Two millenniums ago, a powerful Maja whose name and origin was lost in time entered a mysterious ancient ruin that was said to have housed a group of devil worshippers and activated an array found there.
Legends say that the person had a very dark and tormenting past and suffered a kind of pain that filled his heart and mind of only one thought, to make all humans suffer extreme torture and pain before wiping out all of humanity from existence.
Some said he was betrayed by a loved one, a few suggested that he probably witnessed something that left him scarred for life, while others theorized that he faced torture akin to what the titan Prometheus faced.
No one could prove that their theory was right, all everyone knows is that whatever it was, the experience led that man to spend the rest of his life searching for a way to accomplish his goal.
That search led him to discover a strange cult that had the same objective as him but was annihilated by a strange force that left no traces in the records of history known to the public.
Despite the fate of the cult, the man was frightened not for he believed that they must have discovered something that could help them achieve their goal and if he could find out what it was and take control of it, then he could turn their dream into reality.
The Maja tirelessly searched for the ruins of the previous place that was home to this cult and after years of searching, his search bore fruit.
He discovered that the cult worshipped an evil of ancient times that caused mass destruction and massacre wherever it went.
The evil-worshippers were about to revive and call upon that ancient evil when the mysterious force appeared and annihilated them.
Many other Majas tried to stop him but none succeeded. It was said that he was able to reach the apex of his majique, allowing him to achieve immortality and gain might that none could match.
That Maja sacrificed his very existence in that ruins to activate the array.
The array then started consuming him, leaving nothing but a mass of pure negative energy merging together into a solid form. The form it took was the body of the entity whose mere name brought and will still bring nightmares to whoever hears it. The body of the devil, Absalon returned to the human world.
He summoned forth his demons from the ancient abyss that day to bring destruction to the world. Out of the gateways he formed, the terrifying Fogru Tekra army came out being led by the Unholy Eight, demons loyal only to Absalon.
The Fogru Tekra army was nearly unstoppable as they had armor that deflects all firearms and demonic priests that could cast shields that can protect them from even tactical nukes. Only a Maja could stand a chance against even their most common soldier.
Together with his army and loyal followers, Absalon caused mass destruction and killed billions of people throughout that decade. They did not care if you were man or woman, rich or poor, young or old, beauty or ugly, none were spared from their brutal massacres.
The human race had lost at least 50% of its population before the prayers of the people who had nearly lost all hope were finally answered.
A diety from above came down to bring salvation to humanity. It was an entity in human form that possesses neutral charms. That holy being was Archangel Miragaursarare, an immortal existence from the Ancient Garden.
The Archangel helped humanity by awakening something inside humanity believed by most to only be a thing of legends, Majique. With humanity gaining this power, the Majas who have hidden among the common folk revealed themselves and helped those who had newly awakened. Together, they began to fight back against their oppressors.
Miragaursare led humanity in the fight and caused massive damage to the army of darkness. After five whole years of continuous war, the mighty army was reduced to their last surviving hundreds or so, three of the Unholy Eight died while those who remained sustained numerous injuries, and Absalon himself had suffered near fatal damage to his physical form.
Absalon was absolutely furious by the turn of events and used his trump card, the legendary Shaman Soul, Pandora's Box. Once Absalon's ace majique was used, countless deadly disasters were released from the box and the most disastrous of them all was the Collision Event.
During the Collision Event, the tectonic plates moved towards each other with great speed making the various continents and islands all over the world collide. The collision caused continents to break into separate islands while other parts overlapped each other, the sudden gaps caused lava to rise from the mantle and new landmasses of varying sizes to emerge, simultaneously raising tidal waves.
The destruction and deaths forced the Archangel to use his ace majique as well, the legendary Sage Spirit, Heaven's Blessings. The majique raised the dead, both plants and animals of both past and present throughout history. Due to the insufficient energy used on it, only about 3 billion lives of all species in total were revived.
The aftermath had greatly weakened both sides. Absalon then used another legendary majique, The Seed of Doubt, before he and his army retreated back to the Ancient Abyss. The seed was planted on the river of time itself. Every single living being in the realm currently alive and those who will be born had and would have the seed planted on each and every one of them. Those who allow the seed to release its dark energy inside them would gain a significant boost in their power in exchange for being greatly influenced by the corruption. Plants and most animals having little to no resistance to the seed were corrupted and underwent changes becoming known as corrupted beasts or corrupted plants.
Miragaursarare had nearly depleted all of its power and therefore left a sapling for humanity before reascending back to the Ancient Garden. The sapling matured and became known as the Tree of Origin, bearing fruits that can help people awaken their majique/s.
The Decade of Darkness ended but humanity had already been reduced to only 10% of their original population. From the original 10.9 billion humans, only slightly more than a billion remained.

In the year 2100 of the Novus Calendar, at present, humanity had recovered, replenishing their population and rebuilding their civilizations. Old countries were rebuilt while new countries rose. As the human race recovered now stronger than before, corrupted humans started appearing and causing trouble in the new world. Along with this, a prophecy came to be;
"Darkness shall descend upon this world once more. The army will return, and the corrupted will assist them. The light would be in grave danger, but Genghis Nobunaga; The Undying, The Traveler, The Uncatchable, The Lifegiver, The Inheritor, and The Unstoppable, will come and save humanity... on the Second Era of Darkness. On the final battle between good and evil."
