Chapter 1 - Prologue

A mother cat named Daisy looked down at her newly born kittens " I promise to look after you all with my life..." She whispered to them. Then she looked to the sky as the rain drops pitter-patter on the cardboard box that she lay in.

There were three kittens. Two males and one female. She looked at the the smallest male. He looked just like his mother. He was grey with darker grey striped patterns, his emerald green eyes matched her own. Emerald she thought of a name as she looked into his innocent eyes as he sniffed for milk. She turned to the bigger male. He was grey with black stripes. He had a strange brownish color to him though. He had a dot of black on his pink nose, a bit of faded ginger on his face and he had hazel-Almost brown eyes. He pushed the others out of the way so he could snuggle up to his mother. Throne she thought. The name seemed fitting as he looked like a little king. Then she looked at the last one. A female who was almost white, a pale grey like the moon, with faded black tabby patterns , long fur and eyes that were like hazel, but the green in it was so pretty, almost like a leaf-green. She moved Throne out of the way to make room for Emerald. Daisy could tell she would always look out for them. Shade Daisy thought.

Daisy looked up at the sky as the storm went on. Something inside her was worried for these kittens. Even though here in the city they were safe from the danger that threatened her and mate. Her heart bled from the loss of her dear mate, but she knew his sacrifice was for the kittens survival. And now Daisy couldn't let anything happen to them. But they were safe. Here. With her. . . They couldn't touch her. Though something in her gut was still worried. . .

A strike of lightning lit the sky and Emerald bolted to hide beneath Daisy. Shade jumped and covered Emerald protectively, while Throne walked dangerously close to the exit of the cardboard box and he hissed at the lightning, his tail was thrashing and his chest was out. Daisy brought him back close to her with her paw.

The rain and dreary weather lasted three weeks...They stayed in the cardboard box the whole time. While Daisy told the kittens many stories, to get their minds off of the weather, and also to educate them about the world. Even if most of the stories where fictional, they had great meaning. . . She told them about Tales of the forests. She told them stories of the wild. Of cats. . .And of wolves. The good and the bad. In small ways, she will prepare them, from now for forever. . .

The wind became violent and loud, till all three kittens curled under Daisy. The box flew from on top of them and the kittens squealed "M-mother" Emerald said " What's h-happening?" He asked " Stay close to mother-cat! Everything will be okay!" Daisy called from over the wind " Stay close to me! We must find shelter!" She said. Daisy picked up Emerald from the scruff and beckoned the other two to follow her. She ran against the wind as things flew around. Daisies short fur blew around in the wind. Trees began to be pulled out of the roots " It's a hurricane!" Daisy meowed. Daisy tried her best to guide her kittens to shelter. The wind was too strong. Daisy couldn't walk against it and her kittens slid back as if they soon would fly away. Daisy held all three kittens close to her. The kittens whined and squealed. " Kittens. Its okay. Don't be afraid. I'm here. And I won't let anything hurt youse" Daisy said, trying her best to comfort the kittens. Though her herself was afraid. This wasn't a normal storm. The faint whistling. That howl that came from the tornado that formed. The way the wind was attacking her. She heard tales. That when needed most. . . He can summon an army of dogs, who's howl can control the wind. And an army of elephants who's stomps control the earth. And the whales who's howls control the sea. . .He may not be able to attack me here. But he does have allies. This is the safest place for my kittens. But it's still not safe. . . A blast of wind suddenly came flying towards them, a strange unnatural whistling sound came from it. It hit a tree which fell towards them, but they couldn't move, for the wind would keep them back. Daisy stood up on top of her kittens " Remember my kittens. Mother cat is always here. I'm going to protect youse!" Daisy said. She knew the dangers they would face without her. But they'll be okay. As long as they stay in the city. She knew that He would not be able send anything else in a long time. He is already weak. And after this. This was his last bit of strength. The kittens will be safe now. You lost. . . she thought as she shut her eyes tight. The tree fell on top of her. With her last thoughts she tucked her legs in so she wouldn't squash her kittens too badly...She knew the kittens would be protected under her body until its over. . .

The wind finally stopped. Leaving the kittens alone... But Daisy done her what she could to protect them. And she will always watch over them. . .

Through all the dangers they may have to face one day. . .
