps back and teleports. When he reappears, he had in his hand someone from the town. Just a normal person, held by the collar of his shirt, begging and pleading to be released. Loki walks towards the Endo Stream that was by the coast behind the battlefield of which they had just fought on. With what little excess endo was left, Loki then opens a portal. The portal wasn't the same as the way they've been traveling. This was a Theist Gate, like what Siran had traveled through to meet Gaia. He walked in with the human still in his hands, and after a few moments, walked back out. When he came back, the human in his hands was dead, but he didn't have any wounds anywhere on his body.

"What did you do!?" Siran demands.

"Brother..." Thor says quietly.

"You see this?" Loki says as he drops the dead human. "This is what happens when normal humans enter Valhalla. Do you get it now!? Regular humans can't enter Valhalla! It's impossible! They're not supposed to enter, ever. The fact that Zia's been able to enter only confirms my suspicions that she's the one who's been reincarnated alongside you, over and over! Have you ever stopped to think that you've been working for the bad guys this whole time?". After a short pause, Loki continues to say "I guess it's not about good nor bad though. It's just yet another faction in this ridiculous war that I want no part of... that I keep being forced to take part in. You may be called Siran now, and you may be a normal human with human parents, but originally, you're name was Ishmael, and your mother is Gaia. Haven't you ever wondered why Gaia couldn't take care of Naris herself? Sure, Naris could feed off of gods and hold his own against the gods. Hell, he even becomes much stronger than us if we have multiple gods sent after Naris. He was a tool created to eat gods. But a primeval god? They could've taken care of him easily. She just couldn't stomach the thought of killing her own child, so she sent her other son to kill him. And to keep you under control and keep you from rebelling against the gods again, she keeps reincarnating your wife alongside you, breaking the natural order of life. All because she's scared... it's understandable, really. She's afraid that her son will hate her the same way you've always hated the other gods, and your only brother". Loki takes a deep sigh then says "You were a perfect candidate to kill Naris because not only did you equal him in power, but you also gave up your position as a god and your immortality for a shot at having your own family... because of that, Naris never could feed off of you, but you could still feed off of him... but now, you're just a human. Dying, being born and dying again, over and over. How long will your mother torture you and your wife like this, Ishmael?".

"Loki!" Thor yells.

"What!?" Loki replies. "I understand father wants us to work with Gaia... or what's left of her... but I just can't bring myself to do it! This is her's and Chronos's fault to begin with!".

"W-What do you mean... reincarnated by his side?" Zia asks.

Loki sighs, then says "You used to be something else entirely. You weren't human before either. Thousands of years ago, Siran used to be a God Slayer named Ishmael, and you used to be a low ranking goddess named Inari. But that time has long since passed, and the two of you exist on many planes all at the same time now. Sometimes, the two of you never meet. Hell, sometimes the two of you may even be enemies".

"Is that true?" Athena asks.

"I'm afraid it is" Meili replies.

"However, they're nothing more than humans now" Yngvi says.

"Whatever it may be" Siran says, "whatever the story, we're humans. A group of humans who don't need the likes of you anywhere near us. I still don't believe the crap story you've fed us so far, and I doubt anything will change that. That fact of the matter is, all of you shouldn't be here. Go back to Valhalla or whatever, we humans are busy".

"Tch" Athena says, "listen here, you little bastard".

"Athena, please..." Loki says. Loki sighs, then says "I guess if we can't work together". Loki then begins to walk away.

"Brother?" Thor asks.

"Where are you going?" Yngvi asks.

"Back to Valhalla" Loki says. "Father will be angry if we make enemies with the humans". The rest of the brothers look at each other, then they all vanish together.

"And you?" Siran asks as he looks at Athena. "Will you do us the grace of getting rid of yourself? I can assure you, your presence and assistance isn't needed".

"I do what I want" Athena says. "I don't take orders from mortals".

"Then are we going to have a problem?" Siran asks, his gun still in his hand.

"If you're going to be of no use to me" Athena says, "then I see no reason to stick around you. However, I'll still be stuck on Earth for a little while, doing my own work. Try not to get yourself killed, you distasteful human".

Athena then steps back and vanishes. After all of the gods had left, there was finally silence. "Can't believe what all is happening now" Finn finally says to break the silence. "I mean... gods fighting gods? That's nuts...".

"And the final horse crosses the finish line..." Alex says.

"None of my concern" Siran says as he begins to walk towards the helicopter Ali arrived on. "My main concern as of now is getting my son back home".

"Do you think there's any truth behind what they said?" Vivi whispers to Zia.

"No idea" Zia says. "Though, he has always somehow had this familiar face... I guess".

"Siran?" Vivi asks.

"Yeah" Zia replies. "Like I've known him for longer than I really have".

"As for the reincarnation?" Vivi asks.

"I don't believe in that" Zia says. "So, no I do not believe what they've said. However, it is strange...".

"What is?" Vivi asks.

"Why weren't Siran and I killed when we entered Valhalla together?" Zia asks. "Did Loki do something to that guy when he pulled him through the portal?".

"He is the god of trickery, to be fair" Vivi says. "That just very well may be the case".

"What is their true goal?..." Zia whispers to herself.

After making it back home with Silas, the crew took some time to rest. After a while, they began to discuss their next plan of action. Siran was working on writing his own story down in a book, as Benjie was still recording all of the documents into other books. "So, where to now?" Rose asks.

"Is there any country that we haven't pissed off at this point?" Alex asks.

"There are hundreds of countries" Ying says. "There's gotta be at least one we can go to, for help".

"I wouldn't be so sure" Holly says as she turns her laptop around to face the crew. "There's been a lot of talk about us between all of the leading military powers. All of the talks being negative towards us".

"That's just the big guys though" Rose says. "There's still other places... right?".

"I'm afraid not" Haru says. "Once the leading military powers, in terms of nations, agree to hate a single group of people... that's basically it for them. All the other countries are basically forced to follow in their footsteps".

"... shit!" Rose exclaims.

"What are they saying about us on the news?" Zia asks.

"Take a moment to listen" Holly says as she turns the volume of her computer up for everyone to hear.

On the computer, they could hear news stations broadcasting "The British Intelligence Agency has now listed The Six Guns as wanted targets. The price for each member go as high as twenty-five thousand dollars for each member, dead or alive. As to where the price on the leader of said group, Siran, is wanted dead or alive at the stunning price of fifty thousand dollars. Lately, the British Intelligence Agency, or MI6 for short has also been posting information about each individual known to be associated with the group, as well as the shocking recent development of a former Captain Haru Nakamura of the Japanese SAT forces within The Six Gun ranks. Representatives of the Japanese military spoke on the matter, as they declared her a traitor to the nation, and support the MI6's action behind the intent to capture the once famous outlaws. However, frequent stirring has been occurring in Japan, as civilians protest against the words spoken against The Six Guns by their elected government".

"That's it, guys!" Mikoto cheers. "Stick it to the man!".

"Shhh" Holly says. "Pay attention".

"The people of that nation claim The Six Guns are heroes, not criminals" the news broadcast continues. "However, China has come to the conclusion to support the MI6 full heartedly in their pursuit of The Six Guns. President Li Xiaobai, of The People's Republic of China spoke up about this, saying We plan to put forth full effort to catch these criminals. They are nothing more than a group of people who let playing hero go to their heads. Make no mistake, we will stop them from attempting to control the world".

"Wow... that's grim" Satomi says.

"So... we're criminals yet again?" Ying asks.

"I'm sorry..." Siran says. "They... those gods set us up, and I took the bait. I've failed yet again".

"That's not entirely true" Haru says. "People are still standing up for us, and fighting for what they believe is right, rather than just letting the government get away with saying anything they want. That's what your main goal was, isn't it?".

"Was?" Siran asks. "It still is my main goal! I thought we were done though, but... only Japan has been following in what we wanted people to do. Now every nation is after us. What are we going to do about the kids!?".

"Not every nation..." Blake says. "There's still one".

"There is?" Finn asks.

"Oh yeah, Siran's old home!" Rose says.

"Right! The United States!" Zia says. "I can't believe we forgot".

"Most of that place is uninhabitable" Siran says. "And the rest never got fully reconstructed. There isn't much there, and I doubt that'd give us any help at all".

"Still, it's all we have" Vivi says. "They were once a leading military power. Maybe they have something up their sleeve".

"Most of that something went into forming Omnia, to be fair" Holly says.

"But then again" Haru says, "that's probably what makes it perfect for going".

"Yeah, America and Vega are probably the only two places we can go to without being shot at now" Tanya says.

"Well, I'd rather avoid Vega for now" Siran says. "Apparently, that place is under new management". As siran finishes speaking, he turns to look at Don.

"Don't mind me, I'm just enjoying my retirement" Don says. "Nice place by the way, Vivi. Oh yeah, remember that time you guys almost shot me? Good times...".

"You're not holding a grudge for that, are you?" Tanya asks.

"What? No..." Don says in a sarcastic tone.

"Donny" Tanya says, "I'm sorry you got involved. I know you're in retirement and stuff now. But please don't go out of your way to attack my friends?".

"I'll make no promises" Don says, then takes a sip of whiskey out of the bottle. "But I can assure that I won't try to do anything I shouldn't".

"America it is then?" Zia asks.

"I guess so..." Siran says.
