Chereads / Ocean of Broken Dreams / Chapter 27 - [Epilogue]

Chapter 27 - [Epilogue]

The whole crew was outside, on the main deck. They were silent, serious and even gloomy. Their only presence created an invisible pressure which pressed down on the small figure in front of the Captain's cabin.

The door opened and appeared John. The pressure on Nameless immediately doubled. Some beads of sweat appeared on his forehead and soon he was completely drenched.

"Today is a special day, my subordinates, my friends." – Started John. – "During our last mission, as everyone already know, this nameless boy…" – He pointed Nameless. – "…awakened his bloodline. And not only that. His tenacity and luck permitted me to pass swiftly the trial on the Third Star Island."

Everybody knew that Captain was able to pass that small trial even completely alone, but still they nodded approvingly.

"His unyieldingness…I appreciated it. I felt that it was worthy of our ship. Worthy of our crew."

He stopped and looked directly at Nameless.

"So, I decided to, as the eighth captain of the Sorrow of the Black Sea, to invite you to our crew! Do accept?!"

The last two word were roared, and the pressure intensified even more!

Nameless trembled. He closed his eyes for a moment.

Then he reopened them. A burning desire and determination illuminated his face!

"I accept!"

"You don't have a name. I will give you one. From now on your name will be Alexander. Are you ok with this?"

Nameless trembled even more. Some unknown emotion suddenly sprouted in his heart. A tear was about to fall but his face twitched, and it was evaporated with a flash of purple flame.

Captain nodded extremely satisfied by this boy. This was an agreement more convinced then any spoken words could transmit.

"Now, repeat after me." – He raised his hand in the air and suddenly a black crow landed on it. It was looking straight on Alexander. It was waiting.

"I, Alexander, vow to protect the freedom of the residents of the Broken Ocean!"

The boy repeated, and suddenly felt some energy enveloping him.

"I, Alexander, vow to always be faithful to my heart, and never be subjugated!"

He expected a pledge of obedience but not this.

"I, Alexander, vow to protect the honor of the Sorrow of the Black Sea!"

He repeated the last line the crow suddenly darted in his direction and pierced his heart!

No, he thought that the crow pierced it, but instead id disappeared inside him. Alexander could fell it's presence and also suddenly could feel everybody else from the crew.

Captain waited for something.

*CRAAAW*

The boy suddenly felt a pain in his eyes and fell on the ground covering the face. – "AAAAAAHHHHHH."

After a few seconds the pain disappeared, and he stood up. Everybody immediately noticed that in both of his pupils there was an image: a ship pierced by a huge sword with a skull-shaped handle.

The flag of the Sorrow!

"Now you are a part of our crew." – Said Captain while smiling. The pressure disappeared and suddenly a wave of weakness submerged Alexander.

He fell unconscious on the deck.

[…]

In some other place extremely distant from the Broken Ocean an immense golden throne was floating in the space outside the worlds.

It was bigger than a planet.

Flows of golden energy surrounded it from every side.

A figure, radiating infinite majesty and power, silently observed the world under the throne. No one could say what it was thinking.

Its young face was like a marvelous, but still emotionless, mask.

He wasn't blinking and in his gray eyes were reflected the lives of every single resident of the world bellow.

Nothing could break his glacial calmness.

Entire ages passed away as reflections, forever imprinted in his memory.

Suddenly his gaze intensified, and the golden flows started moving faster and erratically.

He slowly raised his hand and he finished this simple motion tens of years passed in the world.

No one knew that a calamity was about to befall.

Suddenly the golden energy started condensing into huge, hundreds of kilometers long, swords.

Still cold and glorious the man pushed his hand down.

The swords followed the command and pierced the World Barrier like the hot knife would pierce a piece of butter.

Entire continents shattered. Billions of creatures died in a span of a few breaths.

Now only flames and destruction were reflected in the emotionless pupils which suddenly shined with golden light and around the throne appeared many portals.

Thousands upon thousands of strange looking warships silently made their appearance and flew inside the burning world.

Suddenly a thunderous roar could be heard from below and a something like a shining speck of dust, compared to the whole world, shot towards the throne.

It was a humanoid being. Slightly burned he was holding a battle axe. Compared to the throne he was like an ant, but his aura made him akin to an exploding star.

The golden lord didn't react, and only observed the person who dared defy him.

Some very rare glint suddenly appeared in the depth of his eyes. It was respect for the courage.

He raised his hand and a beam of light obliterated the flying man.

Nothing remained.

The ships started bombarding the remains of the world and after some years which felt like less than a second to the man on the throne the world started crumbling and shattering.

It could not sustain more destruction.

The swords became the golden energy, and the warships returned to where they came from.

Only the man remained observing the last breaths of a dying world.

Suddenly he turned his head and looked in the distance. His gaze seemed to be able to pierce the space itself.

He saw a very familiar to him world.

Boundless ocean filled with infinite islands.

The same moment his gaze landed on this world, something looked back at him.

It was a single glance, but some blood appeared on the corners of the gray eyes.

He smiled and the space around his face cracked, unable to hold even this simple movement of his.

His lips moved soundlessly completely shattering a small part of space.

No one could hear what he was saying except for the being which looked back at him.

"Through endless Cosmos I'll came to the Deep…Wishing only for…"
