The day rained hard in the City of Bellmeadow. Cars drove past a woman. She wore her dark brown hair in a messy bun. Her outfit was made of a woman's business outfit. Her high heels clicked as she walked fast down the sidewalk, passing all the others. Suddenly her umbrella flies out of her hand. "Damn!" she chases it while trying not to fall. "Excuse me! Sorry!" she says as she tries her best to walk past the groups of people coming her way. When she finally has a clearing she darts for the umbrella. "COME HERE!" she grabs it before it has time to fly away again. "Got ya!" she smiles big as she puts it above her.
"Excuse me miss. I think you have my umbrella" A man approaches her with another umbrella.
She stares at the one she was holding. It had flowers on it. "Oh I'm sorry." she hands the man his as he hands her to her. "Thank you" She thanks him as she walks away. She looks up at her umbrella. Destiny and Skylar is read on one end. "They would have killed me if I brought home the wrong one." She signals for a cab. One pulls up. She gets in.
"Where to?" the driver asks as he looks in the mirror.
"The Rusty Motel please" She smiles at him.
"Okay"
As he drives she looks out the window. Building after building passes her. She wishes she could get out of this huge place. But she can't nor does she really want to. She pulls out her buzzing phone. "Yes Jason?" She smiles big just by hearing his voice. "Yes I did have fun. Yes yes I promise we'll do this next week too. Okay. Love you too" she hangs up the phone.
"We here. That'll be 5:50 please"
"Okay here you go" She hands him the money as she gets out. "Thank you"
"No problem miss" He drives away towards the city.
She watches the car drive off. "The city is so pretty at night." She stares for a moment at the bright city before hearing a little girl yelling.
"Robin you're back!" a little girl, with long black hair an a dress on, runs up to her.
"Destiny, what have I told you about running outside" Robin scolds her as she bends down to her.
"Sorry Robin. Shes just too fast" A boy with dirty blonde curly hair says as he walks up to them. He was clearly out of breath.
"Its okay Micheal. Lets just get inside before someone gets a cold." Robin smiles at Destiny.
As they walk toward the motel Destiny speaks.
"You know my gym teacher said I could make it as a star runner next year if I really wanted too" She smiles big.
"I know sweety but lets just see how much all that will cost before we make any big decisions." Robin opens the door to let the other two in. When she closes the door she stands in a living room. A long light green couch sits in front of the door. A TV stands in front of the couch. A door is by the TV while on the other side is a opened door that leads to a hall way. Robin takes off her jacket. A window that has purple curtains are by the coat rack. "Skylar what have I said about watching the news?" A girl sits on the couch as her eyes are glued to the TV.
Skylar sighs "I know I know. Don't watch it or you'll have nightmares" She turns the TV off. "I'll be upstairs if you need me" she goes into the hallway and walks up the stairs.
Robin sighs. "So what was for dinner?" She walks into the kitchen, which has a opening to the hallway an living room.
"Frozen pizza" Destiny sighs. "Can we please have something that isn't frozen for tomorrow?"
"I would love too but.." Robin sees her face. "How about I try to figure something out. But first its 9 at night which means bed time. Have you taken a bath yet?"
Destiny nods her head. "Yes. I'll go get ready for bed." she runs upstairs.
"Love you! Goodnight!" Robin yells as she watches her go upstairs.
"You know she does love you." Micheal said as he put up a dish.
Robin sighed. "I know..." she looked out the kitchen window. "I promise one day that we will never have to worry about money ever again" She turned to him. "Promise" She held out her pinkie.
He smiled. "Promise" He grabbed his sisters pinkie with his.
"Okay night, little man" She rubs his head making his hair messy. She laughed as she walked up the stairs. When she got to the top she saw Skylar in her room laying down. She looked angry. Robin sighed. "Hey.." she stood in the door frame and knocked. "Can I come in?"
Skylar looked up at her sister. "Sure..." she said in a faint voice.
As Robin walked in Skylar sat up. Robin sat on her bed looking at her. "Everything alright with you kiddo?"
Skylar pulled her knees to her chest. "No..."
Robin looked worried. "Why not? Whats wrong?"
Skylar looked at her toes not wanting to look at her sister. "Its about mom..."
Robin sighed. She looked at the ground but than back at her sister. "What about her?"
Skylar looked up at her. "She called me. She said that shes clean now..." She started to tear up.
"Hey hey" Robin pulled her sister in for a hug. "Its okay"
"She wanted to know if we wanted to see her" She started to cry into Robins shirt. "I don't know if I can handle her. She always makes promises but never fulfills them"
Robin ran her fingers through her sisters hair. "I know" She kissed her head. "Hey look at me"
Skylar pulled away an looked at her sister.
"Do you want to see her?"
Skylar wiped her face. "Yes...sort of.."
"Well.." Robin pulled a piece of Skylar's hair back behind her ear. "If you want to see her than I'll make sure I'm there for your backup. How does that sound?"
Skylar nodded. She hugged her tight. "Thank you"
Robin smiled as she hugged her sister tight.
"Can I have a hug?"
Both girls looked at the doorway. Destiny stood there looking sad. They smiled at her.
"Yes you dork" Robin said as she held out her arm for her.
Destiny smiled big as she went to her sisters. "I love you guys."
"I love you guys too" Robin kissed both girls heads.
As the sisters all hugged while Micheal sat outside. He sat with a plate in his hands. It had leftovers on it. As he sat, the door to the other side of the Motel opened. A girl with long orange red hair came out crying. She wore a pink tank top with blue shorts. Micheal sat quiet. He knew the girl was new. She just moved in not to long ago with her family.
He sat quiet as he watched her.
She cried as she sat on the ground against the wall. She buried her face in her knees.
Micheal felt bad for her. So he approached her. "Hi..."
She looked up at him.
He smiled awkwardly. They did this for about three minutes when Micheal knew he wasn't welcomed. "Listen, I'm sorry" he started to walk away when she stood fast and asked, "Please stay.."
He turned to her. She shivered as she stood there holding her arms. He smiled. "Okay..."
As they both sat down she asked him something. "Whats your name?"
Micheal looked at her. She didn't look away from the ground. "Names Micheal. Yours?"
She laughed. "Its a stupid name really..."
He laughed with her. "Come on. It cant be that bad?"
"Sophia" she looked at him. "Its an awful name."
He nodded his head. "You are right! It truly is awful!"
They both laughed.
As he laughed he looked at her. She was truly breathtaking he thought. He than started to blush.
She looked at him smiling. "What you got there?"
He blushed more. "What do you mean?" He looked at her confused.
"That silly." She pointed to his plate of food.
"Oh this." he let out a sigh of relief. "Its leftovers. I was going to throw them away but I got distracted by the sky."
"oh..." she stared at the food.
He raised a brow. "You hungry?" He moved the plate closer to her.
"No no I cant" She pushed it away.
"I mean its going to be thrown away if you aren't going to eat it" He smiled big knowing she would take it.
"Fine" She quickly took the food.
As she ate Micheal noticed something on her shoulder as her hair moved. He looked closer and saw it was a bruise. He swallowed hard.
She noticed him looking. "Don't worry. I fell playing basketball with my older brothers." she ate the food fast.
He sighed. "okay..." he looked at the night sky as they sat there.
