Chereads / You Don't Simply Kill a Demon / Chapter 48 - He Returns

Chapter 48 - He Returns

Two years later, Esral sat alone at the table in her home. She lived in a small town of Yoinkos, the town that neighbored the former sanctuary. She had hung up her blade and now helped around the town, she lived off of charity and tried to do her best to forget about what had happened several years before but couldn't. Every time she saw both swords on the wall, it made her flash back to the day she lost everything she knew and loved in this world. She hadn't had the strength to kill herself once she killed Hugo, she decided never to do so. She leaned her head down on the table, waiting for the days to go by. But suddenly a knock came to the door. Who could want to see me? She got up and walked to the door, she opened it. She fell face to face with a complete stranger.

"Can you help a wanderer?"

"Sure, come on in, I think I have something to give you," She said, "Sit down, sit down, you look tired."

"Do you know a certain Esral?"

"I am Esral," She said as she gave him a glass of water and some bread, "Why?"

"I found you," He said looking up at her, "I finally found you."

She moved away from him. Fear shot through her body, she backed up to the wall and grabbed her blade from the wall. She pulled it from its sheath and held it pointing at his neck level as he walked towards her.

"S-stay back!"

"Let me correct myself," He said placing his fingers on the spine of the blade, "I finally found you, my demacian queen."

She looked at him. She lowered her sword and thought about what he said. My demacian queen? Hugo? Hugo! She threw her blade to the floor and threw herself into his arms. She was crying.

"How are you here? I killed you with my own hands, how?"

"Let me sit down, I walked around for a year looking for you."

"So, tell me," She said as she sat down.

"The only reason that I was corrupted by the demon king was because of Jarvan the Third, the god of evil's mistake and his want to cover it up, he put the soul in my body, well, former body," He took a drink, "So when you killed me, the creator promised me a favor, I watched over you for a year, until the creator told me that he was going to destroy this realm to remake it."

"But then why are you here?"

"I came to come get you, to bring you out of this realm."

"What do you mean?"

"Join me, at the creator's side," He said as he bit into the bread, "I will be leaving in a few days, if you want to join me of course, we will be going."

"Wait, slow down, what do you mean by join you?" She said getting up to clear the table, "Can you explain?"

"Let's put it simple," He said moving near her and pinning her to the wall, "Will you be my goddess? At my side, now and forever?"

"You want me to go with you? Isn't there someone else more important than me? I haven't known you much," She stammered as he moved closer to her, "Are you sure?"

"I think that my choice is clear, I am sure about this, it all depends on you now."

"Oh, um, well, I guess, I accept."

"Don't be nervous, if you don't want to, I am not forcing my hand on you, I am just showing you what I would want."

"Well, in that case," She pulled him towards her and they kissed each other passionately.
