Chapter 64 - The Unknown in Truth -Chapter Y.11-

She's reached me. And, with that, she's about to attack me. How so? I can't actually tell, but she has her hands set in a way like she's holding a stick or something.

"Soul Magic: Reaper Style," She cast another Soul magic spell, a huge scythe appearing in her hands, "Hope you can dodge this! Haha!"

Oh, That's how... that's some versatile magic right there, but what does this spell do? Hm... I could get hit on purpose to find out, but that sounds like an overall terrible idea. So, let's just, not do that, and instead dodge.

I jump over the slice of the scythe just barely, and damn, she's really fast.

"Nice job! If that had hit you, your soul would have been sliced in two!"

Oh, I'm much more glad I decided to dodge that attack now. That's some scary magic right there, I didn't even know that was possible. Then again, that poses the question, what exactly is the soul? Who knows, really.

"Soul Magic: Dual Soul Scimitars Style!" Oh, great, she has more spells like that. The scythe disappears, and in her hands appear two scimitars, which she proceeds to use to try and hit me in mid-air. This... is bad. How can I dodge this when I'm literally in the air at the moment?

Oh, right, this isn't a one-on-one fight. Both Togeshi and Akane are here to back me up.

"Wind Magic: Spiral Arrow!" Akane cast one of her most commonly used spells, sending the spinning arrow of concentrated air at the target.

And, on the other side of the girl was Togeshi, less than seconds away from hitting her with his gauntlets.

She, however, realized her predicament and retreated from attacking me, ducking under both Togeshi And Akane's attacks. She moved back even more after that, and due to the fact Akane couldn't stop her magic in time, her former spell crashed into Togeshi. Luckily enough for him, his armour is sturdy enough to withstand that.

"Well, aren't you lucky? If they were just a tad bit slower, I'm not sure you'd be standing right now." Seriously, she's acting like she's trying to kill us or something... Oh great, and now she's casting another spell, 'Soul Magic: Soul Destroying Bow Style!"

In her hands, replacing the two scimitars, was a longbow, one she was currently using to send out several arrows that would probably have the same effect as the scythe and scimitars.

Well, now might not be the time, but I'd like to test something. Let's hope it works.

"Water Magic: Water Barrier." I finish casting the spell just in time, a sphere of water comes conjured around the three of us.

And let's see... oh, great, her arrows can't penetrate the barrier. Now, that's a huge weakness, and I can definitely exploit that. I assume, since the arrows are made from her mana, the mana of my own spell interrupts hers, causing it to disappear... however, right after, my own barrier disappears just as the arrows do. So, I guess since both of our spells are clashing with each other, the mana becomes disrupted, causing it to lose its form. Hm, but usually, a barrier-type spell would be able to withstand another spell at least more than once before disappearing... It seems her magic stats are much higher than my own, meaning most of my other spells won't actually disrupt the mana in her own spells enough to destroy them.

"Hey! What's up with you, anyways?! You could have killed Yuu there!" Togeshi spoke, obviously aggravated.

"Yep, but I didn't, so everything is fine!" Geez, she's definitely not completely okay in the head, let's try not to get on her bad side. Although, I might be on it already.

Oh, just wonderful, she's sending more arrows at us, "Focus on dodging the arrows for now." I told Togeshi.

"Right!" He responded, keeping concentrated on the arrows coming at us.

Okay, without Thought Acceleration, this would be kind of hard, but I should be fine because of it. In fact, I can both dodge the arrows and approach her at the same time with ease.

After not even five seconds, we reach her once again. However, she'll just move away from us once again, so to prevent that from happening...

"Water Magic: Water Prison," this spell is a similar one to Water Barrier, but modified as to make it nearly impossible for a designated person or people to escape. The only way to leave is to break it, or for me to make it disappear voluntarily. It's a spell that's situational, but can still be useful in its own way.

If she does try and break it, that only gives us a chance to attack her, so I doubt she will do anything of the sort.

"Oh... nice idea! You have some decent ideas when it comes to magic. However," In the blink of an eye, she appeared right in front of me, "I want to see that light magic you used before!"

Huh? Ignoring the compliment, she's just not going to attack me with any weapons or even spells. She doesn't seem to be the super physically strong type, so even though I can't dodge this where I am now, I should be mostly fine.

That, however, is not the case, as when her punch connected with me, I went flying back into my own spell.

Okay, ow. That was incredibly painful. Seriously, this world is so weird. She seems pretty thin under that cloak, but either because of skills or stats, she's physically stronger than me. I really have to stop underestimating people...

"What the--" Togeshi reacted just now, and while I speak as a long time has passed, not even half of a second has. Togeshi looked over at my body which was still hadn't fallen down to the floor and finally glared at our opponent. "How dare you!"

Togeshi closed the distance between them in an instance, taking the initiative and going for a swing to her head. She dodged it, easily, but that lead to another punch from Togeshi. Togeshi was at a higher level when it came to technical skill, but the girl was still physically stronger even with the size difference, she was faster, too. With that all in mind, they fought at an even level, but it was a losing battle for Togeshi.

Back when were still on earth, Togeshi was a boxer; he was talented too. He had boxed since I had met him, and he wasn't lacking when it came to practice. He had participated in a couple amateur tournaments, and he always came out on top during them. Fighting had always been his passion, huh?

I don't have time for that... I want to go help him, but I can't right now. That punch she threw out really did a number on me. Before I can rejoin the fight, I need to heal myself...

No, I can't do that. There's something else I have to do first. There's one way to win this, and that's by sticking to the strategy I came up with.

First, I deactivate the Water Trap spell, it'll get in the way of this. The spell disappearing distracted her ever so little, allowing for Togeshi to just barely hit her. It didn't do much, but it stunned her a tiny bit.

"Hey, what'd you do that for?" While she was still fighting on even terms, she looked over to me to ask me that. Good, she's confident, that's exactly what we need.

"Light Magic: Scintillating Light," I cast the spell as fast as I could, blinding light appearing from nowhere.

This spell acts to do two things, blind her for a short time, and make it impossible for mana sense to be used. I learned this little trick from a certain leader of an Adventuring party. It might not last as long, but it's pretty much impossible to get rid of. After all, she said she wanted to see my light magic, didn't she?

Why am I doing this? Well, if you hadn't noticed, I haven't brought up Akane much, have I? At the beginning of the battle, I activated a spell on Akane, one that causes light to act in a certain way as to make light impossible to bounce back into the eye of everybody, essentially making her invisible. However, since mana sense can still sense her, she has to be out of the range of the skill, meaning she was pretty far away from all of us.

At this very moment, she's behind our opponent, charging up her strongest wind magic spell, utilizing her spirit, the Vernix Eagle.

"Wind Magic: Ruthless Tornado!" Akane quickly finished her chant, appearing in front of her what one could only describe as a tornado, of which I could only presume slammed into the girl we were fighting. Togeshi, remembering the plan, jumped out of the way just in time.

That's it, she's definitely at least hurt to the point she can't fight anymore now. That spell alone exhausted almost all of Akane's mana, there's no way she could be fine after that.

My light magic soon disappears, showing the result of the spell.

"Phew, that sure was a close one!" And there she was, not a scratch on her, far away from the site of the spell.
