Things have gone bad, really bad.
I thought he was strong at the start, but he's even more so than I thought. Worse than that, he's skillful, dexterous even. He knows what he's doing, and he's obviously has been training in both magic and swordsmanship for a long time.
Right now, I'm healing Togeshi. One of his spells hit him, and badly. Checking his health, he lost forty percent of it all.
Soothing Light is a good spell, yes, but it's more for minor wounds and such. For bigger injuries, it takes a lot longer. Luckily, Akane is currently fending him off, now with her Vernix Eagle summoned, but, strangely enough, he's just standing there.
That's fine with me, I don't care what he's doing as long as he's giving me more times to heal Togeshi.
What the-- no way, his mana just increased a ton. No, wait, it just tripled. What just happened? Did he activate some skill? There's no way just some skill could do that... was it that Fury skill he had?
Alright, let's just check his status to be sure...
Oh, all of his stats have increased, and not just by a little, either. Each one has increased three to fourfold. That's... incredibly concerning. His stats are now way past all of ours, maybe a bit more than some of ours combined.
This is bad, really bad. I doubt I even need to say that for you to understand how bad this really is. With his defence so high, I'm not sure if our attacks will even phase him.
In an instant, he practically appeared in front of Akane. She could barely react, but she dodged back, starting to cast a spell.
"Wind Magic: Wind Burst!" Enhanced by the Vernix Eagle, the spell made the air in front of her push everything close away with intense power. However... he managed to stay on his feet, stepping even closer but with slowed speed.
Wait, that's not good. He's way too close to Akane for comfort. However, I'm sure Akane will be fine.
... or not. A single right hook connects with Akane, knocking her a fair bit away. No, actually, extremely far away. Is... is she okay? That looked painful. I could barely even keep my eyes on him. This speed is above everything else. Right now, he seems much stronger than every opponent we've ever faced. His stats are in the two hundred, for god's sake.
Akane's barrier deactivated, leaving both me and Togeshi defenceless. Wait, that implies Akane is now unconscious... well, I hope she's okay, but I don't have time to worry about her. Right now, I need to focus on our enemy. Togeshi's major wounds are healed, he should be able to continue to fight.
We need a plan, right now. There's no way we can win by brute-forcing this. My mana is about only at its quarter maximum, and Togeshi is at about eighty percent of his max health.
Hm? Wait a minute, Blaine's health is draining at a rapid pace. Maybe three per every thirty seconds. Ah, I get it now, that's the risk he takes for gaining this massive power. So, what we need to do is stand our ground and wait for him to tire himself out. It's a plan that has its flaws, but there's nothing else I can think of to do.
"Can you stand?" I asked Togeshi, making sure he could even fight.
"Of course I can! I'm perfectly fine now! Hell, I could fight two of him at once! Maybe you should go help Akane?" He was as confident as ever, but confidence is key here, just is caution.
"I would, but I don't think he would give me the chance." This was my theory, at least. I doubt he would just let me go and heal Akane, and besides, I don't have enough mana. She'll be treated after this round by the healers here.
"Damn, you're right..." He cracked his knuckles, "Well, let's fight!"
Considering he hasn't attacked us yet, he must be getting cockier and cockier... wait, no, I was wrong. I was distracted by talking with Togeshi so I didn't notice it, but he's casting a huge spell. Damn it, this might be really bad, he's putting a ton of mana into that, and considering how high his intelligence stat must be right now, I can't even begin to imagine how strong that might be.
"Fire Magic: Great Exploding Fireball!" Well, he isn't the best at names, but that doesn't take away from the fact this is incredibly dangerous, that thing could easily kill both of us at the same time. Could we dodge? No, it could possibly be extremely quick, even more so than himself... Water magic? No, not that either. I'm sure his flames would easily turn my water into vapour. Then, what? Damn it, damn it... this is a problem.
"Now, die you insignificant bastards!" He had a maniacal like in his eyes, he really wanted to kill us, didn't he?
And such, he sent the spell at us.
No... something, strange happened. This happened before, didn't it? Instantly, his huge flame disintegrated into nothing as a terrifyingly large ball of water engulfed it. It was like it was never there. This is the same thing that happened in his last round when he was about to attack his opponent then, too...
"Attention! After further review, it has been seen that Blaine Skia has altered the battlefield by laying traps about it before the day of the tournament! As stated by the rules of which says one is not allowed to alter the arena in any way before the day of the tournament, Blaine is now disqualified! As such, Team Ohre is the victor of this round!" The announcer spoke within a frantic tone, obviously a bit nervous from the close call that was that last attack.
That means... we win? Really? That doesn't feel right, it's just like our last round... What am I thinking? If this fight didn't end now... I don't want to think about this. I should go help Akane.
