Nothing... We scan the area several times but we still don't see or hear anything. Chip moves to my side as Alec stands at the other but nothing happens. We all look at each other before nodding and moving.
We all stay quiet as we continue to walk. I step on a lifted root and slip but Alec grabs my arm and keeps me from falling. I give him a grateful look before looking back at the root but nothing was there! I freeze and turn back to look at the ground.
Alec frowns and looks at me in question. I look at him then back to the ground with confusion... was I mistaken? Then what had I tripped on? I lightly touch the ground where the root had been but the ground was completely solid and undisturbed.
What the hell... I feel a chill run down my back making me freeze. I look around us with a frown as I stay crouching. Alec and the others tense when they feel it as well. We stay close as we continue watching and waiting.
