James didn't realize how much of that drug he had used until he came back to the docks hours later to find Angie slumped over, cold to the touch and chest not rising or falling from her breath. He didn't actually mean to do such a thing, but he shrugged and started to untie Angie's body from the chair. He would dump her into the ocean with weights and vanish without a trace. He would use his powers to leave no finger prints behind and change his appearance. He'd go back home to his wife and children and change their memories to believe that he had always looked the way he does. He honestly didn't like being a demon. He never wanted to become one. He had just wanted to die like he had believed would happen and that was it. To be buried six feet deep and forgotten had been his goal. He never believed in an afterlife, but when his soul had left his body in the 1800's and gone directly to the devil, he had vowed to make people's lives a living hell if this is what fate had in store for him.
Although, being a demon did have its perks.
After dropping Angie's body on the ground, he went to the now quiet suitcase, clicked the lock and opened it. His eyes narrowed. The gum he had been chewing on dropped from his drooping mouth. The suitcase was empty. What? How? His eyes must be playing with him. He knew for a fact that the weapon couldn't get out of that suitcase and it had to be collected by a demon once its master dies. Angie was dead. It should have been put to sleep for at least a couple of years. If the bond was great, it could be hundreds of years before a new demon could choose it, but yet it wasn't here.
James scratched his head and turned around to finish taking care of Angie's body but jumped back into the table that the suitcase was resting on when he found that Angie's body was no longer there. Crap. The other's must be around then. That's really the only explanation for the two mind games being played with him. He needed to clean up quick and head out before they could get to him.
"James."
He looked around, but saw nothing. He couldn't even feel a presence. The voice sounded a bit like Angie's but it was deeper and more gruff. He decided to ignore it and start the clean up process, but he heard the voice again, but this time it was closer.
"Screw you."
James rolled his eyes. "Angie."
There was a crunch sound behind him like someone stepping on twigs, but he didn't get a chance to turn around. There was excruciating pain as he fell back against a tree that was a few yards away from the docks. A burning on his back from deep claw marks. James stays on the ground, too in pain to move, watching as a creature rushes to him and hovers over it's prey. Him. It's more than 6 feet tall. Eyes blood red. Horns twisting up 2 feet into the air from the top of its head. It's skin is pitch black with red veins protruding and pulsing under the skin. Drool dripped from its mouth as it panted and growled at James. It's claws digging into the tree behind him.
James brows furrowed, not liking this situation. He shifted so that he could put his feet on Angie's chest and pushed with all his might; sending the demon flying back towards the docks. She lands on her back but is quick to get to her feet again.
"Smart move," James said, getting up from the ground; wincing in pain. "Letting yourself keel over so that you become a full fledged demon. My mistake for giving you too much of a dose... but if you want to play this game. We can play."
Angie does not want to let James transform, but she charges too late and his transformation is too quick. They clash claws. Snarling and teeth gnashing at each other, trying to get the upper hand. They're both locked in a grueling competition of strength and although James is her senior in the sense that he's been a demon longer, she can feel the strength building within her. She can feel searing heat pulse through her veins that pop out from her black skin. She snorts and snaps at James as he snaps back. Both of them are trying to get advantage over the other and it could take just a measly scrape from one's tooth that does it in for either of them. Angie's only doing this to hold James here while Cordelia is off getting Jasper. She should be back any moment now, knowing that Jasper practically gets off on using teleportation.
James locks his claws with hers and starts swaying to and fro with all his might, and then suddenly, Angie is lifted off the ground and tossed at the same tree that James had been smashed against. Angie gets her balance and skids to a halt with her claws dug into the ground. James charges and pushes her backwards by the throat. He attempts to crush her throat, and he would have if she was in a human form, but because she wasn't, it was harder for him to push down on her diamond tough throat. Angie grabbed at his arm with both claws and pushed back on him. Her feet started to kick wildly in hopes of tripping him up. They were again, locked in a battle of strength, but even with her sky rocketing strength, Angie knew it was only a matter of time before her stamina lost to his.
"Enough!" Came a booming voice that made the winds howl and the trees shake from their roots.
James rears up, releasing Angie's throat, and cries out in agonizing pain. His limbs begin to go spastic and Angie can hear bones break and muscles tear. James falls to the ground after a few moments of torture. The transformation back into a human is slow for him and he whines and whimpers as it happens. Angie's transformation is fast and doesn't hurt at all.
Jasper comes running over to her and bonks her on the head with a fist.
"Ow!" Angie hissed, covering her head with her hands. "That hurt!"
"Well, you deserved it!" Jasper huffed, hands on his hips. "What were you thinking?!"
"I wasn't!" Angie admitted then sighed with a rub of her head. "I wasn't. I thought that maybe I could, ya' know, get this figured out myself and it would be over and done with."
"But instead you die and morph into a full fledged demon."
"Yeah."
"You're stupid."
"Yeah."
"No, I mean, you might be the stupidest human I've ever met."
"Okay, I get it."
"Well, thanks to Angie, I can finally bring James into the depths of hell where he belongs," A voice like silk comes into play and as Angie looked from Jasper towards the voice, James disappears along with the owner of said voice.
"I was late because I brought Mother along," Jasper explained. "That's who that was. Surprised you didn't recognize the voice."
"It's been a night," Angie said. "Honestly, it's been a hell of a week.. a couple really."
"Well," Jasper sighed and put his arm around Angie's shoulders. "Let's get you back home. I'll be leaving you tonight since we've caught James. He won't be able to leave hell for a long time. He won't be able to seek you out anymore."
Angie nodded. "Where's Cordelia?"
"With Mother. She's a witness to everything tonight and given that you should take it easy, Mother asked her to join the council rather than you."
Angie nodded again and allowed Jasper to lead her back home. No teleportation. No magic. No nothing. Just a nice stroll through the streets of the small town. Only the street lights over head were lit but even still it was dark. Peaceful. For once out of the whole last few months of Angie's life.
Peaceful and quiet.
