Chapter 1 - The Wheel Starts (Edited)

-----------------

Darkness

It's embrace soothes the soul;

Presence lulls you to sleep,

Brings you the comfort and….

Sometimes eternal sleep.

"This is far too dangerous Adam, we cannot do this by ourselves, this.. this thing, it's monstrosity; it's too powerful for us" said Price anxiously, distraught clearly in his eyes.

A tall man with a sturdy build, his muscles bulged out of his body and was donned in a pale black gown. He had a square shaped face that was devoid of any hair except the mustache which suited him exceptionally.

A bead of sweat rolled down his temples.

His face was like an open book, anxiety and fear was apparent in those thin, sunken eyes.

Sitting on his old Victorian era chair behind a big brown polished sandalwood table, he was covered by nothing but bookshelves around the room.

There was an enormous chandelier on the ceiling, the most striking thing about this chandelier was it's shape that vaguely reminisced the medieval era.

Standing opposite to Price in front of the table was a man of a short, dull stature with piercing blue eyes, donned in the same black gown as Price.

His long, loose hairs with thick beard covered almost all of his bony face making it hard to read his expressions.

"But father, think of the amount of glory befalling upon us if we somehow managed to kill that thing. It will be an honour, we will be renowned. Father, you could even be promoted to archbishop!" said Adam with an excited look on his face, a striking opposite expression to what was seen on price.

'If it all comes true, I will also get what he desired.... Maybe I will be promoted too' Adam thought, smirking inside.

"I have no interest in positions and power, the only thing I care about is to kill this thing and nothing else. Since this is to be done its either you relaying the information of this incident to the pope or I shall go and personally tell it all. The choice is yours to make" Said father Price in his dominant husky voice, leaning forward in the chair while he placed his chin upon his hands, his eyes narrowed and giving off a dangerous glint.

It was as if the initial anxiety was nothing but a hoax.

Adam saw the expression and almost instantly took two steps backward, intimidated by father Price's words.

"I'll move right at this moment father." Adam bowed as he replied looking at the floor with a fire burning in his deep blue eyes.

"Go off now" said Price nodding.

Price staunch muscles relaxed a bit, putting all his weight against his chair, he looked towards the ceiling, staring at the big golden chandelier, as if a eternity has passed, he finally muttered out the words "God help us".

*************

Abiel strode towards the door of the gloomy house before him, It was a rainy night and the cobblestones before the house were wet with mud.

It was a two storeyed house, roof sagging down a little as if burdened by something. The overgrown branches covered the door and yellow, wavy windows. The garden was disheveled and neglected with a mossy stepping stone path that had black spots covering most of it.

The door opened with a harsh scraping voice followed by the creaking of the floorboard, breaking the eerie silence consisting of nothing but the splatters of rain.

Walking out of the door was a large man, looking to be in his thirties, with his huge blonde mustache and golden locks .

Both Abiel and the man were world's apart, He was big bruiser of a man, dressed in simple brown shirt and black pants whereas Abiel was average sized and thin while his lean body was garbed in a black coat, yet this was not the distinctive part between them. It was fear, the dread and terror that pooled both the mens eyes.

Abiel gave a slight nod to the man.

The man tried doing the same yet despite all his efforts to hide it was clear as a sunny day just how much the man was scared.

The golden haired man led Abiel into the house.

The walls of the house were mostly yellow with many pictures placed on them.

The man showed Abiel the way to the stairs which was not so far off while the creaking of the floor still continued with every step they took.

In between there was the living room with no sofas but only mats that were placed on the ground with a lady and two children sleeping on them.

"They feel safe this way" the man said looking towards Abiel as he again was met with a slight nod.

After a few seconds both men continued their march towards the stairs.

There were three rooms around the hallway on the upper floor each one of them similar to the other. Walking in the hallway the golden haired man directed Abiel towards the room at the leftmost corner.

The man opened the door and both of them were greeted by the site of a lady in her late twenties, wearing a dark yellow gown, with a fair complexion and blue eyes. Having the same golden locks like the man in front of him.

But all this was of no concern to Abiel as all his attention was upon the bed which the lady was standing beside.

And truth to be told he was scared witless by the scene that was presented before him.

He never expected this…

There laid a woman with deathly pale skin and pure white eyes while the ends of her eye had black veins running all over. Her bones pierced out of her skin in unnatural ways. Yet this was not all, the hairs on her body were all white and her veins deep black. While a green gooish substance came out of the woman's mouth as she convulsed with every second that passed by.

.

"God help us"

Abiel finally voiced out the words struck in his throat.

*************

Adam was walking towards an enormous door in a hallway similar throwing off the aura of majesty. A line of the crying angels stood on both the sides of the hallway along with candles near the walls.

He opened the door and was a greeted by a large round room with great chandeliers on the ceiling,

In the middle of the room sitting on a big chair and an enormous table ahead of him was a man clad in white clothes with golden laces on them.

"What brings you here, Adam?" Asked the man with his cool and warm voice, his eyes having a tinge of green to them, face very fair and had luxuriant obsidian black hairs.

"The thing I told you about, father Price is telling me to go to the pope and is very adamant on doing that" Adam said, with fear and respect in his eyes.

"For Price to be so afraid, that thing must be quite powerful huh" replied the man, placing his head on his hand that was supported by arm rest "I would also like to see it."

"Yes, Archbishop Clement" Adam uttered these words as he again bowed and left the room.

The Archbishop looked towards the cross in his room just beside the window and said in a contemplating voice

"A coin could only have two faces and so do the outcome. Which one is in there for us waiting, only the right time will tell….while all we can do is just play along."
