Chapter 51 - […and Glory]

James flew towards the enemies and just casually pierced tens of small void-ships on the way. – "EAT THIS, BASTARDS!!"

'[Void Thunder]'

His originally blue electric energy became suddenly grey. Lightning bolts began appearing right from the void, inside the enemy ships, inside the bodies of the enemies, burning them to crisp.

Explosions and scorched remains surrounded his big figure.

At this point from the ship appeared thousands of figures, each clad in golden armor. Some of them were dying every second due to James' invisible attacks, but there were always more to fill the gaps.

'Damn…they've figured my range pretty instantly…'

'[Electric Armament]'

The enemies who were already throwing spears and shooting energy rays towards him drew their swords the moment James' body was covered by a layer of electric energy condensed in a form of full-body armor.

His speed increased.

"DIEEEE!" – He screamed and just slammed through an enemy shattering his body into many small bloody pieces. – "ARGHH." – An unfortunate energy beam hit his leg, but it didn't slow him in the sightliest.

The only difference was that his body was slightly shrinking in volume.

Old Hound was flying around and shooting with a crossbow. The darts directly appeared inside it.

'[Ice Round]' Created a massive area where hundreds of enemies became frozen statues.

'[Explosion Round]' Then shattered all the armored figures stuck in ice.

On his back, there was a pair of massive eagle wings made of some sort of azure misty energy. He stopped for a second in mid-air and was immediately swarmed by enemies.

'[Hydra]' Underneath his legs appeared a huge portal formed from the same azure mist. *ROAAAR*

99 gigantic serpent-like creatures emerged from it and started shredding the golden figures. Armors were penetrated like butter with a hot knife.

The lucky survivors, who only lost three or fewer limbs just succumbed to the poison and, shortly after disintegrated in a puddle of poisonous miasma, mixed with unrecognizable goo-like bodies.

From that toxic mix appeared minuscule, compared to the real thing, snakes made entire from poison and launched themselves towards the nearby enemies.

"It's been so many years since I used my true body." – Doctors' voice sounded right behind Hound. – "Don't die. You are my prey, Weaver." – Said the hunter without even turning his head.

"I always preferred being called Doctor…"

'[Descent]' A pitch-black portal opened soundlessly above a group of golden soldiers who were escaping and regrouping after the encounter with Hydra. A cocoon made of dark fiber, suspended on a comparatively thin thread, emerged from it.

*Crack* Crack* Crack*

The whole surface became covered by tiny cracks, with some black gas leaking from them. The area became misty.

The cocoon opened but no one managed to see what, or who was inside.

'[Web]'

All the armored figures suddenly froze…

'[Consume]'

…and collapsed into one point. Only Old Hound managed to see a nearly invisible black web that already covered everything and everyone which also absorbed the enemies. – "Not so tasty…"

"They are just puppets." – Commented Hound and shot a burning bold towards another wave of opponents.

Meanwhile on the ground appeared an unremarkable building. Klein was on top of its roof, injecting energy.

"This should be enough." – He nodded as the building came to life. A door opened and a row of featureless beings emerged from it. They immediately began building something while Klein hopped on a flying platform and flew up.

He didn't even spare a glance towards the approaching enemies. His mechanical hand pointed towards them. Runes flashed; gears moved faster.

'[Construct Genesis]'

At first, nothing happened, but the next moment an invisible ripple passed through the golden mens' bodies.

Another second passed and all of them, as one, raised their swords and cut their own throats. But it wasn't the end. The bodies didn't fall, but instead went towards their ex-companions and attacked them. – "Hehehe…Now your armors are just my constructs." – Klein Chuckled.

'A pity that this too energy-consuming…'

On the ground, his workers already constructed another building: it closely resembled a massive cannon.

Benjamin was relatively less destructive than his companions. He considered himself a martial artist more than anything else, so his skills were less useful than in large-scale battles.

However, that was true if one compared to someone as vice-captain Willmar who could suppress thousands with one spell.

'[Punch]'

Ten enemies were blown away by a single quick jab.

'[PunchX2]'

Every time he punched, the damage inflicted became slightly higher. After the first ten hits, a half-transparent red aura condensed around his muscular body.

*Clanck* A spear was deflected when about to hit Benjamins' body.

'[PunchX24]'

'[PunchX50]'

The aura was already condensed into 5 centimeters thick protective layer.

A whole hundred of golden warriors were blasted by this hit.

The tenth punch would be considered a calamity comparable to a natural disaster.

Benjamin himself shivered in anticipation. There weren't many occasions to use this amount of power.

He grinned.

'[PunchX51]'

In another location, hundreds of different weapons condensed from the pure energy of Battle Master Loranna were dismembering enemy troops.

His [Arsenal] was mass-producing weapons. When a sword slashed, or a spear pierced something or someone it was immediately dispersed into pure energy that returned to Battle Master, and another one was created and sent forward into battle.

This process raised Lorannas' killing speed to a whole new level.

When some enemies finally managed to break through and were about to attack, he put his hands in a praying position.

'[Detonate]'

And all the weapons exploded at the same time. Most of the energy returned immediately back and a fresh new wave of killing tools emerged from his [Arsenal].

Alexander had no skill that could help him float or fly so even if his energy was overflowing, he could only helplessly observe.

"Just watch. You are too young and weak to join them right now…" – With a smile, Captain John patted his shoulder. "Such a pity that you've joined us so late. I am very sorry."

Alexander didn't understand but Blake didn't elaborate further.

"Captain! Should we also take action?" – Asked Willmar, already recovered from the previous strain. John shook his head. – "No. We are waiting for the Big one…all of this is meaningless anyway but if we can injure him…" – He stopped talking.

"Anyway, Helena, you can eat some of them. To warm up, or something."

Bird-woman just scoffed. – "It would be too much effort just to hold back and not eat that insect of darkness…" – John smiled caringly. He was fondling a simple black rink on his index finger. Willmar noticed it and then threw a sneaky glance towards Alex. – "Are you sure? We can find someone better…"

"You think so? This whole world is probably under surveillance right now. Anyone as strong as us would be noticed right away…"

Willmar tried to interject. – "But we could…"

"Our souls are also too strong for it, so even by discarding the body nothing will change." – Then he also looked at Alex who already understood that they were talking about him, but everything grew unceasingly confusing.

"He on the other hand is very weak, and I can use some energy to protect him…Actually, there are two other reasons, but…" – He let out a small laugh. – "…they are probably not very convincing."

'I have a firm belief that the future belongs to the new generation, my friend. Young Ocean Lords will become as strong as us or even stronger… And so will Alexander.' – John transmitted his thoughts directly into Willmars' mind.

'I understand…but…will this boy be up to the task?' – His expression remained neutral, but John perceived some worry.

'No idea, but I am sure that the boy has some particular destiny as he just randomly found and fused with the Boundless Map. He is talented and has some previously unseen bloodline that even we can't gauge easily.'

'…ok, about this you may be right. But what about the moral character?'

'About that…we can only hope.'

Willmar didn't understand. 'Hope?'

'Yes. Hope that for the little that we gave him, he will be grateful enough to bear with the legacy that I am about to selfishly place on his shoulders.' Willmar sighed. 'I will only hope that you are as always right, John.'

Captain only smiled and Helena scoffed. – "What are you two old guys talking about?" – Then she waved her hand uncaringly. – "Probably something nasty."

"Boy." – Alex was lost in thought then she called for him. – "Ah…wha…Yes?" – Her unhuman eyes pierced his whole being. He felt that his every thought was scrutinized by those eyes.

Suddenly his body ignited, covered by purple flame. Alex even felt a sense of arrogance and aggression from his bloodline. Helena frowned. 'It's resisting and fighting back…interesting.'

She retracted her 'gaze'. – "Take good care of it." – She pointed towards his snake bracelet.

'She knows…?' – Alex wasn't really surprised thou. All crew members of Sorrow were monsters…

'Ahaha…everyone except one.'

Suddenly he felt something and looked up.

"He is here." – Said Captain Blake.
