Chip looks at me then at the door. His body tenses up at the sight. I lift my hands to my mouth and try to control my breathing. My stomach clenches when I see the doorknob turning... it was trying to open the door!
I was suddenly glad I locked the door but the feeling didn't last long. Suddenly the lock began turning! I quickly run over to the door and grab the lock. I look up to see the gaping holes that once held its eyes and shudder.
It tries to turn the lock again as I hold on to it for dear life. I should have known that an office building like this would have a two-way lock on their doors... The creature tries again to open it causing the lock to dig into my fingers but I refuse to release it.
It suddenly stops and turns its head to listen. I hold my breath and wait with my heart in my throat. Please go away... please... It leans in close, listening. After a few moments, it leans back and crouches low, lifting its head and sniffing.
