3rd Person POV
Carla's nightmares had continued for days, and she just assumed it was just her fears coming out to play. She was being attacked, and not in normal manners. You see, Carla had been attacked physically and mentally by demons but this was no demon she was up against this time. Someone was purposely altering her dreams, her visions, her mindset. Someone was afraid of what she'd turn into, what she would create, and who she would become.
The lack of sleep was making her irritable, which created problems in her relationships with her friends. She snapped more often and Carter worried for his friend. He knew something was wrong with Carla. Days went by and he felt more and more helpless when it came to his friend's problem. She confided in him with some of her struggles and though she prayed most of them away, the nightmares didn't stop.
She didnt tell him about the nightmares. The nightmares of all her friends dying infront of her. The nightmares of her losing herself in being leader. The nightmares of her being alone because everyone else has been massacred because of a mistake.
She awoke from her nightmares as if someone had thrown icewater on her while she slept.
It was terrible and she was miserable.
The issue with Carla being in such a despair was Carter not being able to help. He longed for her to be happy again. All she could talk about is how much she wanted to sleep, and it pained him to see her in such a miserable state.
He fell with her.
Carla started to sleep on the couch with Eclipse, as he wasn't allowed upstairs and she was seeking comfort. Carter would walk downstairs while Carla was sleeping and Eclipse would maneuver himself so Carter could actually see Carla. Carter wanted to see if she was sleeping well. The huge wolf hybrid would easily cover all of Carla's five foot self in his fur. He was easily one hundred and eighty pounds compared to Carla's ninety-five. Long story short, it didnt take much for Eclipse to protect all of Carla with himself. And he did so to the point he scared everyone who came down those steps.
Everyone but Carter.
Eclipse hated Carter to say the least until Carla started to sleep downstairs. The smart wolf hybrid more than likely picked up on the fact Carla hadn't been sleeping and was suffering from atrocious nightmares. The night that Carter first came downstairs was the only day that Carter feared Eclipse. The large wolf mix outweighed everyone in the house and could easily maul someone if they got too close to Carla. Once Eclipse moved on that first day so that Carter could check on Carla, Carter never had problems with Eclipse again.
Carla had no idea that was a nightly routine with the two of them while she slept. Carter worried she would be creeped out at her friend making sure she was sleeping well and just decided not to tell her at all. Carter walked down every night, checked to make sure Carla was okay, prayed for her to have a good night's rest, and then went back upstairs. The routine took ten minutes and was usually a silent exchange between the wolf and the teen.
Eclipse would lay along Carla's body length and stand watch all night every night. He would viciously growl at anyone who came yoo close to her.
Ryder, the only one who got bitten, was the only one who truly needed to fear the wolf mix. On the third night, Ryder came down stairs, to nobody's knowledge of what his intentions were, he walked to close to Carla. Too close being three feet away. Ryder, carrying a glass of some blue liquid, was viciously attacked. Eclipse had grabbed ahold of Ryder's arm and had almost ripped it off. Carla woke up to Ryder's screams and quickly called the wolf off, anyonger and he would've had a robot arm.
It's been a week since the incident and Eclipse still never lets Ryder near Carla, even when she's awake. And still, nobody knows what was in the broken glass that shattered on the floor.
