While we were waiting for the woman adventurer to wake up, I decided to check out my new ability.

After we made sure she was human, we decided to make this place our fall back point.

We dug out the crevice until it was a shallow cave that was easily defended, and pitched our tents.

After we finished, Jurea told Eric to give me the mana heart of the wasp.

And not wanting a repeat of the spider heart, I accepted.

I also noticed after everything calmed down, and I got a good... ahem... look at her, the female adventurer was the same woman who saw me while we were practicing in the woods a couple of months back.

I wonder if she remembers me?

< Why? So, she can runaway in terror

again?>

Shut up Patty.

Misunderstandings aside, I'm delightful.

"Ugh... where am I? And what am I wearing?!"

After we - they - destroyed her clothes, I made more with my webs and crafting stat.

If I do say so myself, it is a lovely dress.

< It is an ugly excuse for a dress, I don't think even the undead would be caught dead in that. >

Shut up Patty.

"You are in the dungeon, You were saved by my tame and we searched you. You don't have a problem with that, do you?"

Jurea's grip on her hammer tightened as she said that.

"No, if I were in your position, I would've done the same. And are all of you from Saltwater?"

"Yes, why?"

"Because I think I ran into your tame in the woods a month or so back."

I gave Flora a 'I told you so' look, and she flipped me off.

"Why are you here alone?"

That is suspicious, even Jurea when she was adventuring alone never went this deep.

"I wasn't originally. I hired some veteran adventurers to take me dungeon hopping."

"Dungeon hopping? What's that?"

(Eric)

"It's when you pay someone to take you past the first set(s) of the dungeon. Do you remember when I cut my hand on that portal? That allows me to take anyone else with me to that position."

"Why didn't we just do that then? Instead of fighting the ogre?"

Flora held up three fingers, and pulled a finger down every time she listed a reason.

"They charge obscene amounts of gold, you don't know who those people are so they could be bandits, and finally they could claim they found the treasure you found and keep it - of course they'd have to kill you first."

"Oh."

"Yeah, oh."

"Unfortunately that is eerily similar to my own tale. I hired two adventurers to take me down to the second set to get magic herbs that grow in the third set to sell."

"Why didn't you just pay for someone to take you to the third set?"

"They charged too much, I thought I was getting a deal by paying those guys half the price of the others and just letting them guide me to the third set. I was a fool, they betrayed me. They robbed me, then slashed my leg so that the monsters would finish me off."

"Sounds like you were an idiot."

Flora sure doesn't hold back any punches.

"Unfortunately yes, I was. But I'm hoping to make up for that by hiring all of you to guide me down the rest of the way."

"Back to being stupid, huh? You just told us they robbed you, so unless you're going to give me... err... us that big old ruby hanging on your neck, you got nothing to pay us with."

"You're right I got robbed, but before I entered the crevice I heard my wannabe robbers screaming in terror. I'm guessing they ran into that monster before it got to me.

I'm betting that if we look, we'll find their corpses, and on those corpses is something that'll make it worth your while."

She obviously started speaking Flora's language.

"Hey, doggy, you're good at sniffing for dead bodies right?"

She said pointing at Eric.

"Just about as good at it as you are at being ugly."

"Why yo..."

Jurea raised her hand in front of both of their faces, cutting them off.

"Eric please try to find the bodies, and Flora stop being an ass."

I know Flora would've loved to talk back, but Eric actually started tracking and Flora's greed out does everything else.

_______________________________

"Found them."

It didn't take too long to find them, or should I say what used to be them.

The wasp had ripped them apart and started to eat them.

In an area of twenty square feet intestines, half eaten livers, eye paste, and other viscera where scattered about.

The wasp was obviously in a rush to find more prey, it must've smelled the blood from Lyra.

Lyra is the name the adventurer gave us when we asked for her name.

"Here!"

Lyra picked up a ring.

"A capacity ring! That is worth my time."

Flora grabbed for it, but Lyra pulled it away.

"Not the ring, this."

Lyra pulled a scroll from inside the ring.

"OH MY FUCKING GODS! IS THAT A SPELL SCROLL!"

"What's that?"

(Me)

"It talks?"

"Yes I do, now what's so special about that scroll?"

"It teaches you a new spell!"

Flora answered me as she snatched the scroll.

"Only if you're capable though, you can still sell it for a reasonable price."

(Lyra)

"Oh, I'll learn it alright, and consider us hired."

"Shouldn't you ask literally any of us of our opinion on the matter?"

(Jurea)

Flora just shrugged.

"We are already headed that way anyway, and if she dies, she dies."

"I can look after myself, if I don't get attacked from behind."

"See? It's settled. Let's get going, the sooner we get to the third set the better."

............

Construction at the newly acquired land was going on without a hitch.

Inventions from his world are revolutionary, just cement - which can be made into concrete - alone is a gods send with so many applications.

And since Siel will get me anything I need, I have a nearly endless supply of natural resources to work with.

With hired help I've already expanded into the forest more, and finished building my forge and work shop.

Of course, I've only used the hire help for clearing the land and little else, I can't have the technology from his world falling into the wrong hands.

So, after they were done clearing the land, I laid the foundations and built the buildings.

It was hard work, but I had Thonie to help me.

No matter what I ask for, she will help out.

Be it lifting rocks, or pulling walls down.

Sometimes I think she's just as smart as a mortal, sometimes smarter than some.

Siel even sent someone to carve a teleportation circle onto my forge floor, connecting the new property to my forge in Saltwater.

He provided the high-rank Mana hearts and everything.

Unfortunately some of the hired help came back and saw the concrete and other things I made from his world, hopefully they don't run their mouths about things they don't understand.

I already made a primitive wind turbine, and with any luck, later this week I'll build a capacitor or battery to store excess electricity.

This of course is only the start, water turbines, solar cells, or friction generators the possibilities are endless.

I might be just a simple blacksmith, but the future is at my fingertips!

Which reminds me, I've got to return to town, Siel probably has my next shipment in already.

As I start walking towards the teleportation circle Thonie starts to follow me.

"No girl, I need you to stay here and... guard this place."

She looked up at me with her big eyes, basically telling me she knew I just didn't want to take her with me.

Then she slithered back to the shed I made for her.

I feel guilty, this is the reason you should never get a pet - irrational guilt.

Maybe I'll get her some live rats while in town, she loves those.

I went to the teleportation circle and activated it, instantly I was at A Craftsman's Pride.

Siel wanted the teleportation circle to go directly to his house, but I shot that right down.

As I made my way across town I saw some street kids.

"Hey, you over there, stop."

A skinny human kid stopped and looked at me.

"Me?"

(Kid)

"Yes, I'll pay you a copper now, and a silver later to catch me some rats."

I held the two coins up for him to see.

"You're paying that much for some rats?! How much do you want?"

"For the amount I'm paying for, about a dozen, and anymore after that I'll pay you a copper for each one. Just meet me back here in around an hour."

"Consider it done lady."

I tossed him the copper, and he ran off.

Maybe if he does a good enough job I'll hire him in the future.

If past me could see me now, she'd call me an idiot for wasting coin on a monster, but somehow I don't care.

I know I shouldn't waste coin when I should be spending it on building up our new property first and foremost, but when I see Thonie's face light up I know it's worth it.

All of this means one thing of course, no matter what Flora can never find out.

I shook myself out of my reverie, and continued to Siel's place.

Once I got there, I started to bang on the door.

"Open up! I don't got all day!"

The dwarf Ternis opened the door.

"Your..."

"Acquaintance."

"Yes, your acquaintance is waiting for you in Slogmire, you must take the portal."

"He better have what I asked for, I got stuff to do."

I was taken to his office under Slogmire.

It is empty save a desk, bookshelf, and a cot to the side.

His office reminds me of his personality exactly, cold and to the point.

"Hello, how are you Emira?"

Siel came into the office with a smile and greeting.

"You can skip the pleasantries, we both know you don't mean them, and I don't care anyway. Do you have what I asked for?"

"Do I ever let you down?"

I looked at his empty hands.

"Where are they?"

"They're on the way, I sent Janith to go get them when you arrived. I must say your orders have been... peculiar to say the least lately. I mean limestone, gravel, sand, and now saltpeter, and sulfur.

I've heard things, like the first things you asked for you used to make a new type of rock. I wonder what the last two things are for?"

I knew he'd spy on me, but at least he won't get the recipe for the last thing I'm making.

After all the third ingredient I made myself, but he'll just assume it's garbage.

"I've heard they are really good for growing crops."

"You're not a farmer."

"It's a hobby."

"You know whatever you are really working on I could be of more use hands-on."

He sat down, then looked up at me.

"I think the best thing for this town... no... for this country is if we never work together again."

"Why not? We are amazing together."

He smiled.

"Have you already forgotten why we got exiled here never to return?"

He crossed his arms, and lost the grin.

"I'll never forget, they were and are imbeciles. We created something great and they punished us for it."

"They were not the idiots, and we got off easier than we deserved."

"You're still not over that?"

"How can I be? It is because of us that village is no more, and why my... my... why the village chieftain and his wife were killed."

"Sacrifices for the greater good are made all the time."

"When bodies start to pile up, maybe it isn't that good."

"You can't blame yourself for them not being strong enough to live."

"Oh, I do blame myself, but I blame you more. After all, what kind of man lies to a child to make her help him."

"I never lied to you."

"What was it you said? Oh, yes, we're going to craft something to help our entire village."

"We did."

"We made a weapon, that wiped out not only our village, but countless more before it was stopped."

He shrugged his shoulders, as if the lives lost were no more important than an insect.

"Prototypes are normally failures, it takes practice to make it perfect."

"And what if the next time a country is what gets destroyed? What then?"

"I..."

"Ahem."

We both looked over and saw Janith standing there, waiting to give the capacity ring he was holding.

"How long were you there?"

"I announced myself as soon as I came into earshot ma'am, what the boss discusses is for him to decide who hears it."

"Very well."

I went over to him and took the ring.

"Send one of your spies to collect the ring later."

I started walking away.

"You can keep it if you want."

"I'm good."

"You can't stay angry with me forever."

"Goodbye Siel."

"I am your uncle after all, I'm all you have left."

I walked out the door.

__________________________

As I went back to A Craftsman's Pride I picked up the sack full of rats the kid gave me.

It had to be at least fifty rats in there.

I might have to hire him full-time.

As I came through the portal the first thing I noticed was that everything was in shambles.

I dropped the sack of rodents.

Someone ransacked my place while I was away, probably to find what I've been working on.

Hiiiissssss!!!!!!!

I heard a loud hiss from outside.

"Hahaha, man why don't you stop playing with it, and just kill it already?"

I started towards the door.

No, they can't be talking about her, her shed is on the other side of the cleared property by the house. They'd have to go out of their way to get her.

They're here just for my shit, that's all.

But then I remembered what I told her, guard this place.

Hiiiissssss!!!!!!!

No...no,no,no,no,no,no...no!

I broke into a run.

Outside were a dozen men in armor, a particularly heavy-set one had his foot on Thonie's head.

Thonie was covered in cuts and her arm was bent awkwardly.

"Seriously man, just kill it, so we can go back to searching the place."

One with rotting teeth was trying to convince the fat one to go back to robbing my forge.

"Sorry, no can do, I hate slangans. They killed a girl I was sweet on."

Fattie put his fist onto his chest, and squeezed his eyes tightly shut until a single tear fell down his cheek.

"You were gonna dump her, she was just a quick fuck."

"Yeah, but I could've got another fuck in before I left her with a bastard in her

belly."

These inbred shit stains hurt her!

"Hey, pig fucker!"

They all turned towards me.

"Shit! I told you we didn't have time for that shit."

"Shut up! This just means we get to have a little fun before we go back to work. Hey little fella, do ya want to make our easier or harder? I'm telling you now, I to kill painfully slow."

"You're all going to die."

"Hahaha hahaha!!!!"

(All of them )

Before they finished laughing I charged at them.

The first one I reached was the fat lard ass that had his foot on Thonie.

He raised a giant mace to smack my head, but I punched his armor first while activating my crafting magic - what Jay would call his stat.

Normally I - nor any respectable Dalian blacksmith - would never use crafting magic, not even in battle.

Not only is it inferior too actual forged items, it's like announcing to the world that you did not have the skill to make it yourself.

But these fuckers have just angered me.

All of his armor merged onto me, I then grabbed his mace from his hand while a hammer I crafted from the armor bashed his head in.

They were all stunned by the sight, good.

The next one I reached I made his helmet totally encase his entire head.

Shaken out of their shock by unadulterated fear, two came at me swords raised.

I grasped both swords in my hands, and they became like putty.

Putty that shot forth straight into their necks, and hardened back into their sword like forms.

A twitch of my arms, and their heads rolled.

Next I formed two blades on my arms from the metal armor, I then slashed the legs off the next unfortunate soul that came near me.

I then impaled his chest with my blade.

Three of them thought that if they ganged up on me it would be enough, they were wrong.

I spun in a circle touching each and every single one of them, and in turn their armor grew spikes on the inside to impale them.

Three more were fumbling with their bows, I made three throwing knives and threw them into their necks.

The last one thought he could just run away.

He dropped his mace, and ran full speed away from me.

The armor on my arm formed a spear and spear thrower.

I tossed the spear, and it jabbed him in his leg, he went down like a sack of potatoes.

I slowly walked over to him.

As I neared him I smelled the distinctive scent of piss.

"What the hell are you man!"

"To you, I guess I'm just death."

I formed an axe with the metal on my body and cleaved his head in two.

Finally, I went back to the guy whose head I had encased in metal.

I touched the helmet and an ear-hole appeared.

"In about five to ten minutes you'll suffocate. If you wish to avoid that, you'll tell me what I wish to know. Nod if you understand me."

He quickly nodded his head, and I made him a mouth hole to speak out of.

"Guh! Thank you, thank you!!!!!"

"Who sent you?"

"We don't do names."

"Then, I guess I wasted an air hole, now didn't I?"

His mouth hole started to slowly close.

"WAIT, WAIT!! I CAN TELL YOU WHAT WE WERE TOLD TO LOOK FOR!!"

"Make it quick, like your life depends on it."

"A weapon, we were sent to search for a weapon unheard of before. It is supposed to be something we could never fathom to understand.

Someone thinks you make weapons of mass destruction.

We were only humoring the dumb fuck! No one believes that a hick from this back water town could make anything powerful enough to be a weapon of mass destruction.

We just thought that we could just raid some shit from you and be on our way.

But then, that dumb monster tried to stop us and Fyrro wanted to have some fun.

Please just let me go!"

Well, at least that excludes Siel, he knows what I'm capable of, and would never send incompetent fools like this.

"Why would I do that?"

"You said like my life depended on it."

"Yes, how quickly your life ended. Either a slow or quick death was the only choice you were ever going to get.

Normally, I would forgive the theft, and just let bygones be bygones. But you hurt her, and I can't have that."

"Wai...."

The metal squashed his head before he got the chance to finish what he was about to say.

I went over to Thonie, lifted her up, and carried her to her shed.

"You did good, next time you're coming with me no matter what."

After I made sure she was safe, I went back into my forge.

Once there, I placed my hand on the floor in the corner.

Once I activated my crafting magic the floor gave way, and a secret compartment was revealed.

I took out what was inside.

In Jay's world it is called...

...

...

A gun.
