Shinosuke and Mayoi calmed down, apologizing to Mio for taking up her time.
"We're terribly sorry..." Shinosuke apologized.
"It's alright, although I myself don't really get what is going on here..." Mio said.
"Yeah... Me neither... I got caught up with this mess... We still have to plan the field trip for the first years... Then this happened... We're terribly sorry about this." Shinosuke and Mayoi both bowed.
"Alright, it is vary late now, please step aside so I can finish up and go home." Mio said.
"You're right, let's go home together, Chisato..." Shinosuke said.
"... If you wished so..." Mayoi blushed.
"Isn't her name Mayoi?" Mio thought as she walks away.
"How have you been over these three years?" Shinosuke asked solemnly.
"... It was scary at first, the attention that was projected to me was suddenly gone..." Mayoi said.
"But over time, I felt relieved... Like the expectations were gone, I felt free..." Mayoi added.
"I see... That is the extent of how I knew you... Being constantly in the spotlight, the expectations became gradually higher just because you performed very well." Shinosuke said.
"Fufufu... It is not difficult to imagine, but no one could imagine how it is to be the one in my shoes." Mayoi smiled.
"... At least she did, right?" Shinosuke smiled.
"Yeah... She saw that as a chance to break free from her fate... Perhaps having some expectations on her definitely made her feel alive." Mayoi said.
"Regardless... She is still a good girl." Mayoi added.
"True..." Shinosuke nodded.
The two talked all the way back to Mayoi's house, noticing that the family apparently sees Mayoi.
"Mayoi, I thought you are coming home at 3?" Mayoi's mother asked.
"Oh... Sorry for intruding..." Shinosuke said awkwardly.
"Darling! Mayoi brought a guy home!" Mayoi's mother quickly run into the house, alerting her husband to meet Shinosuke.
"What?! Who dares to take away my daughter?!" Mayoi's father soon appeared.
"What a lively family she has huh?" Shinosuke laughs.
"It has been fun being here too." Mayoi smiled.
"Cute..." Shinosuke uttered.
"Ah no! I didn't meant to say that!" Shinosuke said.
"... Does that mean I'm not cute?" Mayoi pouts.
"I... It might sound offensive that I called your smiling face cute..." Shinosuke said.
"Ohh... That I don't mind..." Mayoi said.
"What..." Shinosuke asked.
"I'll explain it later." Mayoi steps into the house.
"Come on in, make yourself at home." Mayoi invited.
"S-sure..." Shinosuke agreed.
"Onee-chan! Who is that creep!" Mayoi's little sister asked.
"Ouch, that is so impolite huh..." Shinosuke thought to himself.
"Mari-chan... It's not good calling your sister's friend a creep you know?" Mayoi said.
"O-okay... Nice to meet you... Creepy friend of onee-chan's." Mari said.
"That doesn't seem like anything solved..." Shinosuke is at the verge of vomiting blood.
"Mari-chan!" Mayoi became angry.
"... It is really not a good idea to make Chisato angry..." Shinosuke takes down a note mentally.
"Young man, do you care to have a dinner with us?" Mayoi's father patted on Shinosuke's back, inviting him for a dinner.
"Yes, I'd love to. I'll have to tell my family about this." Shinosuke gets up to make a call home.
"... Alright, I'll be back at 8, see you at home." Shinosuke felt a presence behind him.
"Oh, it's you. Your name is Mari-chan right?" Shinosuke said.
"Are you onee-chan's boyfriend?" Mari asked.
"Eh? No, I'm not." Shinosuke said.
"Really? She looked angry when I called you a creep, I still don't know your name yet..." Mari fidgeted.
"Oh, I'm sorry. My name is Shimamura Shinosuke." Shinosuke introduced himself.
Shinosuke then proceeded to have a dinner with the family, Shinosuke noticed something weird about the family. After dinner, Mayoi offered to see Shinosuke off at the station.
"Even if this is a miracle, something does not add up." Shinosuke said.
"What is it?" Mayoi asked.
"It seems like some memories of ours doesn't add up..." Shinosuke said.
"It could be the fog..." Shinosuke speculated.
"Mayoi mentioned about fog a few times when she explained how she got into all this problems. Maybe there is a key figure behind this?" Shinosuke became curious.
"Mayoi-chan definitely have found the way to return me to my body, let's put our faith in her..." Mayoi said.
"I see... By the way... you said you don't mind, is that about me bringing Mayoi to a date?" Shinosuke asked.
"I had understood your feelings, I think it is fine for you to have the same feelings on both of us, I don't mind about it now." Mayoi looked at Shinosuke with a smile.
"That would make me a player you know?" Shinosuke asked.
"But what can we do? We both fell for the same person." Mayoi smiled.
"You..." Shinosuke sighs and pulled Mayoi towards him.
"Huh? Ehh! Mmmmnnmm!" The highlight of that night, Shinosuke kissed Mayoi. The two continued walking towards the station, now with them holding hands.
"I probably won't forgive myself with this." Shinosuke said before going home.
"Have a safe trip, Shinosuke-kun." Mayoi sees him off with a smile.
"You too." Shinosuke smiled back.
Mayoi's phone buzzed, it seems like Shinosuke sent her a mail.
"I'll call you when I get home."
Mayoi smiled, it seems like today is such a wild ride, being both depressed and the happiest girl alive. She secretly prays for Shinosuke's success on his date with Chisato on her way home.
Shinosuke arrived at his house, noticing a pair of shoes that does not belong to his family.
"What in the world is this...?" Shinosuke felt a chill.
"Oh, you came home." A familiar voice echoed from the stairs. It turns out that Chisato has been here the whole time after leaving from school.
"Oh Shin-chan, your friend dropped by, she's been waiting for you the whole time you know?" Shinosuke's mother said.
"Wait... No, I told you I'm at Mayoi's right? You could have told me that she's here." Shinosuke tried to reason with his mother.
"Well... She said this is a surprise, so she asked me not to tell you." Shinosuke's mother said.
"Wha..." Shinosuke is more confused.
"I have something to talk to you, it is about tomorrow." Chisato said.
"Do I even have a choice?" Shinosuke asked.
"Well, I knew you hung out with my family, I was envious of her, being able to make them notice her." Chisato pouted.
"... The most important thing is that you should go home at this instant, it's too late, you don't want to miss your curfew don't you?" Shinosuke dragged Chisato out of his house.
"Aww, you're worried after all..." Chisato teases.
"Give me a call when you got back. We'll talk there." Shinosuke said in a serious tone.
"... Ah okay..." Chisato gazes at Shinosuke until that sight turned into a shut door.
"Kyaaa! He's so cool when he sounded like that!" Chisato fawns over Shinosuke on her way home.
