When Dilbert runs back into the castle to save the royal couple, he finds Marguerite crunching on the floor as Alphege kicks her repeatedly. He doesn't know what happened until he sees underneath her protective arms the dead body of Armel as his clothes are soaked by her tears.
Dilbert sneaks behind Alphege and launches a surprise attack on his head with his sword. Alphege's strength lies in manipulation, he is completely defenceless to the hit and falls to the floor with a bleeding head.
Dilbert sees that he is still alive and wants to finish him, but the sight of Marguerite lying on the floor crying halts his movements.
He must first get her to a safe place. He pulls her away from the body, but in her frenzied state, she starts resisting and screaming to give her back Armel.
