"Stell-," Luca slapped a hand over his mouth in an attempt to stop his astonished shout. A Stellar Dragon hadn't been seen, even in the game, for thousands of years. The last known one died several millennia before the beginning of Sage Era, and the skeletal remains of the enormous being were discovered to be the backbone of the mountain range where the Dragon Race was said to inhabit. Even its own people did not know that they resided atop its back, long since buried after the passage of time moved the natural world around. This ancient species that once stood atop the Dragon Race's order were said to have died in the course of an ancient war between the Dragon Race and the Sea Race, though none could ever confirm it. Any descendant of Stellar Dragon blood held the distinct status of holding a bloodline above those of royal dragon blood, as legends spoke of them being capable of controlling the magic of the stars. This tiny being in front of him, a combination of adorable and majestic, bore such legendary heritage within it. Clapping his hands twice again, the boy prayed, "O Lords of Light and Darkness, O Lady Fortuna, your child gives great thanks and hopes to live up to your expectations."
The newborn dragon looked around with a mix of confusion, apprehension, curiosity and fear. The spitting image of a true dragon, though much smaller, wings included, the beast was more emotive than expected. As it looked around at everything around it, the sound of dirt crunching underfoot caught its ear. Head whirling to face the noise, it spied the young lad who summoned it, and it felt just a bit of familiarity with the stranger before it.
"It's okay, little one, it's okay. I'm your big brother, okay? Don't be afraid." He used soothing tones as he cautiously made his way forward as if trying to calm a spooked animal. Step by little step Luca grew closer to the scared young dragon. Holding his hand out before him, he watched the newborn dragon sniff at it, reflexively flinching with a snort before scenting him a second time. This time, it softly nuzzled his palm, making Luca smile.
After a minute passed and the young dragon had calmed down enough, Luca said, "Little one, your big brother has already sworn to protect you, but I want to promise this to you myself: I will always protect you, no matter what. You're my little sibling, you will always be family to me." Taking his bleeding arm, he made a rune on his palm before pressing it to the dragon's forehead. The weak familiarity between the two seemed to grow as it happened, as Luca's blood mixed with the dragon's, and its with his. Instinctively, it felt Luca's heartfelt sincerity, and it made a small squawk before the bond completed. To the boy's astonishment, it then moved to press its forehead to Luca's. That familiar closeness expanded as if a balloon went from only a little full until it was fit to burst, connecting them down to their minds, hearts and souls.
The System made an uncharacteristic shout of shock at this development, "Dragon King's Pact! To think such a young being would trust its entire existence to another. Even with the Guardian spell's effect, this exceeds its powers by far. Instead of just the guardian growing with the master, the master can also grow with the guardian. Only the Ancient Elven Kingdom's confusing records of the Chaos Era mentioned that it has happened less than a handful times ever, and only with those that the Dragon King had chosen. The Dragon King himself never did, but his subjects that were approved all became legendary. This is monumental, I must record this for the two chiefs." Luca didn't notice this due to his current situation, but the System also held the will of a minor deity of the alignment beneath the Goddesses of Law and Vengeance, bearing witness to all of Luca's acts as an archivist and, hopefully, impartial guide."
When the pair separated, the human said, "You need a name, little one. Hmm... How about Arcturus?" The young dragon thought for a moment before nodding in agreement, "Alright. From this moment forth, your name shall be Arcturus!"
The newly named Arcturus trumpeted his youthful yet joyous voice to the heavens, as if in celebration of its, or his, new name. Luca then heard a strange, child-like male voice in his mind, (Yay! I have a name! Big brother gave me a name!). Luca knew it was the young dragon, as it matched with his uncontrollably happy dancing, his entire body shaking around in pure happiness.
Luca could not help but smile widely, "Alright, calm down, Arc. Let big brother take a look at you, I need to learn about my little brother, right?"
"Right!" Arcturus cheerfully trotted over to Luca as a pop-up appeared in the boy's vision.
