I release Chip and pet him over and over as I say "It's okay, I'm okay, you're okay." I sounded like a broken record but I would do it as many times it takes to calm him. My disappearance had really hurt him... After another thirty minutes, Chip was calm.
Even though he was calm he didn't speak... he just laid against me quietly. Tears burn their way down my face as my heart breaks for him. I lean against him sniffling as I quietly say "Everything's okay now..." Chip begins purring again but still doesn't speak causing me to grow worried.
I don't know how long we stayed like that but I know the moment he slips into a deep sleep. He must have been exhausted... I gently rub him before grabbing a pillow and blanket off the couch. I prop his head up and wrap him tightly with the blanket.
