Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: Final battle-1

At that moment,

"Scrrrrrreeeeeeechhh!!!!!!!!"

A loud cry echoed in the field, making Freya smile further.

"I guess you have to wait for that chance in your next life," she smirked.

The demon's eyes contracted in pain steering her to throw Freya away when she was attacked by a fireball from the sky.

Lyndel raised her head to recognize a majestic bird descend from the sky.

"Phoenix...How is this possible?!" her eyes widened in amazement as she clenched her claws.

Phoenix, a mythical level spirit beast, actually appeared here. It was known how arrogant and might they are. They prided themselves as higher-level beings and hates to interfere in useless battles.

Wings fluttering by its sides, its green eyes staring down at the demon, with its beak glowing red. Those emerald eyes stared down mercilessly making Lyndel feel as if she was immersed in cold water. The glowing golden fur on its body looked like fire in the dark sky, which had slowly begun to disperse letting a small pool of sunlight in.

The phoenix landed in front of the demon as it transformed into its human form.

In the place of a mighty Phoenix, stood a red-haired guy narrowing his emerald eyes at Lyndel and released an immense aura which made the demon shudder.

The red-haired guy ignored the demon in the next second as he directly went towards Freya and helped her up.

Freya had crashed into the rocks when Lyndel threw her away in panic. As the red-haired guy helped her up, she muffled her voice in an attempt to hide her pain.

But he could understand this small woman from the back of his hand. He sighed pitying the state this silly girl was in as he reached her.

Suddenly Freya felt like she was wrapped into a warm embrace. She smiled as she said, "You are late."

She looked into those emerald eyes which had a hint of pain as it scanned her body and examined her injuries.

She noticed those beautiful emerald eyes shimmer slightly as he said, "Sorry for being late." And rubbed her head affectionately.

Freya sighed as she shook her head, "You are not late."

The red-haired guy raised an eyebrow at her to which she confirmed, "You are right in time to steal the show." and chuckled.

The red-haired guy smiled slightly as he pinched her cheek but anyone would be able his indulgence for her.

Freya frowned as she pointed out, "This time, the waiting period was quite lengthy."

The guy nodded, "It is really difficult to stop the evolution halfway."

He then looked at the demon and then towards Freya's injuries the second time. His eyes blazed in fury as he mandated, " You did a good job holding out for me. Now, leave this to me."

Freya nodded as she saw him walk away.

The red-haired guy turned towards the demon who managed to not crumble under his pressure.

He raised his eyebrow as he commented, "You did well managing to stand."

His body flared in a red fire as his hands mustered up a fireball. He was tossing the fireball in his palm as he wandered towards the demon slowly, who had staggered back in fear.

He smirked coldly, "Now where were we?"

The demon snarled as she attacked with her dark power. The red-haired guy smirked as he waved his hand and stopped the attack.

Phoenix raised his hands as a firestorm surrounded the demon. The demon's cries echoed on the field as the fire burnt her body as well as her soul. His eyes glinted as he appeared inside the storm, right in front of the demon.

He punched the demon and kicked her causing Lyndel to crash against some rocks. He caught her by her neck as he pulled her up. His hands tightened his hold on her as he recalled how her filthy claws harmed his princess.

Irritated, he threw her away. Lyndel gasped in pain as her body crashed against the rocks, one after the other and finally came to a halt. She coughed out blood as she managed to stand up. Her body was covered in wounds as she stared hatefully at the phoenix.

'If only you hadn't arrived....' Lyndel's eyes shifted towards Freya and continued, 'I would have had her head by now.'
