The atmosphere within Lucas's group of friends took a nosedive as they began to gossip about Seryne's romantic history and her apparent indifference to her suitors. The cheerful mood that had been present just moments ago was suddenly crushed under the weight of speculation and rumors.
Lucas, feeling increasingly irritated, couldn't tolerate the discussion any longer. "Okay, guys, enough, let's end it here," he snapped, his frustration evident in his tone.
His friends reluctantly relented, their disappointment palpable. "Alright, alright," they replied, acknowledging Lucas's irritation.
Lucas ended the call and sighed with relief. The gossip had become unbearable, and he decided to call it a day. He needed a break from the chatter and the mounting frustration that was making it difficult to concentrate on anything else.
As he walked home, his thoughts inevitably returned to Seryne and the mystery surrounding her. He couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to her story than met the eye. But as he was lost in his contemplation, he suddenly spotted Seryne and her daughter, Lorayne, on the street.
The mother and daughter were both smiling happily while enjoying their ice cream. It was a heartwarming sight, and it seemed like a genuine moment of joy. Seryne's smile, usually a carefully practiced façade, appeared to be authentic. Lorayne, who typically concealed her emotions, was also openly expressing her happiness.
Lucas couldn't help but be moved by the scene. It was a side of Seryne and Lorayne that he rarely saw. Their bond was evident, and he felt a deep connection with them, one that transcended their friendship. He yearned to be a part of their lives and become a father figure to Lorayne.
He couldn't forget the first time he saw Lorayne in the hospital, her eyes sparkling with excitement when he woke up after a four-year coma. It was like seeing an angel. He had always wished to see her smiling like that forever. However, since that day, Lorayne had transformed into the guarded and cautious child he now knew.
Lucas couldn't help but wonder what had happened to make Lorayne so reserved, and he was determined to uncover the truth about their past and the barriers that stood between them.
Thinking to get a little closer to Lorayne, he walked to them. He saw them laughing while trying to eat each other's ice cream. This scene caught his heart, he was unable to resist the strong urge to take a picture taking out his phone from his pocket but no matter how many pictures he took he just couldn't seem to get enough. Seeing their little battle has ended he stopped taking pictures and walked up to them.
"Hey!! "
"Hello." Seryne and Lorayne replied in unison.
"Back to home?" Seryne asked
"Yeah, wasn't able to concentrate so thought to take a break."
"Good Idea. Anyways how is your rehab now?" Seryne asked remembering the last time they met in the rehab centre.
It had been four months since Lucas woke up from his four year long comatic situation and they had met just five days back at the rehabilitation centre. After Lucas woke up, the situation between them had been a little strange. But all this strangeness and awkwardness would leave as soon as Lorayne spoke up. But the last time, things got a bit messed due to the absence of Lorayne.
Five Days Back
Rehabilitation Centre...
"Good! That's right. "
The trainer praised as the rehab session came to an end. Lucas had been in the rehab for three months after his vitals were declared normal and fit for rehab.
"Let's end this session today." A voice came from the door attracting their attention.
"Hello Doctor!" The trainer greeted Sery as she walked in.
