Kenji had killed his first wolf, after adjusting his breathing he recalled his teacher saying "hunters timing their breathing with their prey".
Kenji started to understand a bit of what his teacher was saying in class the other day.
What he needs to do is to calmly make adjustments in his attack and defense depending on the movement of his enemies.
Kenji stored his short sword and dagger and replaced them with throwing knives. Kenji thought that using throwing knives would give him more room for strategy and an opportunity defeat the pack of wolves.
When he was still a gamer he would often use different kinds of character and one of them was a ranger.
A ranger usually uses a bow and arrow for long range fighting, and a double handed long sword or a short sword for fighting close range.
The ranger is both proficient in long range fighting and close range. Having a bonus when fighting in the forest, ranger is a must in a group.
Kenji thinking this way decided to use mid-range fighting in the forest. He was no ranger and couldn't use a bow proficiently yet. Instead of a long sword, he only has a short swort.
Kenji knew that he was fast enough to dodge incoming attacks of the wolves and he was sturdy enough to receive minor wounds.
As he came up with a strategy battle plan the leader of the wolves howled distinctly and a new set of brothers came.
==================================
The dire wolf could not understand why they couldn't kill this human. They outnumbered their prey and from the looks of it he should be a youngling. So how could they not kill him??
Although the human is small but he is agile, and the weapon that he wielded in his hands were sharp and fast.
He doesn't have battle experience the dire wolf thought, if he did he wouldn't look so awkward in dodging their attack.
With a howl he told his brothers to encircle him and attack from all sides, but one of his brothers made a mistake. He jumped in too deep and gave the human a chance to strike his vital point.
The dire wolf looked at his brother laying on the ground lifeless and his other brothers were raging in anger. The dire wolf knew that the human was getting better and was adjusting to the battle.
The dire wolf looked at Kenji's eyes and saw something that made him afraid. The human's eyes showed no fear but excitement.
So for safety of the pack he decided to kill the human in full force. The dire wolf howled again calling his brothers waiting in a distance.
==================================
Kenji now holding his throwing knives took a deep breath and started to run in a zigzag manner to avoid the cluster of the wolves.
While running Kenji started throwing his knives at the incoming wolves. Most of them miss their mark and only some of them hit.
Kenji thought that "it was easier said than done". He had to predict which direction the wolves were coming in order to throw his knives and hit the mark... But moving targets were harder to hit and his position was also changing.
Until he remembered to use the Help Menu... "System show me the map" with a ding sound... A small map had magically appeared in the corner of his upper right eye. Red dots were moving fast trying to cut-off his exit.
Kenji smirked and started to throw his knives more accurately, hitting their mark only realizing that his throwing daggers were almost used up. He only had 50pcs of them.
Their main use was to mark the territory his been to, by engraving his mark on the throwing daggers, the daggers would show in the system map incase he got lost in the mines.
Kenji told the system "show me where my daggers are" and with a ding light blue apostrophes were seen. Kenji started to circle around, he knew that the wolves were hell bent on killing him. Thus he made a bold move and started to pick up those knive which didn't hit their mark. Kenji was starting to feel tired from all the running and dodging, he kept on throwing his daggers until he could no longer see any unused marks on his map.
The dire wolf and his two subordinates were the only one's left. Kenji took out his short sword and his hunting knife, the boss battle was starting.
The dire wolf started his coordinated attack, he knew Kenji was exhausted. It was almost dark and they had the advantage in sight. Although they lost a lot of their brothers but if they couldn't kill this human then their deaths would not be in vain.
Kenji was so tired that he could not feel his legs shaking from fatigue, as he looked at the wolves Kenji determined that an all-out attack was coming. Attack from the left, right and center was a formation the wolves used for a sure kill. The dire wolf would sacrifed his two comrades to land a killing blow on Kenji. With difference from their attack tempo Kenji could atmost block 2 of the attack leaving him vulnerable for the third attack.
Unresigned to his unknown end, Kenji's body moved automatically, by jumping to the tree trunk Kenji propelled himself to the attacking wolves. Adding a spin to Kenji's counter attack he landed a critical hit to the two wolves, slashing their neck. Kenji let loose his short sword and used his free hand to receive the dire wolf's attack. Using his right to block, they went down and started to roll.
Kenji used his dagger to pierce the wolf's eyes going straight to the brains and ending his enemy's life.
Kenji was lying on the ground, he saw his arm mangled, with a pained expression and bloody body, a sharp light suddenly enveloped him as he leveled up!
His almost useless arm started to mend itself, Kenji thank the Gods for his timely level up. If he went back home and his family saw him with a dangling useless arm and then suddenly one day healed itself and was as good as new, Kenji knew he would not be able to talk his way out it. Lying on the ground panting, Kenji was happy that he survived his 1st life and death battle.
Kenji took out some herbal medicine from his inventory and rubbed it in his minor wounds. After a level up Kenji found out that his wounds from the battle would not completely heal especially serious or fatal wounds that he received from the dire wolf.
Kenji ate some herbs and then went on a lotus position to started to meditate abit. After recovering some more strength he started to retrieve his throwing knives.
While he was walking he started to check his new status and in his surprise a new title was given.
Title: Apprentice Hunter
Hunter of wild wolves. When hunting add +2 agility, +2 strength When fighting wolves or dire wolves the hunter receives critical strike plus 10%, dodge 10%.
Learned: Pelt extraction (materials can be sold or used in crafting)
Smoked Meat (to prolong the food or meat shelf life.)
After Kenji took his spoils of war he headed straight to his tree house, he had always kept a few set of clothes there incase something like this should happen.
After changing clothes he noticed his wounds started healing already. Eating more herbs to speed up regeneration, Kenji thought of potion making or learning alchemy would help him in the future. Kenji was about to leave the tree house when he noticed some blue dots on his map.
He decided to go where the blue dots were and find out who they were. When he got closer he recognized one of them.

Author's thoughts...
I know... I am slow... I will try to allocate more time in writing... I tried to put the pov of the dire wolf in this chapter and i think it's kinda good.. :)
Maybe i can use different pov from time to time...
I have all these ideas in my head but when i try to write them down i can't find the right words to express them....
