"Congratulations to your graduation!"
Our teacher said to us with a proud smile.
"Looks like all of you are aspiring to be wizards right?"
"YEAH!"
The whole class shouted. Some are letting their magic out, some spewing fire, electricity and even rocks everywhere that I think it might destroy this place down.
Honestly, they are such dorks. I might not look like it but I am the most excited of them all. Being a wizard has always been my dream and to be able to join one of the Guilds is something I have always aspired to be.
After middle school, we cam either apply for a normal high school or to a magic school where we are trained to be wizards. There is an annual screenings for 15 year olds amd above who wants to become a licensed wizard. It is different every year and the 3 Guild Masters will be there to search and assess each participant of they are worthy to be in their guild.
Guilds were established to maintain order. Missions were given for wizards by others to accomplish them. This is the way many people make money. There are 3 main Guilds.
Silverthorn Guild. It is considered the best out of the 3 Guilds. The Guildmaster is called the "Heaven's Sword" Payton Moonglade. They mostly focus on capturing bandits, those lawbreakers.
Ivorygarde Guild. It is nicknamed the 'friendliest' since they take the most recruits every year hence they are also the biggest. The Guildmaster is Yvette Sisk the "Flamebringer". They mostly focus on eradicating monsters and gathering materials.
Grayshroud Guild. You could say it is the lesser one as they are quite laid back, from the rumors I heard. They don't focus on one thing, they do just whatever is on. The two guilds stated above are always competing with each other while this Guild doesn't meddle with this kind of affairs. Ludwig Riverbane, also called the "Ancient's Sentinel" is the Guildmaster.
And I attempt to go to a prestigious magic school after this since it has more advanced tools that can help me. It is quite expensive though. Over 100,000 Zér so I was thinking of getting a scholarship.
Oh! I've been rambling around and haven't even introduced myself. I am Saphira Modrihel, 12 years old, future great wizard.
Ehem. So I was saying, today is graduation day and is also the day where we will be tested for our magic. It is testing how much mana we can store in our body.
"A Wizard from the Council is here with us for your Magic Test. This is what you've all been waiting for!"
The class roared in excitement. Some students are alreayd betting with each other on who will be the higher than the other.
"Wanna make a bet? I bet mine's higher than yours!"
" Don't get high hopes! You might be the lowest here!"
A blonde haired boy stood up and quickly gained the looks of others.
"Oh please! It is obviously that I am the highest!"
He said with a proud smile. He is Augustus Stormbringer, one of the strongest in her class. He is always with her lackeys looking for a fight in the school and even other schools. He also bullies Saphora a lot even during their Kindergarten days.
"I mean, I can guarantee that I'm higher than this punk" He said with his forefinger directed at me.
Saphira is already used to his bullying and just ignored his remark. If she replied then he will never stop pestering her the whole day.
" Hey! You deaf or what?!"
Augustus has a lot of hate. He hates those who are weak and those who are stronger than him. He wants to be at the top.But the one thing that Augustus hates the most is being ignored. He really doesn't like that.
"I said that I will be higher than you!" He shouted with anger the her. Saphira thought even before that he might have anger issues. But one time she said that to him amd he became more angry and the bullying worsened.
"There's no need to repeat yourself. I ignored you just fine the first time" Unable to control her mouth she replied with disdain.
I see his face turning red. His fists preparing to punch me. Yes, he will definitely punch a girl. He has done that many times to me ever since.
He wasn't like this before though. We were bestfriends actually but one day he just ignored me and was always with his lackeys. I don't know what happened to him. He is the one that has a lot of pride and I think hanging out with me made him look 'less masculine'.
"Settle down class! The Council is here!"
With the teacher's remark, the class quieted down.
Out teacher introduced us to a middle aged man wearing the Council cloak. White fabric with gold engravings that is unique that can be identified that this man is part of the Council.
The Council are the ones makes and distributes the spellsbooks to numerous schools and institutions, the laws, and also manages all the Magic schools. They are quite mysterious and only few are known about them.
The Council Wizard brings in an orb. That's probably the tester. I wonder what I will get. My legs underneath my desk are trembling in excitement and anxiety.
To be tested is actually very expensive for commoners. These type of orbs are hard to come so the Council go to each school in the region for students to be tested. This is just for one time only though if ypu want to be tested again you need to pay a fee. Mana capacity, overtime, can grow larger through training so even if I got low capacity I can still train my self for it to grow.
"Let's start with the boys then the girls in alphabetical order." Our teacher stated to the class.
Moments later and it is Augustus' turn.
He sticks his hand on the orb. The orb draws out mana into his body to know his mana capacity. Moments later a number can be read inside the orb.
899.
The whole class gasped in shock. That was pretty high number, the average mana capacity is around only 400-600.
He is currently the highest in the class right now. 899 is such a high amount. Lucky him. Knowing him, he will probably boast in 3, 2, 1.
"Look at this number punks! Beat that!" He shouted behind him. His head will become a lot bigger after this. I want to leave this plave soon and hope to never share a classroom with him again.
Before returning to his seat he gives me a teasing smirk.
Hmmph! I'll show you! Let's just hope mine's atleast close to his or else I'll be goner. He will never let this down if I got so low. Everytime he see me he will always remind me of this. I just hope I won't run into him in the future.
I mean I do a lot of magic now. I have compatibity with wind and lightning magic. And I do spells just fine. Maybe it wouldn't be that bad right?
Couple of moments later and it is finally my turn.
"Good luck punk!" Augusts said to me with a smirk while he punched me in the shoulder. I replied by sticking my tongue out to him. Hmmph!
I put my hand on the orb. My heart is pounding so fast.
What if I got below 500? I mean 500 is great but I have high standards okay? Also, that wretched boy will continue to bully me. If I got higher than his(which is highly unlikely), then he might stop pestering me.
The orb glowed and then a number appeared.
950.
Saphira's eyes widened and her mouth was wide open in shock. It took a while to sink in but she finally made a smile. She was happy that had a high mana capacity. With this she has more chance of getting that scholarship.
"Wow. That's quite high young one." The Wizard spoke to me in a deep voice.
The man was mysterious. Saphira can't see his face at her face and even up close, his face is still blurry. A spell was probably casted, Saphira thought in her mind.
"Thank you sir." I replied and then returned to my seat.
"That's amazing Saph!"
The whole class gave Saphira praises. She was the top of her class. She was the studious type and she also helped a lot of her classmates so they respected her. Really, Augustus and his group were the only one who hated and bullied her. Her classmates tried to help her one time but they were no match do Saphira just said to them that she was fine with his bullying.
And then the day was over. I hurriedly go home to the orphanage. And yes, I am an orphan. It is a great home. I considered the other orphans my siblings now. We have a nanny that is our mom. She is not our real mom but she acts like one.
The orphanage was large since it is owned by the Council. They provided us with food and shelter and also with our studies. It was home.
So the day is over and tomorrow is the start of my journey toward my dream.
