"come one Seo Yeon!" Jung Eun Ji, Seo Yeon's high school best friend whined, pulling on her arm as she dragged her to her party.
both women, though equally beautiful, had very different looks.
Eun Ji's 5.6 ft stature, light brown eyes and flush pink lips gave her a look of complete innocence even when she wore a revealing backless red dress with her ombre colored shoulder length hair straightened, making her look like an editorial model. Men loved her, women wanted to be her.
then there was Seo Yeon, 5.7ft tall with the darkest pair of eyes that made everyone assume that it was black (it wasn't).
her hair, long and wavy, never saw the end of a curler or straightener, or God forbid, a hair dye (no matter how many times people tried to convince her).
her sister had chosen a blue fitting dress that showcased all her curves and a pair of silver Louis Vuitton heels.
did she forget to mention she didn't like wearing heels? probably.
she didn't like using make-up, didn't like attending parties though she had to in the end, she was smart and beautiful. tall and striking. kind in the most unusual ways. but she always had an icy aura that drove people away before they could get close.
men never told her they wanted her and women knew they could never be her.
though Eun Ji loved basking in the adoration of the public, Seo Yeon didn't.
she felt lonely most times, even when she was surrounded by people.
"Isn't it too early to have a bachelorette party Eun Ji?" Seo Yeon asked, pursing her lips as she stared at the entrance of the extravagant club.
Club Ace was a place for the elite, meant for parties, meetings and even weddings, it was a paradise created by her younger brother, Jong Soo.
it also had its fair share of scandals, not that the world knew.
"yes! your assistant told me that you're filled for the coming month so you won't have the time for a party. better now than never," Eun Ji grinned before adding. "Besides, how many times are you gonna get married for the first time?"
Seo Yeon replied to her friend's joke with a wry smile. "hopefully, only once."
as the two women stepped inside, Eun Ji's phone began to ring.
a soft smile appeared when she saw the name that flashed across the screen of her phone.
"I'll be waiting for you inside," Seo Yeon said, noticing the way her friend looked at the caller ID on her phone.
"Thanks Yeon-ah," Eun ji smiled before picking up the call.
"Hey honey!"
Seo Yeon fastened her pace on hearing the complete adoration in Eun Ji's voice.
it wasn't that she hated public displays of affection. She was brought up in a way that made her impenetrable to faux proclamations of love and safety. she didn't hate the idea of love, she just didn't...know how it felt. and maybe that made her feel empty. like she was somehow incomplete. broken.
nevertheless, Kim Seo Yeon put up a charming little smile and entered the room where all her colleagues and friends awaited to spend a day of fun and no inhibitions.
outside the exquisite club, Eun Ji smiled even with the cold wind biting at her cheeks.
"Are you doing okay?" the man on the other end of the call asked.
"I'm fine. I'm at the party right now, actually," she replied. The thought of the party seemed to dampen her mood. she had a secret to reveal.
"Be careful with Yoon-ah," Jong-In warned softly. "That girl is hard to figure out."
"I didn't want it to end this way Oppa," Eun Ji replied guiltily.
"Neither of us do, Eun Ji. but you never know, Yoon-ah might just agree. we never even tried with each other. and don't stay out too late! take care. both of you."
Eun Ji smiled at the concern in his voice. She was in love with her best friend's fiancee. She had fallen in love with Park Jong In when they first met in high-school. that time, she was just another one of the spoiled socialites that believed that she could get anything she wanted. but something about this carefree and sweet boy made her want to change. she tried everything in her power to become the girl he could be proud of. she made amends, donated to charity from her personal account instead of the family savings. she was going to change, for good.
then she found out that the man of her dreams was engaged to the school's very own Ice Queen, Kim Seo Yeon.
at first, she had befriended the cold monotone girl to sabotage their relationship. whatever relationship they seemed to share. and whenever she spent time with her, she would get to meet Jong In as well. Many a times she had found herself staring too long at the young master of Park Enterprises. Until he finally noticed.
but timing was always a bitch.
by the time Jong In had realised his feelings for the loud eccentric friend of his dearest childhood 'sweetheart', Eun Ji had started to like Seo Yeon.
maybe it all started the day of the nasty rumor that the brat Choi Hee Joon spreaded around the school. the one where he said that she was a very 'easy person'.
that day people had pointed at her, sneered at her, laughed at her behind her back and then some of the boys even approached her with 'gifts'. she remembered crying so hard that day when she finally found out. but she couldn't do anything about it. the Choi family were one of the higher-ups and one wrong word could end the future of her family.
Seo Yeon was silent that day and her displeasure for her had grown into hatred...
until she knocked on the bathroom stall she was crying in and told her that everything was going to be okay.
that was the first time she had heard her say something with more than an ounce of emotion.
the next day, the news of Hee Joon's family's bankruptcy had spread like wildfire.
Seo Yeon had done that. for her.
and now in return she was going out with her fiancee behind her back. the guilt gnawed on her. but he was the one. he was the one she wanted to spend the rest of her life with.
and she would do anything to make sure he ended up with her. not Yoon-ah.
