A week later...
In the forest near Xuanping City, a young man with a rock in his palm was staring fixedly at a tree. He lifted the rock to slightly below his face and started murmuring something. Suddenly, shards started separating of the rock in his palm, all of them glowing in a white aura. The rock lasted only some seconds before being completely turned into shards, fifteen shards of the rock were floating in front of the young man.
He pointed his open palm to the tree, wich caused all the shards to go in its direction with a speed comparable to arrows. All of the fifteen shards passed trough the tree, each leaving a hole behind. The young man sighed in relief and smiled seeing that scene.
Adam was relieved seeing that his meditation and spell training paid off. He spent the whole week meditating in the forest and training Rock Shard, he lost count of the amount of times he repeated the chant, it was enough to have dreams about it.
"Congratulations brat, you now officially a low rank Apprentice Magician." What Asutrix said was a surprise to Adam.
"Wait, don't you said I could be considered a low ranked magician when I learned Rock Shard?" Adam was confused.
"I said you "could" be considered one, not that you were one. You barely knew how to cast the spell at the time and your mana capacity was very low, you were not a average person, but still far from being a Apprentice Mage." Asutrix explained his reasons.
"So I am now proficient in the spell?" Adam was already tired of praticing the same spell over and over again.
"No, you re not." Asutrix words surprised Adam.
"But I alredy know everything I need to know about it, And can even cast perfectly." Adam was still unconvinced.
"Do you know what the requirement to be proficient in a spell is?" Asutrix did not show any agitation.
"What is the requirement?"
"Being able to cast the spell with minimal casting time. A expample would be someone casting fireball just by shouting "Fireball!" or even better, just by waving his hands. You still need to say the whole chant." Adam finally got the reason.
"But you don't to be worried about using spell without chants right now, after all you only know one spell right now. It's time for you to do two things." Said Asutrix.
"Two thing? What are you talking about?"
"First, you need to learn a new spell, Earth Wall. It's easir to learn than Rock Shard so don't worry. Second, you need find something to earn money. These gold coins will last for five months, after that, you will need to rely on yourself to make a living." Asutrix reminded Adam of something he was ignoring for some time.
"A way to earn money..." Adam don't had any idea of what he should do. He needed to find a job that don't got in the way of his training.
"Do you know of a way to earn money Asutrix." Asked Adam, who don't had any idea.
"Considering what you can do right now, the best way is hunting." Said Asutrix.
"Wait, hunting? No,no,no, can we do any other thing?" Adam was somewhat scared.
"This is the best way brat, after you learn Earth Wall, you will already be strong enough to hunt beasts, and the fighting experience will be useful in the future." Asutrix don't tought anything of hunting.
Adam was still a high school boy, the thought of fighting dangerous beasts excited him a bit but it was not enough to make him go and actually do it.
'I need to find a normal job....' Adam was determined to not go hunt.
