" B-Boy, Don't cut down-n my sho-opp into half." Oliver was appalled.
Usui looked at him, with his eyes wide open as he couldn't believe what he did just now. He looked at Oliver and then to the mess he created, rubbing his nose and he smiled sheepishly.
Oliver smacked his head, " Don't need to be so surprised. I expected it to happen but not to this extent. Who would use their entire strength when trying out, idiot?!"
Oliver nudged the boy who followed him while rubbing his head, to the table. Usui sat down still holding onto the sword.
Oliver looked at him and the sword back and forth and hinted," I think it's better you let go now or your sword might drain your mana core."
Surprised, Usui quickly let go of the sword and placed it back inside the box on the table. It was only then he realised something, turning to Oliver he asked, " How did you know the sword was absorbing my mana?"
Oliver laughed," Silly boy, I have had this sword for years now. Do you think I wouldn't be able to know it's qualities?"
Usui nodded and asked again, " If you had such an amazing sword, why didn't you take it out in the beginning?"
Oliver shook his head sadly, " It's not that easy to explain, I came across this sword accidentally. One day, a person entered this shop and left it here. When I saw the sword, I was thrilled and proceeded to give his money but the latter rejected it and requested, 'Give the sword to someone who is deserving it.'
I was quite confused by his words but when I tried to lift the sword, it didn't budge."
Oliver stopped and asked, " What was that quote?"
" What quote?!"
"Hmm... yes got it... The sword chooses its owner. Those words only became clear on that day" and Oliver laughed.
He continued, " Anyway, one of the reasons the sword is heavy is because of the mana it absorbs. Many years passed, and a lot of cultivators have tried lifting it but failed. And, when I have lost hope in this sword, you show up, lifting it quite easily."
He looked at Usui admirably and shook his head when he saw Usui open his mouth.
" I can't... I have tried but can't stop the sword from consuming mana. It's like the more mana the sword absorbs, the more powerful it becomes."
Usui leaned back on his chair, feeling a little weak. This damn sword had drained away half of his mana and he was still recovering from the injury.
He asked another question which was bugging him for a while," How was it that I could lift it?"
" I don't know, boy. I was quite surprised when you lifted it. From what I have understood from studying the sword, to lift it one should have a tremendous amount of mana supply."
Oliver then added, " I think you know the answer why you lifted the sword now."
He hesitated to explain but Oliver shook it off, "No need to explain, boy."
He continued," Each sword that I sell has a sword skill in it, and for the holder to use the full sword potential, they need to master the sword skill. And, one can only master the sword skill when the sword recognises its owner."
Usui looked intrigued by this information that he looked at the short black sword.
He listened as Oliver said in surprise," It's quite rare to find a sword recognising its owner from the start. It could be done by sharing so many battles together or like what you did, choosing the right one, which is quite difficult."
Usui nodded and asked, "Can I control its consumption?"
"That could be easily done, Just drop your blood on the sword. It will only recognise you as its master and would control its consumption."
As Usui heard this, he pricked his little finger and a drop of blood was dropped. As soon as the blood touched the blade, the blade shined brightly causing the two people to close their eyes.
When they opened their eyes, they saw the blade as normal as it was but Usui could feel the blade now. It was strange for him to feel a sword.
He held it tightly and walked back to the room where he tested its skills. He tried slashing another box, trying his best to minimise the mess. It was like the sword could feel his wish as it only sliced the box he was aiming at.
Usui touched the sword and said proudly, "Black Thunder... It will be known by this name."
Oliver nodded and clapped his hands excitedly, " Good name... Well done, boy."
Usui smiled slightly at the older guy. Only after he bought his sword did he remember Freya, 'Damn it... I hope she is still here.'
He quickly rushed out of the room, carrying the sword on his waist, to look for her.
